AWC had their bi-annual Family Night; interactive booths pertaining to courses held at the college. Not as much going on like in years past ( jazz ensembles, hayrides for the kids, etc) but still a worthwhile event. I picked up some flyers of things of interest and talked to resident experts while my soon-to-be high graduate did the same. Overall, a decent event. read more

THIS IS A REVIEW ABOUT CAMPUS LIFE AND THE DORMS. FIRST, the dorms are horrible. They are so old they are falling apart and students are having to be moved from one room to another. The RAs and the campus police that are on guard at the front desk are VERY strict with who comes into the dorms. Want someone to spend the night in your own room that you're paying for? They are gonna have to pay $15 a night. Also, only the same sex can spend the night, so no boyfriend or girlfriend is allowed over. There's a key pad for every door where you have to enter your room code, so if you have your hands full, your screwed. SECOND, the campus life sucks. The library on campus closes at 9pm every day and isn't even open on Sundays!!!! The cafeteria always smells gross, and the food is below average. The hours of operation for the cafeteria are horrible as well. On the weekends, you can't even go to eat until 10:30 am, and they stop selling food at 7:30 pm. So if you miss a meal time, your screwed. YOU WILL GO HUNGRY OFTEN!!!! Also, even though they say they stop selling food at 7:30, they start putting all the food away 10 minutes before, so if you go at 7:25 to get something to go, there will be no food. The employees, however, are very nice and one of the employees, Anjelica, is the homie. THIRD, the people in resident life and charging do not know what they were doing. I wasn't being charged for housing all semester and I was not receiving emails from them. I was fortunately removed from the dorms because of Corona virus, and what does res life send me?? A bill for $3,964.00, as if I had been living there all semester!!!!!! I was very upset but couldn't get a hold of anyone because the campus is closed on Fridays. How convenient for them! Also, the meal plan is WAAYYYYYY overpriced. It's cheaper to get a meal plan at Northern Arizona University than it is here!!! Students always end up with more money than they can spend on food at the end of the semester, so everyone starts panic buying everything because if they don't spend their money, the college will take it. Overall, the campus life is the worst I've ever experienced in my life, and I have had experience with campus life at many other colleges, including GCU, OCC and NAU. I would not recommend living on campus to anyone until the school fixes all of these issues. Good luck if you're gonna be living on campus. You'll need it!!! read more

Don't listen to the review before me. Yes, there's a lot of people who never get a degree or are repeaters or take forever. A lot of people mid 20 and up, but also many who are fresh out of high school too. Wonderful bus system, $5 a semester and you ride free everyday. Parking wraps around the whole campus, which is really nice. It has enough parking, I think. I don't remember if there's parking permits, but if there's not WHAT A TREASURE!!! I transferred to Cali community colleges...and BOY DO I REGRET IT!!! Sure, the credits are cheaper for in-state residents compared to in-state residents here...but only by $30 per credit... Both teachers I had were so understanding when I was homeless. One allowed me to miss a test due to transportation issues and the other wrote to the dean to let me in the class since I hadn't taken the prerequisite class. No where will you find this ever. Needless to say I earned a 4.0 that semester, and it wasn't because it was easy (well, the HIS class was...but, Professor Eoff and Professor Mike Bowman for QBA are both so amazing, I was interested whether it was easy or hard). It was because the teachers give a shit for the students who work hard. They actually give us a chance and teach us stuff we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Or at least me. Didn't need to crash a single course, despite it being my first semester and I was out-of-state at the time, with NO PRIORITY. That's a LUXURY for most schools. IN CALI: Last semester I crashed literally all but one class and this semester I tried crashing 3, only got one, got dropped from another for unfair reasons (missed class because of a family emergency), and am dropping another class because a counselor fucked me up....AWC? Not a problem. The campus is HUGE for a community college, with MANY OTHER LOCATIONS THAT ARE ACTUALLY CLASSES YOU NEED AND CAN APPLY TO THE MAIN CAMPUS PROGRAM!!! ALSO CAN GRADUATE JUST USING OTHER LOCATION CLASSES!!! NO NEED TO USE MAIN CAMPUS!!! Unlike many colleges who have sister campuses that don't exactly translate, you have to STILL petition a transfer or something extra...Not this one! :) Webadvisor and blackboard was hard to navigate at first, but let me tell you!!! It's easier than navigating other colleges' shit. Uses Accuplacer for placement tests, which are nationally recognized. Never once needed to talk to a counselor about classes; it was that easy to navigate and pick courses by myself. AND IT HAS A DORM!!! Even though it's a big campus, I can honestly say I generally didn't have a problem navigating the campus after the first week. At my current C.C....it's week 2 and I STILL can't remember rooms for the life of me!!! No signs, no nothing! If you go to another community college, you'll probably regret ever leaving this one, seriously. It's only depressing if you surround yourself with negative people...But I didn't make friends, I came to learn*! *(But be sure to join clubs so you can get into good schools!) read more

Arizona Western is a joke of a college. Their academic curriculum is lacking and many professors are terrible at teaching. The administrative side of this "college" is completely inflexible- especially for veterans using their GI Bill. The people who work in registration and buisness are rude and uneducated. The "advisors" are there to push student loans and their own political agendas. Also EVERY student is required to pay the "bus pass" fee even if they do not use the pass!! They are also about 10 years behind when it comes to assigning text books. For the most part, even the major universities in AZ now assign books that can be downloaded electronically. The obsession with useless iLabs at this place is mind-boggling. Also, I did not feel safe AT ALL on this campus because of certain students from out of town cat-calling and harassing females while security did nothing The entire institution is geared towards certain types of people because it is amazing that a majority of people who "graduate" from this place can barely speak English. Save yourself from months of headaches and stress and find a real college to attend. read more

Just save yourself a headache and don't go here. They lack professors and courses for their students and their financial aid workers are ruthless and rude. I can't even tell you how many times I've received rude responses from the individuals who work there regarding my financial aid status. I even had to contact the Vice President of student services to finally get answers. As a new student, I also have never seen an "advisor" or had anyone help guide me into what I need to do, which I though that's their job is to reach out to students. Because of this college, I'm a semester behind before the Nursing program at NAU because they only had ONE teacher for Microbiology. Just a NIGHTMARE of a "college." read more

I have been coming to this college for a total of 3 years but took breaks in between semesters. I have had nothing but great experiences here. I am on my way to earning an associates degree and soon to be transfering. My professors have been a great role in my academic success at this college.
