I want to share my experience with Ascension Animal Hospital, not out of anger, but in the hope…read morethat no other pet owner has to go through what we did with our beloved Chloe. This began around the beginning of June when I brought Chloe to see Dr. Jenna. I was concerned because she wasn't eating normally and I believed she had a UTI. The UTI was confirmed and they did bloodwork. Chloe was started on antibiotics. We returned about a week later for a recheck, and I was told the UTI had cleared. However, Chloe was still having accidents and, more concerning to me, she still wasn't eating. During her examination, Dr. Jenna discovered arthritis in Chloe's hip and also began treating her for what was thought to be bronchitis because of a cough. She also recommended completing the final test needed to definitively confirm Chloe's Cushing's disease. I scheduled the all-day Cushing's test. When I dropped Chloe off for the test, I specifically asked that Dr. Jenna be given a message that Chloe was still not eating. When I picked her up that evening, I asked the technician if Dr. Jenna had received my message. I was told that "he" would come out and speak with me. I then learned that Dr. Rob, not Dr. Jenna, had performed the all-day test. No one had told me that Dr. Jenna would not be seeing Chloe that day. I expressed my concern about Chloe not eating. I was reassured that it was likely because of the antibiotics. A couple of days later, I called again because Chloe still wasn't eating and I was trying to get her seen. I received a call back saying that Dr. Jenna felt Chloe's stomach was upset from the antibiotics. Over the next couple of weeks, I was repeatedly told that her lack of appetite was related to an upset stomach from the antibiotics, and nausea medication was prescribed. Eventually, Chloe stopped eating altogether. At that point, I took her to Dutchtown Animal Hospital and saw Dr. Rosen. From the moment she examined Chloe, she was concerned and said, "I think it's pancreatitis. I need to run a blood test to confirm." The test confirmed that Chloe had pancreatitis. Unfortunately, by then, Chloe was too sick and too far gone to respond to treatment. We ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go. Chloe was a beloved member of our family. I understand that veterinarians cannot always know immediately what is wrong, and I understand that pancreatitis can be difficult to diagnose. My concern is not that the diagnosis wasn't made on the first visit. My concern is that Chloe repeatedly wasn't eating, I repeatedly communicated that concern, and for weeks we were reassured that it was simply her stomach being upset by antibiotics. I wish there had been more urgency in investigating why she wasn't eating, especially when it continued despite treatment. I am sharing this because I truly hope Ascension Animal Hospital will look at Chloe's case and consider whether something could have been done differently. If another pet owner comes in saying their dog has stopped eating and continues to decline, I hope their concerns will be taken more seriously and that additional testing will be considered sooner. We loved Chloe deeply, and we would never want another family to experience the heartbreak of wondering whether things might have been different if her symptoms had been investigated sooner. UNPROFESSIONAL & THREATENED ME!!!…read more I took my 13 yo POM for euthanasia in November 2025 and they left us in the room for 30 min unsupervised after giving him the first shot. They had told us they would be back in 10 min to give the final injection. My dog wound up having a heart attack due to their negligence as they waited too long! He was thrashing and screaming at the top of his lungs!! My BFF (who had her mother's dog put to sleep ~ 1 month before (smooth) & my son were with us and they ran out the door yelling to find help. After 5+ min (about 15+ by the time they got his final shot administered), they wound up giving him additional shots (yes multiple - at least 2 more) to finally put him down, but not before standing in my face and repetitively & continuously asking me if "I wanted them to help me," as I cried hysterically trying to calm my baby! "Of course," I replied, "that's why I'm here in the first place," as we all tried to calm my dog! Over the next week plus, I received a call from his actual vet there (West), who was sencere, apologetic and talked for almost an hour, heard me out and explained what had happened and told me we would work through this together; to call her anytime I was upset in the future, as I had to go to the doctor for myself after all that. I also received a sympathy card from the entire staff. I was in a VERY Bad Way for over a month and still have issues, but needed let it all go. FF to today 5/20/26 (6 mo) - to my absolute shock, I contacted then to take my son's dog in & made an appointment. The receptionist booked me right away and we hopped in the car. Once almost there, I received a call from Dr. Anderman herself and the conversation goes pretty much as follows: Me: Yes, this is Melissa (while driving and supporting a dog with a hurt leg). Anderman: We won't be able to see you as we're severing the relationship between us. "IF YOU DRIVE UP ON THIS PROPERTY, I WILL CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE YOU ARRESTED!" M: Are you serious? A: Yes, you yelled at and threatened my staff. (Which I did in NO terms do!!) M: Wait a minute, I need to pull over! Y'all left us in the room and my dog had a heart attack and no one could be found. I cant believe this; my son's dog is hurting and you just threatened me while I'm driving! A: I didn't threaten you. We are ending our relationship and if you show up you will be arrested!! M: You didn't think to let me know this back then? No problem, I'll find another vet! Glad to know they think a 60 yo, disabled woman is such a threat. BTW, my son's dog is okay now. However, a couple of months ago they built a standalone brand new building so they now have plenty of space. I've had several of the vets there treat my dogs, and I also purchase all of my pet prescriptions from them. All the doctors are extremely capable, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The rates are competitive, although I do think it would be a lot less expensive if I lived in a more rural area. I will be returning with both of my pups whenever I need veterinary care.

We scheduled two of our four dogs for their annuals here and I will say that my first impression is 5 stars. Easily. The technician, Lee, was super slow with my nervous girls giving them treats to help them feel more comfortable. Dr. Scott was fantastic with them as well, taking her time to make them feel comfortable before doing anything. My most skittish girl walked straight to the back with Lee without hesitation for her blood draw. Both girls finished their visit with pup cups which was a win for them. Even as patients at the vet I worked for they were on edge and never did relax when there, this seemed to be a very positive experience for both of them and that matters hugely for me. When the animals comfort comes first, you know you found a good vet. Everyone was super sweet including our receptionist Kaitlyn and we look forward to using them in the coming years for the rest of our pets. If you're looking for a vet that has patience with nervous dogs and is a friendly and calm environment ultimately creating a less stressful experience for everyone, this is your vet. The little report cards with photos of your babies was a really cute bonus as well.
