Getting plants from this Armstrong. The plant I got has a lower price than others. Employers told me it's a price tag from manufacturer, not the actual price tag. It was about $2.39 but the price for me is supposed to be $6.39... so it appeared to be a $4 markup. Ouch. But the employee also tells me the cheaper price is not scannable because it's from the manufacturer. Sigh... It's a super hot day. I'm glad they had a cooler with cold bottle water free to grab. Wow where to start. I do not have a green thumb, but was given so much help and insight on what would work for the Orchid plant I was gifted. I also asked for the wrong product for my whiteflies/aphids on my bush outside. What I was going to put on it would have burned the leaves during the summer. I had a wonderful experience at Armstrong Garden Center! They have an amazing variety of flowers, and I picked up a few items that I'm really happy with. The whole place is so organized and clean. it's a pleasure just to walk around in. I will say, sometimes their prices are a bit higher compared to other garden centers, but it's definitely worth it for the quality. The fact that Armstrong is employee owned is always an incentive for me to shop here, but that is matched by the quality of their plants, tools, amendments, and other items for sale...not to mention the super helpful and knowledgeable employee/owners. My photos only show this season's produce plants and harvest, which is gangbusters, but Armstrong is my local go to for my yard needs. The selection is exceptional, always. I get various ties and other control accessories, pots, tools, soil amendments, & the best watering wands from our local Armstrong. Some of my best ornamental and fruit trees came from Armstrong as well as many of my trellises & decorations. Along with purchases, comes the advice and recommendations from the knowledgeable staff who are always ready to provide good insight, guidance, and troubleshooting issues in my garden. This is an update on a previous post- I purchased 26 shrubs to be grown into hedges and so I thought I'd pay the extra money for the pick and plant service so that it would be done professionally and correctly, so as to give my shrubs a better success rate and look better than I thought I'd be able to do. After the installation, I noticed some spacing issues and a few details I wasn't satisfied with. After speaking to someone from Armstrong, I was able to bring up the issues I had with the planting and they were able to make things right. Very nice garden center. I can tell they put a lot of effort into keeping their plants healthy. It really shows compared to other big box stores that sells plants. The succulent and cactus variety is a bit limited. The indoor plants are amazing though. They all look so great. The only downside is that the plants are on the pricier end but you get what you pay for. read more

I have been to this Armstrong Garden Center since 2020 during Covid-19 period. Back then I wasn't a Yelper at the time. Hence, I didn't check in or did reviews or posted pictures. Here I am today as a Yelper writing this review. I still remember my 1st visit. I was looking for a lilac tree or bush. I didn't find one unfortunately. But I did find myself walking through the outside garden looking at all the beautiful and serene flowers, plans, and cacti. It's like visting a garden, but for free. Inside had a lot of different gardening tools and backyard decor. I ended up buying a fake cacti for my desk and something bee related that I don't recall. Staff is always pleasant and nice. I'd been meaning to repot my plants for a while but could never find the time to do so. I searched on Yelp for a plant nursery near me and this one came up. I really loved that it was a one-stop shop. I not only found the potting soil that I needed but I ended up with a new pot, a re-potting tray, some gloves, the whole nine, but I loved it. I actually needed to move one of my pots to a bigger home so it all worked out. The staff was even nice enough to help me carry everything out to my car with me. read more

I have been a long time and regular customer of this location. However, today was my last day ever shopping here again. When I went to pay for my items with cash, I was told they couldn't accept my cash because of not having change. The amount of change I would have been owed was a minimal amount, and the person at the register didn't even check the drawer to see what change was available. It was very strange. I'm sure they have all the modern advancements and technologies other businesses do to check if currency is fake, but that wasn't done. I left empty handed and went to Lowes. Lowes doesn't have the variety of plants armstrongs does, but they took my cash just fine. I strongly feel there was some sort of bias or discriminatory decision behind not accepting my cash. I'll miss their selection, but it's not worth the humiliation. read more

I've been coming to this Armstrong location for years. They always have a good selection of plants and trees. They also have cool cards to gift for birthdays or thank you's. One thing I would suggest for staff is to be more willing to help when one is looking for something specific. I found myself needing seeds and pots recently but no one was available and when I did find someone it seemed like he did not want to help. However, I love the atmosphere and vibe. I love that they have classical music playing in the background. I like going to Armstrong when I'm stressed or have some free time because I get a peaceful feeling with all the beautiful flowers and trees. Every year I find my fav squash here. Patty Pan. For some reason no one seems to carry it or they're always out when I get there. It's the patty pan squash that look like little light green flying saucers. All the veggies that I buy here grows well in the High Desert. It's almost like going to a free botanical garden compete with music piped in. It's just a great place to stroll or a great place to load a cart of plants & flowers that you had you no plan to buy. I looked high and low for a Loropetalum bush in Razzelberry. I called here and eureka!! They said they have it. Sarah was the one who helped me and she was so great. Their system said they had 4 but we couldn't find them anywhere. On a cold drizzling day she searched for me until she found them. What amazing customer service!! I am one happy gardener!! The garden center itself is absolutely beautiful. They have such a huge, diverse selection of plants. I'm never going back to Home Depot and Lowe's again! I had to hold myself back from buying so many beautiful plants. I also love the selection of decor and other items inside the shop. I could spend hours here. Vicky is my saving grace... though she is always incredibly busy she nevertheless takes the time to assist me through all of my jacked up plant adventures. This is my neighborhood nursery I have been coming here for over 22 years. I buy my soil, pot, bulbs and plants from here. All of their indoor and outdoor plants look fantastic. They may not have the pretentious-well-sought-after lately variety but they have plenty of your standard favorites for the zone we live in. It's always tidy here prices are in par with the smaller boutique nurseries I have found. Today I heard a lady say in line she was so glad she came here after Home Depot and Lowes because not only does all the plants look healthier the service she encountered was like night and day at the previous locations. Weekends are busy here. I like to go by after work during the week. If you are in the market for plant supplies they have plenty of that here as well. Plant hooks, decorative rocks, plant food, soil, hanging baskets, teraniums, macramé rope, wind chimes, self watering plant pal kits, lawn furniture etc. etc. Bulbs are out right now over by the seeds and they're usually full price until around late winter (January) then they'll mark them down sometimes if they have any left but be sure you are getting the 411 on messing with any bulbs. The customer service is consistently pleasant, they even let me email them pictures for them to make a diagnosis on my green children or let me know I need to bring it in. They have a variety of plants from indoor to outdoor, the ones I saw indoors were a healthy selection.They also have nice pots-a bit overly priced though. The only problem here is the service. I would like to thank Armstrong garden for having Jaun only reason I gave four stars but sadly not five due to other employe. At the time we were picking up a statue lady of roses which is very heavy but so beautiful for my garden:) anyhow back to Jaun he was so so wonderful and kind we appreciated all his help. My husband is a disabled vet and he helped us with his machinery to get it up and into our car. We will definitely be coming back we love some of there selections that we don't find at other Armstrongs. Unfortunately the only part we negatively experienced was a young man that made it clear to us that he would not be able to assist in putting in our car just watching make some smart mouth remarks that really were not necessary! We really needed to go to this Armstrong Garden Center, as it is at the eastern boundary of Los Angeles County, where folks from LA may not frequent as much. We found the plants we were looking for, and found a nice selection of plants to choose from. There were plenty of employees to help us out, and many busy bees thankful for the nectar from the gorgeous blooms of sweet flowers to make honey. We are hoping to help the local bee and hummingbird population by planting these winter flowers and hoping that it attracts the wonders of nature... read more

I love Armstrong's! I come here for the mini succulents. I'm trying to grow my collection so I can eventually take clippings from each instead of buying new ones. They have baby succulents for I believe $3.50? The staff is friendly and doesn't pester you like they do at other nurseries. I prefer when employees don't ask shoppers a million questions lol I don't buy pots here but they have a nice selection. I like to go go secondhand stores for pots so I don't usually buy them new. Spectricide Weed Stop Very disappointed in this product. Purchased on the recommendation of an Armstong Garden Nursery employee who guaranteed me that this chemical would kill off the oxalis (clover-like weed with yellow flowers) infestation in my lawns. In fact the weed grew faster as if this 'weed stop' acted like a fertilizer! I'm going back to topical applications of Ortho's Weed Be Gone. I can but this at Lowe's. While not 100% effective it at least stunts what it doesn't kill off of oxalis. I'm giving this product a '2 stars' in case it actually killed off any germinating crabgrass. read more

The most incompetent store i've been in. Ordered plants. Paid for delivery/installation. Nobody called. Tried calling store. They don't pick up. Had to go in person to do it. Their truck for delivery was not available during the day of installation. They called to confirm a date change. The plants showed up on the wrong day, with the wrong plant, with an overcharge. Nothing really good or bad of to speak of here. Had been to the Armstrong in La Cañada and Glendale, so had a fairly good idea of what to expect. This is a mid-sized Armstrong with a good amount of outdoor space and had the plants (herbs), seeds (cherry tomatoes), and pots/saucers I was looking for. There are a lot of employees but they're not that eager to come up and help. One asked us if we needed help and we asked something about planting Swiss Chard and his eyes got round and he sort of shrugged so we said we'd just look it up online ourselves. The next employee to help us was the cashier who asked if we were some sort of members, and he didn't say much after that. Overall, we got what we wanted, and the restroom was clean, and the prices were reasonable. The customer service was perfunctory but not rude. Nothing particularly notable in any way here. read more

Their knowledge of a variety of plants is impressive to say the least, I will say the customer service there is not always the best, often times I avoid some of the older people who work there because they're not initially the friendliest but do have the best knowledge on everything plants.
