Respect is earned not given. It's not because of the quality of their work, it may be great for all I know but because of their business practices. I requested a quote for a white vinyl panel fence to be extended from my backyard around my entire house. In my request, I asked for an itemized statement of how much material will be and how much labor will be. The sales person told me oh we don't do that. I'm standing there thinking and saying well how do I know what I'm paying for? He stated the owner said you "can take it or leave it." Well let me tell you something owner, I don't do business that way. Apparently you do business with people who have so much money they don't care if they get screwed out of it without getting a kiss...I on the other hand do. I want to know what I'm paying for upfront whether it be $20k or 1M! Having said that, you keep on trucking down that road you're on now and pray it doesn't catch up with you one day by the people reading this and saying to themselves, wait a minute, she's right...that is how we do business in the good ol' USA! That said, his knowledge of irrigation and pump issues, in my opinion, is very limited but still charges a plumbers hourly rate of $167.50 per hour for that service. He spent more time explaining what the issue might be and what it didn't seem that it was than he did actually doing anything. I have had a number of plumbers perform work and never had one bill that high of a rate. He was actually onsite working for 2 1/2 hours but billed for 3. His $40 trip fee for 46 miles round trip was reasonable. After spending 2+ hours of testing electrical and musing over logistics of how to fix, his diagnosis was to replace the submersible pump and control box. A neighbor and friend came over, while Robert was still here, dug down to find the lines going to and from the pond pump. Spent 15 minutes on the internet to discover there was a reset switch on the control box, returned to push that button and the sprinkler system now works. His skill as a plumber may be very good but do NOT call for sprinkler related problems. He did 'give' me a 10% senior citizen discount but the bill was still over $488. He charges $168 per hour while the average doctor in the US, as of June 2024, is around $65. Look (and ask) before you leap. I hate giving a bad review but felt compelled to provide this information. read less
