Stopped in here while passing through el paso. Small but impressive shop. Good variety and selection. They have a venomous snake collection in the store with several different rattlers, a gaboon viper, African bush snake, and 14 ft long king cobra. They're right off the 375 in the northwest side of town by the base. It was a good place to kill about an hour and break up the monotony of a road trip. We spent a good amount of time talking to the staff. Nice people. Some of the tanks were mislabeled, like there was a monitor in the tank labeled club tailed iguana, a few others, I forget already, the spotted salamanders were in the next cage over. We used to raise and sell angel fish so we were a bit surprised that most fIsh we purchase in El Paso got sick and died and were surrounded by sick fish. Ark Exotics is never like that. Everything from this shop has been excellent and we won't get fish anywhere else now! read more

Went into Ark exotics today because my snake needs to eat. I've heard and read mixed reviews about this place, so I was a little weary going there. I frankly did not know what to expect. Anyway, the two guys at the counter were really easy going and helpful. I wasn't sure what size of frozen rodent to her for LeeRoy and I showed him the picture and he made a recommendation based on his size. I really appreciate going into a place and having whoever works their really know their shit( pardon my French). It's like having a non musician working at a music store and asking them for help lol. Anyway we chatted a bit and I walked around and they have quite a bit of selection of reptiles my boyfriend is going to end up hating me because of all my animals. I like that they aren't like most pets stores, this place has really nice set ups and the animals were all in superb conditions. I'm looking into getting another python and they have different morphs there. I will definitely be considering them in the future. read more

I will only give this place a 2 star as they keep their animals pretty well. As for the staff. Oh my the staff is really aggressive and rude. We called ahead about selling them a bunny and they said they would accept it for store credit and we agreed. We took the bunny in and asked the man in the front. He was an older looking man. The guy immediately said in a very rude and serious tone "nothing, we have so many we don't need them" now I may sound very soft but he was quite rude about it. Especially since we called ahead to make sure. It made the environment very hostile and we decided to leave. I wish the staff was more friendly and not so rude about everything. I've had many rude experiences with this place. Also this place tends to overprice their animals. read more

After calling and telling them I need mealworms they telll me they don't open until 3:00 coming from the Far East I wait the hour until they . Only to be told "oh you needed mealworms sorry we don't have them right now" you couldn't have told me that an hour ago?!? read more

I was extremely disappointed in this pet store after seeing the conditions of their mice and birds today. There were about 4 rectangular glass containers that were all absolutely crammed with mice. They were forced to crawl on top of each other to get anywhere in their container. I was heartbroken to see one little mouse having a hard time sleeping because he was getting trampled by the rest of the mice. They were probably sitting in their own pee and poop too! The owner of the store clearly has no respect for the lives of those mice because if they did, they'd be sure to provide an adequate amount of space, food, and water, for their animals. As for the birds, I was sad to see them laying on the floor of their cages, they looked so sad! There was defiantly some sort of Emotional issues going on with the birds. They should have companions and a toy or two! They had nothing! I noticed two birds In particular who were loosing their feathers on their heads. I felt so sad! This pet store needs to stop abusing their animals. read more
