    Complimentary Bread and Chimichurri
    Emily H.

We met the owners of Arrabalito at the farmer's market and decided to give the restaurant a try. The owners and their daughter greeted us as we walked in. These are the type of owners who truly CARE about the restaurant and the people who dine in the restaurant! As we were dining we could see the owners walking around seeing ways how they could make their restaurant better. It's quality and care like that that makes Arrabalito a gem. Things to note: It's open air and a small restaurant The restaurant doesn't open until 6:30pm. It is a CASH ONLY restaurant. The service is a bit slower then some places - but it's Mexico, so what's your rush anyways!? Highlights - Brick Oven Pizza. YUM. Open air kitchen and watching the family prep your dinner Charcoal Grill lit with the coals from the brick oven Chimichurri. IT was the best Chimichurri anyone at our table had ever had (there were 11 of us dining together). Empanadas were VERY good. Eleven of us ate and were happily satisfied for about $6 USD/person. It was a great value for the meal and experience we had!

The food and service was amazing, and the resetraunt's outdoor space was one-of-a kind. On top of it, the planning staff were extremely helpful and responsive throughout the process. The tables are scattered throughout the trees and bushes with plenty of space between them lending to the romantic atmosphere. There is an amazing bar wrapped around a gigantic beautiful tree that is a sight to behold. We ordered cocktails with the appetizers and wine with the main course. The cocktails were outstanding and the local wine that we chose was as well. The food is all amazing and beautiful and served family style. The servers were young and extremely polite and knowledgeable. They can recommend the number of dishes needed to share with the table. We tried four of their appetizers. We started with the Blue corn and organic whole wheat with a puree of seasonal vegetables as well as cucumber caviar, a tomato salad and a beet salad. All of them were flavorful with beautiful presentation. Our main courses were steak, ravioli and oysters. Again, the presentation and flavors were phenomenal. We ended with two desserts, a soufflé and a chocolate cake both came with ice cream and they were both delicious!

They had us pre-order all of our menu items, and we had two people who had a family emergency who couldn't make it. I asked the server if we could cut it down to which they were fine with, and I asked her if our order was a reasonable amount of food for six people. She said the portions were small and this was a reasonable order. She also mentioned the shrimp was very small came with three pieces each so we needed two for the party. After seating at 8:30, we did not get any food until 9 pm, one hour after our reservation, even though everything was pre-ordered. There is no reason to pre-order if you can't get the food out in a reasonable timeframe. On top of that, we had to ask multiple times for blankets, water glasses weren't refilled, and things were forgotten. By this point, our celebrant had gotten very tired and was falling asleep waiting for all of our food. Our entrees came, and it was an extreme amount of food for 6 people. They gave us an extra entree that we did not order and they were insistent that we did. After checking our pre-order email, we did in fact only order one. The shrimp actually came with 4-5 pieces, so we didn't need two orders. While the food was great, the lack of service, bad time management, and inattentiveness to the whole meal was not appreciated. Be aware if you're booking a large party. Giving a second star for the good food.

We stopped in most mornings for something quick, but dinner stood out much more than breakfast. If you're choosing just one meal, I'd go for the nighttime views and make a reservation to avoid getting stuck waiting. We've tried their Enchiladas, Ribeye, country potatoes side, Kampachi, Shrimp & Lobster Tostada, Smoked Tuna Tostada, "Callo de Hacha," Kumiai Oyster, "Costeño Style" Red Snapper, Mixed Tomato Salad, Short Rib "Doraditas," Green Rice with Chile Poblano, Wild Mushroom side, and Mexican Street Corn side. I'd happily order the Kampachi on repeat and the wild mushrooms were so, so good.

Once you get to the front door you are greeted by the hostess where you walk through a short hallway to the main bar area that is surrounded by shelves filled with pottery. The interiors are stunning!! We were seated in their outdoor patio area, which is absolutely beautiful. This area has a cozy fire pit area for lounging and hanging out with friends and is surrounded by small tables for romantic dinners or larger tables for groups. Either way it is romantic and the backdrop is a spectacular fountain with 3 whale tails as sculptures! The music is clubby and fun! Tonight our sever was Thomas and he was so good! He greeted us shortly after we sat down and got our drink orders. . He also told us at this point all the specials for the night. He gave us time to think over our choices and came back with the cocktails to get our orders. Then he coursed out everything perfectly. We started with tonights special of Toro and added Hamachi off the menu. Those were spectacular not only in presentation but taste! and the fish extremely fresh! Three of the four of us had a shrimp and crab enchiladas, all the other had the grilled chicken. All the portions were perfect and very flavorful! Overall, everything about this restaurant was spectacular including the two cats that wander through the restaurant. They only come over if you invite them, and they are adorable. I'm not sure if they're there all the time but they were there tonight.

For a nice meal, you can't go wrong here! I went with the daily special because the server said it was very good and he was so right! The meat was tender, flavorful and I absolutely loved the big pieces of garlic and avocado! My daughter ordered the enchiladas (substituting the duck for beef) and she also loved her choice. She said it was like bbq but better. I preferred my garlicy chili beef while she preferred her enchiladas so both of us couldn't have left more satisfied. A jicama rosemary juice was also on special that day and also was very good! The seating area is outside under a white canopy to allow for enjoying the gorgeous weather you came to Cabo for. Every detail is pulled together well here with the blues, whites and splash of color using fresh flowers on the tables. The server was also very attentive but not hovering. The prices were very reasonable as well for the quality of food you're getting! This place is a must when in Cabo if you're looking for amazing food in a gorgeous and relaxing setting. It is a bit off the beaten path from the typical tourist hot spots but so worth it!!
