We tolerated a lot of bad behavior before we said anything. But once they were paid and the paint started to crack (within months) and we asked them to repair under the warranty they showed their true colors. Not to mention leaving food trash in my house, using our new sink to wash brushes, dumping their waste on the backside of a tree in our backyard (which is now dead), bringing their toddler to work, and the daily excuses of why they were behind schedule (including a weather excuse when the job was indoors). The owner is hostile and accusatory. When we had our first round of warranty issues he was unpleasant to deal with and when the 2nd round of cracks/peels appeared and we contacted him for warranty work, he ignored us and then attacked our character on social media by telling lies. We asked for a partial refund to hire another contractor to correct the cracks/peels but was ignored. He claims he wasn't aware of our issues as he's responding to text messages. Go look at Google reviews or Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester county court files. Personal or business cases go back a decade. Do not hire or you will be upset!

Jake cleared most of work with us as he completed each step (sheet rock, drywall mud, electrical, etc.) Everything was moving swimmingly, and frankly a 5 star rating, until we got towards the end and a minor mishap by CHS handyman with the flooring caused a delay in completion of the entire space (work after Jake's initial portion). While the delay was unfortunate this wasn't something to dissuade us from working with Jake in the future. The cons of our experience come after all of this occurs. Jake had asked us to make a "punch list" of things to clean up cosmetically for him when he came back. We had also spoken about completing some floorboards for the room at an additional price. We said we would love to do both and when the time came we would follow up. We reached out to Jake to inform him the basement was cleared for him to do the floorboards and to complete the "punch list" of items for cosmetic clean-up. Jake did not reply to these inquiries. TLDR: - removed 1 star for ghosting us in completion of additional work. Leading to further delays in completion of the space. - removed 1 star for not following through with punch-list items. We tried to get them to fix under warranty and they claim we need to pay for their installer to come out and if he agrees it was the installer fault they'll reimburse us. This isn't how a reputable business should operate. If you're going to hire them you better watch them the entire time or they will cut corners. The Crosstown crew arrived timely in the am and quickly began preparation to protect my property and landscaping during the demolition process. The crew was very amiable and courteous... it was evident they enjoyed working together. When it became clear that the job would continue the following day, the crew protected and cleaned the job site. The crew returned on time again the following morning and finished the job. The worksite was left clean. The only way I knew they were there was the beautiful new roof and glowing solar tubes they had skillfully installed.
