When you first hear, "Rent to Own" it can leave you with feelings and fears of getting a substandard home that the person you are in a contract with won't repair if you find an issue, Will leave you in that Rent to Own Status FOREVER with no paperwork ever being filed with the County showing you are an actual home and property owner, Rents that are unreasonably high for the area, Money paid that is never paying down the principal, etc etc etc. However, on a whim, we contacted this company 4 years ago and they are the exception. We met Lee and Lynette as Business People that we wanted to hopefully have the opportunity to buy a home from and were expecting to be ripped off and taken advantage of. However, Within the original date they had given us, that home and property was officially in our names with the County. 1. They asked us what we could afford to pay a month and what we were looking for. They listened to those numbers, stuck to those numbers. Had a home that matched what we wanted and we were able to work out a mutually workable deal for that home without pressure. 2. There was NOT a pressure sales talk when we spoke with them. These were the homes they had available, this was the amount they could take for these homes, this was the income we felt we could spend each monthly comfortably on housing. That was the discussion. For us, there was an immediate solution that fit together. For others I know of, there has not been something that fit then but then they get another property a month or 2 later that does work for the other person and call them back. 3. When they do acquire a property, they spend A LOT of time there cleaning, painting, and repairing things. They have professionals fix things that they normally would. If you move into a property under a Rent To Own, you are not on your own. 4. They are business people, but they are good people. They are not out to hurt people or get one over on people. They honestly went into this to help people out. And they will if you do your part. Here is my only disclaimer: We allow very few people into our lives. Because of how we have been treated by them and the way they show that they actually do care about people as real people above the money, they are now family to us. Even if that was not so, it would not change anything that was said in this review as it it an accurate account of our experience with them.

We hired Moncrief Renovations LLC in late 2023 to complete a major renovation and addition at our…read morelongtime family home in Pooler, GA. Our experience has been extremely disappointing and stressful from start to finish. The project was plagued by poor communication, repeated delays, and a lack of follow-through. Subcontractors often didn't show up as scheduled, and weeks would pass with little progress. We were left without a working kitchen or laundry for long periods, which caused significant inconvenience and additional expenses for our family. Jobsite cleanliness and care for our property were lacking. Demolition and construction damaged our existing floors, resulting in thousands of dollars in refinishing costs. While the owner admitted responsibility, we never received adequate compensation or resolution. The most serious problem was discovered after the renovation: severe moisture, mold, and structural damage that had never existed in our home's 60-year history. Multiple independent professionals--including the city inspector, a technical expert, and an inspector sent by their own insurance company--concluded that Moncrief Renovations violated building code by blocking crawlspace ventilation, creating a moisture trap that led to extensive damage. Despite providing Moncrief with detailed documentation, inspection reports, and repeated requests for resolution, they failed to take responsibility or correct the issues. We have since filed complaints with the Georgia Secretary of State Licensing Board, the Georgia Department of Insurance, and are seeking further action. I would strongly advise anyone considering Moncrief Renovations LLC to proceed with extreme caution. Our experience has resulted in major property damage, financial loss, and ongoing stress.

Ricky Eilerman had been our real estate agent and did us a great favor in recommending Jimmy Moncrief and his team of pro's! I engaged with Jimmy and he came out and evaluated our needs and brought in a couple more of his 'idea' craftsmen in a later meeting. They not only came up with an unexpected solution, using state of the art materials, but the price quoted was right where we wanted it to have been, so we engaged them and got on the schedule. I've posted both before and after photos that show the great transformation they created. You can see by the bright interior now that we at last have a porch that we can use!! Most importantly, REALLY enjoy!!! They accomplished all of that. By the way, the outdoor fan was a GREAT suggestion they gave us and makes the room all the more exceptional!! The exterior of the house was almost completely destroyed by wood rot and the previous owners neglect. He and his staff worked tirelessly for months to get the house back into shape. He does not cut corners, he cleans up after each day and he is reliable in finishing the work.
