A grand old art deco 1930s movie theater now in its 75th year standing but in much need of a face…read morelift. The components are all there - this beauty just needs a little help. On the national historical registry since 2010. the wife and I were there one evening recently for an ArMack Orchestra performance, the sound within the auditorium is very good and I'm sure in her prime she was a grand venue, but this building has definitely seen better days. The first thing I noticed was the "mushy" smell when you walk into this large space - mold, dust and disrepair are apparent. The art deco interior is still very much there and intact - mostly just needs an update after all the years of neglect. Great stylized cut glass wall sconces, and stylized cut glass overhead light fixtures along with the lobby entrance and foyer details reveal just how great this grand structure was back in its day. High ceiling soar overhead and two huge murals - left and right of the stage reminded me that this used to be a place where people in the town gathered regularly in a different era. This space is now a multicultural facility for the performing arts and monthly movies. Also available for rent for special events, weddings, parties, concerts, etc. This is a special place within old Town downtown Eureka that needs to be used to keep her alive, and is in need of some loving restoration to keep around for future generations. Still a 4 Star venue for all of its awesome architectural details that still exist after seven plus decades. And, a venue that has the potential to be a true 5 star gem - with a little help. 00127

They feature awesome programming like "Science on Screen," when science lectures accompany sci-fi films, and live scores by musicians such as the Invisible Czars. Visiting the theater for their monthly noir night has become one of my favorite activities since moving to the area. Definitely grab a local beer, cider, glass of wine or speciality cocktail while viewing a flick--all proceeds go toward the theater's restoration. Rumors has it that the theater will soon have it's own deco Air BnB for rent upstairs--can't wait to recommend it to out of town visitors :)

What a wonderful, welcoming, communal space!…read more I was invited to perform here by the Zero to Fierce Festival, and the team here has it going on! I worked with Jackie, Joyful, TL, Mobius, and so many other team members; I'm so grateful to have performed my show THE ANTI "YOGI": Liberation, Not Lululemon, at such a supportive space! I was impressed by the community engagement, hunger, and interest to listen/participate/share. The artwork presented inside is beautiful, the space hosts so many types of shows- and it can accommodate a lot of people! It is truly a communal space; hosting lunchbox sessions to discuss the topics with the artists coming in and the radio station is right next door. Everyone is very supportive toward artists and helping artists; they are engaged in supporting the artist however they may need. They display art work/exhibits in the common area and try to bring in diverse stories that need to be heard. I definitely will recommend this place and festival with others! Thank you all to the team, the viewers, and the community! My percussionist, Neel and I had a tremendous experience and very much wish to return again soon. Please check out what this space does!

Live music, community theater, art performances, circus shows big and small, kid's programs and summer classes and a few things I'm sure I'm leaving out. Our most recent visit was for the theater costume clearance sale, it opened at 10 this past Saturday morning - we arrived at around 11:30 and it was over! It is what it is! This also shows how popular this local venue is. This is a great playhouse that supports and helps a multitude of organizations within the local community. Because of the unique nature of this facility it runs hours accord to the event(s) it is hosting at that time. You may want to verify with the event your going for what times, dates, etc. in advance if you're driving in from out of the area. That being said, a great community asset and another cool place to see awesome live music in town. A solid 5 star venue. 00307

Something that grossed me out where the carpets. Goodness looks like dirt caked into the carpet. We need rug Dr in the house ASAP!!! Or at least a whole carpet removal! Used the restrooms, seemed fairly clean with the exception of a pooped toilet. I made sure to use the restroom in the fartest entrance. Prior to my visit, I had gone to see Zootopia and cannot believe how people on five dollar Tuesday treat the environment where they have wrappers on the floor and it is just pandemonium. Overall, I was rated as a B minus experience, but I really enjoyed the movie Hail Mary. Sadly, on a Tuesday the bigger theaters for $5 Dollar Tuesdays were trashed. Don't people know how to aim at the trash or know to treat other places better or similar to their own homes?

This is definitely an older theater, don't expect fully reclining seats with footrests, or…read moreanything like that. Saying that, the seats are comfortable, and the picture sound are good. The movie prices are reasonable. They do an overall good job of keeping up the theater. We came to see "back to the future", which was celebrating its 40th anniversary with a re-release on the big screen. It's a fun movie and it was great to see it on the big screen again. The way they do the tickets, is they don't have a separate ticket booth, the people who run the snack bar also sell the tickets. The problem is, when we were there, there were only two people at the snack bar, and they were selling tickets and running the snack bar at the same time. My sister ,and I waited in line over 10 minutes, and we were still quite a ways from the front of the line. I made a comment how one person should just be selling tickets, and fortunately , another person in line ahead of me heard my comment, and said that there was a ticket kiosk, and he pointed it out to me. We didn't want anything at the snack bar, so I went over to the kiosk to get our tickets, and we headed into the theater. The reason I'm taking away a star, as while it's nice to have the ticket kiosk, As happened to us, if you don't know, it's there, you will miss it. There should be something that points you to the ticket kiosk, so that you don't automatically get in line if you don't know it's there. That was a bit of an inconvenience and if we would've had to wait in that long line to buy our tickets, we would've missed the beginning of the movie. Now that we know about the kiosk, we will use it in the future. They just need to be more obvious about letting people know it's there.
