And they are the only place I know that correctly calls "sausage kolaches" as their real name--Klobásník--or Klobásníky (plural.) but don't expect those to still be there. On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! It's one of those "blink and you'll miss it" towns. One light and then it's gone.

The aisles were close together, but groceries weren't easy to be found. I had to search high and low to locate things on my list due to the organization of the store and I'm so used to shopping at the location in Friendswood. The store prices were pricier than the location in Friendswood. I didn't care for that. The Asian/International aisle was popping because they had everything under the sun for spring roll preparations. I found my Maggi sauce, sweet soy sauce, and canned bean sprouts. However, when it came time to check out; there was a line from the front of the store to the bakery aisle for the self-checkout. There was long lines for the regular lines. It was only three workers holding down the whole store. Now, that's ridiculous. I met with this very kind self-checkout employee. She was very sweet and helped me clean the self-checkout kiosk since it wasn't ringing up my items properly and kept giving me issues each time I scanned my groceries. After this experience, I'll be avoiding this location like the plague.

If you happen to be in the area (near Hempstead or on the way to Brenham or coming back from Austin), there is a great selection of produce and other items here. This is definitely the place to stop if you are looking for high quality watermelon, especially of the black-seeded variety. This kind of watermelon is hardly ever sold in Houston supermarkets these days. In my opinion, the produce sold here just looks better than the offerings in most grocery stores. The varieties of squash seem more plump and fresh. Part of the haul from the latest trip to Dilorio: Yellow Onion, Russet Potatoes, Zucchini, Ginger, Yellow Squash, Cherries, a Mango and a Peach. The peppers and greens looked good, and I was happy to see sacks of Black Eyed Peas in the freezer section. There are seeds, plants and flowers placed outside and near the front of the store. The service here is great. Highly recommended.
