maybe in-person's a different experience but online this place is seriously awful. professors make no effort to engage or connect with students. every professor i have has reused lecture videos from their predecessors, which usually include outdated assignment instructions. then when i email the professor to ask for clarification they refer me to the aforementioned videos. they don't grade their own assignments, they don't record their own lectures, they don't respond to emails in a timely or helpful manner, and worst of all they're condescending and unfriendly. if you mention struggling with very real learning disabilities like adhd, you aren't taken seriously or accommodated in any way, which seems borderline illegal. basically, if you want a masters degree i cannot think of a worse possible place to obtain one. read more

well, except you are an international student tricked into flying thousands of miles away from home, the school is average. I would never recommend this university for any international students because the opportunities available to international students are extremely limited most especially when they sense that you have a different accent. They are willing to take your money but not willing to help you with any jobs on campus. The professors are just ok. Not really anything I've not seen before. In my opinion, don't come here as an international except they can guarantee you a stable G.A or campus job. read more

I would not recommend doing any online courses or degree through Arkansas State University. The price is good sure but they are so disorganized and I ask questions about my program and my adviser and student coordinator don't know answers. The online courses have over 5oo students in them so you just feel like a number. Also, the instructor doesn't even grade your assignments and discussions! There are academic assistants that do all the grading. If you ask the instructor a question they just say 'refer to the rubric', that may only be the instructor i have but I have her for nearly all my courses online. There are misspellings and different names used for the same assignments in the syllabus and in weekly modules; that makes the courses even more confusing. There were no actual videos of showing step by step how to use blackboard online website so I had to go to youtube to actually find useful tutorials. If I email academic assistants or my instructor is has taken on average a week and a half for them to get back to me; that's awful because my assignments are due within a week. Also, they do not open assignments early so you can work ahead and be flexible with your schedule. I do not recommend Arkansas State University. The disorganization alone is enough to make me regret my decision of enrolling here. read more

ASU admitted students to multiple master's programs in the Health Science department and then suddenly made the decision to get rid of all the MSHS degrees. Some of the degree electives were already gone before I started my first class. Students were stuck in classes they did not want to be in. I was able to take one course from only one of the specialties I chose (I signed up for the education and the administration certificates). The online courses and school server were plagued by server problems; 500 errors were common. I had to withdraw from the last classes I was enrolled in just a few weeks after starting the courses, due to these server problems. The upper levels of school administrators and IT department acknowledge these problems and still left me with no degree and no options to transfer credits to any other programs at the school. All I received was a bill and a major waste of time. The professors and department heads are great. The people running the school could learn a few things from those working under them. read more
