I've been on the neverending hunt for the perfect piece of art for my family room. I've always…read moreadmired the artwork from the window when walking by, but finally took the time on stop in. I was lucky enough to have the gallery to myself. I took a quick look around and didn't see anything that would work well for the space I'm trying to fill, but then showed Krisi and she took me downstairs where there was so much amazing artwork. I admired painting after painting of artists such as Eric Abrecht (already have one of his gorgeous landscapes in my house), Marshall Noice, Rodger Bechtold and more. I found 2 paintings that could work and krisi was nice enough to photoshop them into the space. Once I saw them on the wall I feared one would clash with the colors in the room and the other was a little smaller than what I was looking for. Unfortunately, my hunt continues, but I'll continue to check out this gorgeous gallery for future art buying needs. They have beautiful work that's appropriately priced. We are lucky to have such a lovely gallery right here in Glencoe.

When a friend recently showed me a gorgeous painting she had purchased here I decided to stop in to look for a space I've been looking to fill in my family room. Cynthia could not have been sweeter and after seeing a picture of the space showed me a bunch of paintings that could work. She has so much gorgeous art in this gallery, but I especially liked Amie Campbell's work. She photoshopped a few of my favorite pieces into the room and while I loved the artwork, I didn't think they were quite right for the space. I"m continuing to search for the perfect piece for this particular room, but I'll definitely be back to look for future artwork needs.

Find a gallery whose artists enrich your soul, whose works belong in your home. Get to know their work. Buy a few pieces. My personal favorite is Zia Gallery in Winnetka. Zia's small space houses the work of 19 extraordinary artists. I have followed their works for several years, have purchased a few pieces, and cherish every opportunity to see new additions. Without fail, my visits there are enriched by talking to Anne Hughes, who not only can illuminate her own creative process, but is as intimately familiar with every other artist's work as with her own. Visit Zia's website to see examples. Then adopt one of their artists. You don't have to spend a fortune. The pieces I have bought at this gallery have ranged from $200 to $1200 and I cherish them. Others I've admired cost much more. Buy what you can afford, but don't let these vibrant galleries die. Just. Do. It.

They also usually have daily discounts on certain smoothies! My go to favorites are the Fan C, Manberry and the Tropical! I searched all over the North Shore, Chicago and even Sun Valley, Idaho for the perfect painting for my family room. And finally I found it here. It was perfect and also priced fairly. Unlike other gallery owners Michael wasn't willing to negotiate at all on price, but he did hang it for me. Months later I purchased 4 paintings from a local artist and stopped back in to get 3 of them framed by Michael. He took about 2 weeks to frame them and did a beautiful job...and once again hung them and another painting for me. I love supporting local and Michael is a lovely man with gorgeous artwork and impeccable framing/hanging skills so look forward to being a longtime customer.
