I visited Arnold Clark in Salford during my ongoing search to find a new car. I was originally confused in finding out which brands were located here, as they come up on Google Maps as a Vauxhall dealer, and also list Vauxhall on their website, even though Vauxhall isn't stocked here. The nearby Arnold Clark in Stretford does have Vauxhall however, but this confusion should be addressed. The dealership is fairly large, and it is split across a large MG building, and a smaller building with FIAT. I was more interested in taking a look at the new FIAT 500 electric model, which was in the smaller building. They did appear to be understaffed, with only one staff member working, he didn't appear in the slightest interested in communicating with me, he provided very little information about the car and just left me to it, I felt like a nuisance and a bother just by speaking to him. I wasn't too impressed with the car overall, mainly down to the size, it felt comfortable to drive but the lack of space wouldn't have been suitable for my needs. Do not buy from this company. Tried to lease a car on the 18th of August and because of their incompetence and their errors when processing a finance check on my credit report, they applied 47 times for check which has hugely impacted my credit score. They won't take any responsibility for it and now I am left with a bad credit score, it went from 946 to 720 and also no vehicle. When addressing this with the staff and management, their response was "well just cancel the car then" and "it's not our issue". 8 weeks later, and I am still in the same position, no vehicle and a bad credit score. Walking into the showroom of Arnold Clark in Salford, a Vauxhall and Chevrolet dealership, I felt a whirlwind of emotions. Confusion, certainly. Fear, a little excitement. We weren't purchasing for me, but for my dad- see, I've yet to have my first driving lesson and am quite considerably terrified of this ever happening. I was born to be driven around, not drive.. There was a fun atmosphere - radio blaring, superb receptionist and loads of cheeky sales guys. They do test drives and have a motability specialist for disabled people here as well as regular sales. A service desk (slow, but they looked overworked) and parts department completes the set up at this dealership near to the Albion Way/ Regent Road part of Salford. For the time being there's loads of money off with the government scrappage scheme - that's what made my dad go have a look. Girls like a half price sale on tights but when the discount is £3000 you're not really going to say no, right? Our salesman knew his stuff (or checked it for us), showed us round the models and seemed like he was trying to get us a good deal as well as make some money for the company. Apparently Arnold Clark makes money through small profits in volume rather than doing the customers out of loads of money on one Corsa.. The rest of the customers that we encountered seemed to be just as happy as we were, too. So the whole sales team must be equally competent. Well what can I say about Arnold Clark? This is where I'm getting my first from Fiat 500 S . Nothing was too much trouble for the sales team and even as it was now dark and was raining outside they brought the cars from the compound into an adjacent showroom so I could view them by direct comparison in bright light as well as keep dry at the same time! They came up with a good acceptable deal and I bought the pre registered car (with delivery miles on it) and agreed to pick it up later that week. I have to say however that I do not think the hand over was as good as he was actually selling me the car. read more

Going to give Arnold Clark a 4,the sales man that we dealt with is worth a solid 5 (Darren) being as he was very polite and also very professional when dealing with us. They lose a star however because of the lack of info coming our way since we ordered our new car,i'm being pick really,when we ordered it the deal was then passed onto someone else and we were told it would be a couple of weeks before the car would be ready,after 15 days of not hearing anything it was left to Mrs Z to get in touch with them,a minor gripe but a little communication on their part would've been nice. Was here recently to get my car serviced and MOTed. I booked online no problem. Friendly service. I had heard about the Vauxhall 2 year service plan - which saved you money - and they were able to sort it all out. I was told that they would give me a call when the car was ready - which they did around 3pm - I live about 30 minutes walk from it - luckily it was not raining! Unfortunately, there is not really a nearby tram - I could have taken the bus I guess or the train station - which is about 10 minutes away. Not really worth it for me as I would be halfway home by then! If I decided to stay and wait, there is a nice waiting area with a TV and magazines etc. When I picked up my car, someone showed me to my car - which I was happy to discover had been washed. I initially called after seeing a vehicle on AutoTrader. The individual who answered the phone, Annie, was both prompt and courteous in her service. Then, I was forwarded to Peter Earnshaw, a sales rep for Arnold Clark. He invited me down to see the vehicle and offered to reserve it for me for a fully refundable £100 deposit - pretty fair in my opinion. So, I visited the showroom and saw the vehicle (BMW 3 series - £18,500). It had a few tiny defects/flaws, which I pointed out to Peter. He promised that by the end of the week, they would all be fixed, at no additional cost (alloy buff, repainting of front offside bumper, valet, and touch up paint of driver's side door). Unlike other car companies, Peter offered me a test drive for as long as I wanted - not a 3 minute journey up and down the road. This drive confirmed that the vehicle was right for me, after driving it over normal roads, bumpy roads and then the motorway (massive bonus points for this - it shows they have nothing to hide about the car). So, back on Monday to re-inspect the car after the touch-up work. Unfortunately, I arrived a bit later than agreed (traffic) but regardless, Peter made time for me and ensured I received his full attention. True to his word, the car was immaculate. He didn't rush me, answered my (endless) questions, and was a genuinely nice guy. He didn't use any of the slimy sales tactics you can sometimes expect at showrooms, but was honest and direct and his approach. After discussing the different payment options, including finance, I opted for a cash purchase. Despite this, obviously, not generating as much revenue for the company, Peter wasn't pushy or forceful. Then, opposed to the usual drivel of going through the 650,392 add-on products available (alloy insurance, extended warranty, etc.), Peter simply offered a single product: GAP insurance to cover the write-off cost versus the cash price. He explained this product to me once, I responded with no, and we moved on. Again, massive bonus points for not trying to force or use scare tactics to sell the product. Finally, after paying for the car and getting ready to drive away, I noticed the spare key had a dead battery. Straight away, Peter offered two resolutions: leave it with him to fix, or bring it back the following Monday to have it done on-site while I wait. This is despite me paying for the car and him having "done his job" - indicative of good service. To top it off, I mistakenly left my driving license at the showroom (I didn't know) and received a phone call a few days later. They are posting it back to me, recorded delivery, for free of charge. Honestly, based on my experience, I do not know how this place has a single negative review. I unreservedly recommend both Arnold Clark and Peter Earnshaw to any prospective customers. read more

Really shocked as such a well known dealer ship would leave a customer who has bought her van from them which is still not working. After being told that her van would work 8 times the same problem has occurred is not acceptable. But best of all people they will not give her a courtesy car to continue running her business. So much for being a reliable traders don't buy a vehicle from here people all you'll get is a unprofessional customer service and a broken vehicle. read more

In May 2016 I took my car to Arnold Clark Salford for some minor repairs they fixed problem but the following day I noticed my car had a leak under the bonnet, airbag light and seat light was on. I took it back for another health check, found out there was an oil leak and that there was some wiring problem for airbag light to come on. Spoke to the service manager about the issues he didn't even bother to find out exactly what the issues were until I told him. He basically do not want to acknowledge or investigate further. The first time they did the health check it did not highlight these problems. My car had a full service and pass its MOT in April two months later now my car is unsafe to be on the road. Is great they offer me free health checks and then mess it up and priced me with a heavy bill of over £500 for a new gasket and probably over £200 or £300 just to fix the wiring for the airbag light.
