Me and my friend are here just about every week, and we LOVE it there. I first came here for a birthday party. Mind you this party was for ages 30+ but we all had a blast! Prices were great! Staff was friendly and helpful. Over all just a great experience which is why i keep coming back. Plus painting here is such a big stress reviler for me. So its almost therapy! The owner is a very nice woman. Always friendly and talks to us all the time. I've noticed other reviews on here think differently, but I'm sure it's because rules were not followed and people don't like being reminded that rules apply to everyone and they are NOT the exception. Anyways, Her selection of plaster pieces is enormous! So much variety and range from little tiny things....to extra large pieces AND prices are great! The cheapest items will run about 10$ and most expensive would be ~60-70$ for a BIG piece. And there are NO studio or supply fees! Everything is included in the purchase price of the piece you choose. They also offer glazing/firing here! for 3$ extra you can use glaze to paint your piece and with a week turn around for firing get a great looking piece! Recently visited with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. We brought mimosas and spent the afternoon painting together. Had a great time!! It is a mother/daughter duo that run the business. They were super nice and helpful!! They do not charge a sitting fee, you just pay for the ceramic piece you pick out. I thought the prices were really reasonable considering it also covers the paint, apron, table coverings, paper towels, as well as use of their space, brushes and paint trays. We picked out large serving pieces, which were each about $50. You can choose a gloss that can be dried in half an hour which is included in the price of the piece or have it sent out to be fired which is an extra $4 per piece. They even clean up for you afterwards. The space is huge, with lots of tables to work at and tons of ceramics to choose from. I highly recommend checking this fun venue out!! read more

Now don't get me started. I bring my friends here alll the time. We are in our 20's and it's a nice relaxing time to paint and talk about anything. Prices? GREAT! Service? AMAZING! Atmosphere? LOVE IT, only when there is no field trips. So many options to choose from if the pottery to paint and the paint colors. If you get the standard colors/gloss it's done within an hour. Which is good because that's lunch hour and once we're done we pick it up! I love it there and the owner is so sweet and always chatty with us. read more

We recently had an event at Paint N Party for the cheer team at my local high school. We had such a great time, and the turn out was great. The staff there is amazing! So helpful, and knowledgable on all the ceramic pieces. They handle all ages of kids/students very well and keep the environment fun and friendly. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! I came with some girlfriends to celebrate my friends 30th. They clearly went over instructions and it was a fun and affordable way to celebrate. When I came back to pick up our pieces ten days later, i brought my two year old son who had equally as much fun. They customize the experience to the age of the painter and I had a great experience both times. My only complaint was my son painted a tractor and they asked if he wanted it glossy or sparkly. We decided glossy and when we came to pick it up the lady accidentally made it sparkly. Which is totally fine and we don't care but maybe offer a discount for next time or something. That would have gone above and beyond. read more

Reasonably priced ceramics and the attendants were absolutely friendly! They have a wide variety of ceramics to choose from and once you've picked, they will give you instructions on how to paint them and ask whether you want the free glitter or gloss afterwards. None of these paint it yourself places are cheap, but this one felt like it was more reasonable than other places I have been. The workers/family-and-owner here were all very helpful and patient as we worked on our projects. We had plenty of space from others working on projects and plenty of supplies for our projects. This place is excellent, even better than its mall location suggests. Not only do they have a pretty great selection, but the other day my two boys and I came in, and had a great time. I selected a tiny dragon just to have something to do while my boys painted a giant unicorn head and a tank, respectively. Donna, the owner, stopped by our table a few times to chit chat and check on our progress, as well as compliment myself and the boys on our painting. She was very welcoming, friendly, and made the experience so much more fun than it otherwise would have been. But the kicker was when we came back in two days later. This woman has a pretty high volume of customer traffic, and there are always a lot of people in and out. The second we walked in, she blurted "picking up the unicorn head, dragon, and tank?" I was pretty stunned at her memory. This just shows again how awesome this place is. She wrapped all of our stuff and we had another great little conversation and then were on our way. My family and I really enjoy coming here to paint. When the spot we used to go to years ago in Evanston closed, I found Paint N Party. Now that my children are older, we still go for yearly ornament painting and also go when we just want to paint and we have a break in the schedule. I went here with a park district group I work for, and we had a really good time. The place is located in Golf Mill mall and is very well-organized. The owner is the nicest lady too. We had some people in our group who required special accommodations, and she was easily able to provide them without batting an eye. There are a ton of pieces to choose from to paint, ranging in price greatly from under $10 to really expensive. The store provides everything you would near - smocks, paint, glitter, brushes, etc. We painted our items, left to have dinner elsewhere in the mall, and she had every piece packed and ready for us to go by the time we were ready to leave. This would make a great place for a kids birthday party, or just to take your child there for a fun afternoon. read more

I am always looking for different things to do with my kids to create experiences for them. Things they will remember and something fun and a learning experience as well. Groupon had a deal and I was SOLD! I have to admit I was intimidated about bringing my 4 year old son into a pottery store but once he was able to select his piece to paint that fear went away. We had my niece's birthday party at Paint-N-Party and there were ten 9 year olds. The staff were organized, expedient, kept the children entertained, and safe at the back of the store. This was a great and inexpensive way to celebrate a birthday and we were allowed to bring cake and pizza into the party food area. At the end of the party all the children lined up to collect their finished piece. The child was shown their piece and then staff carefully wrapped each piece placing them into individual bags to be taken home. Each child now has a ceramic piece to remember this child's birthday. I highly recommend this shop to both adults and children. In response to the review from Jessica M. you should always make sure you check your piece over before leaving the store. The staff always give you the opportunity to do so, before wrapping your ceramic. You would not call Target or Kohl's and tell them your items you bought were broken and expect to get a refund or credit without bringing the item into the store, so why would you expect the ceramic shop to be any different? I have known this ceramic shop owner for over a year and she is very fair and willing to work with the customer, but as with any other store you need to expect to take your item back to the store. read more

I had always wanted to try one of these ceramic painting places and with the advent of the Groupon I finally decided to give it a try despite having an unsteady hand and horrible painting skills. I cannot really comment on pricing, since I have no basis for comparison. You pay the price of whatever is listed on the ceramic piece. Small figurines are around $5 but you can get mugs, plates, cups, etc that range in prices that did not seem too outrageous from $10 to $25. Some detailed pieces were really pricey, though, such a giant stein with lid. You have to pay extra to have your piece glazed and fired. Though I have no basis for price comparison, I can comment on the great customer service. They helped me even though there was a children's party going on at the same time, taking time to answer questions and bring additional materials as needed. Despite sating my curiosity, I may go again in the future since I was eyeing one of those beer steins. But this time I am going to cut out a stencil I can use to make a kick-ass design. read more

I love actually coming here. I've brought my students here at least once a year for the past 3 or 4 years and then actually had them come out to us this year. Going there was always easy, especially because the kids got to choose what they wanted to paint (within a price range, of course). Also, the employees are super friendly. I've even brought my niece here and we had a really good time just listening to music and painting. Everything was very simple when we went there. Now, when they were booked to come here... that was a mess. First of all, the owner was over 15 minutes late, and didn't call to let me know she was running late. It wasn't until she was lost that she called me. I even clarified the address with her the day before. Not sure why she couldn't put the address in her phone. I even explained to her many times that where to park and I would help her bring the stuff in, but she completely ignored all of that, which all added time. She also somehow got lost in the building because she went through the wrong door - this means there's lack of attention to detail. The door she went into had a different address and she had seen the front door because the employee she brought with her went through it. I told her many times that she could park in the back, but she still asked me to come and get her and check (mind you, she was somewhere inside the building at this point...) Then, what frustrated me was that she was pushing the fire trucks on the kids to paint, and wouldn't let them really choose, even though she brought options. When I checked, the fire trucks were the cheapest items she had brought... it just seemed unfair. So, my experiences going to Paint N' Party have been great and I'll definitely be taking my students back there - but I wouldn't call Paint N' Party back to my school. I also enjoy working with the employees more than I enjoyed working with the owner, she just seemed all over the place. read more

I took my kid here 4 years ago. Judging by other reviews, not much has changed. The staff was rude to us, too. We were made to feel unwelcome there with our son, and the owner lady sat there hawk-eyed, lest we completely obliterate her precious inventory with our child's mere presence. Of all the places we went in the Chicagoland area, I cannot think of a single one that would be so NOT friendly to children. ...which would be fine, except look at their sign!!! "Paint-N-Party" written in jolly rainbow colors clearly marketing to families with kids to come and enjoy. Enjoy we did a little. We manage to paint a plate together and it came out ok, so the evening wasn't a total waste. Which is why the review has 2 stars here. read more

I am a new mom that was trying to stamp my son's foot onto pottery and she was full of helpful suggestions (and helped herself!) that my projects came out great! Paint-N-Party is a great place to visit no matter how old you are! They have a great selection of items and now offer firing which is great, especially if you want to make a personalized gift. The last time I visited PNP, I brought my friends along and we all made mugs that turned out fantastic. I've been to other studios, but their high studio fees have turned me away. Paint-N-Party is definitely the place to go to if you're looking to relax or create a nice gift for someone. read more

I'm basing this review solely on a party environment. As such...it was pretty horrible. The tone was set almost immediately for our 3 year old's family birthday party. I was setting up for the event and putting out themed table cloths and sprucing up the area, ect. I pulled out a bag of pretzels and all hell broke loose. The older woman (owner?) turned around and not very nicely stated that there wasn't food allowed in the painting area. My cousin shot me a puzzled look as she witnessed one of our in store conversations. This was never once mentioned then or in the 6-8 other times I had spoken to her. A little taken back at both the information and her tone, I calmly told her that we intended the snacks to stay in the rear so that the adults. She just shook her head and said, "Fine." Again, in a not very agreeable manner. Okay! I proceeded to pull out another bag of snacks because well...it's a party...and I think I'm allowed to have a party and serve my guests snacks as this is not occupied Germany. Even after that little exchange. Okay does mean okay right? Evidentially, I was wrong. As she was walking away from our area her head snapped back and (not even remotely exaggerating here) YELLED, "Okay! That's ENOUGH with the food!!!" She proceeded, "I'm not going to have this and have to clean all this up." o_0 Ma'am this is a party. As someone who plans events for a living I've NEVER had anyone dictate at a venue like this. I was livid. I even contemplated telling the children to go hang out in the play area just outside the store, in place of having the party there...but of course didn't want to ruin my daughter's birthday and took a few deep breaths. I reminded her that this policy was never noted in any form and never even mentioned prior to just one moment ago. I firmly stated that the food would stay on the back wall, away from the painting area for the adult guests. I may or may not have shot her a stink eye at this point as it felt a little bit like a standoff. If this is your policy then state it!!! I gave her ample number of calls and had conversations where this could have been brought up. Politely. Not yelling at me like I was a little child being scolded in front of guests. Her laziness, rudeness, and lack of professionalism is appalling. The guests started arriving and I tried my best to put on a smile, focus on the event, and avoid "Das Fuhrer." Luckily she did the same. We had another attendant for the party, a young girl who was nice. She wasn't with us 100% of the time, which isn't a bad thing to me. It was silent as we were painting. Perhaps I was still thinking about the situation and how I would have loved to pummel her...but I then realized that there was no music. I asked the attendant if they could put some on as I know they've had it on when I visited the store in the past. She must have put something on but it wasn't even detectable to the human ear. It had the ambiance of the DMV with the excitement of a library. We made the best of it. I had a few guests comment on the fact that "that one's ice cold. What's with her?" not having witnessed or heard our showdown. At one point my brother-in-law wanted to take a picture of both of our sons together. There were no walls, it's just an open area, and they were setting up a shot and a countdown proceeded and "someone" rushes and walks right in front of the shot exclaiming, "Hold it. I don't want to be in the shot." Is it me? If this were my client I'd stop and allow the picture to be taken and then proceed. If this were ANYONE I would do that. She wasn't carrying a piano or rushing to dress some wound. She's just not polished...or polite. In the end we cleaned up everything as we normally do...We're fans of the whole, "leave it better than you found it" philosophy. Even though she was unprofessional and outright rude to me AND my guests we left the area spotless. As my cousin stated, the only thing more we could have done was thrown the trash out for her. It was pristine...Part of me wanted to leave it for Her Laziness but hey. In the end we had a few cancellations due to a traffic accident and I was fully expecting to pay for the count that we gave which was originally 9. That's fair. In the beginning they mentioned that if someone doesn't finish they can leave their piece and come back to paint another day. I would have done this with the extras for the no shows. They WERE nice enough to charge for only the number of painters on hand and not the original count. That was nice and I did thank our attendant for that. If you're looking to have a party where you only serve pizza and cake off of some imaginary approved food list , and don't mind rudeness, immaturity, and staff at your venue verbal accosting you in front of guests you'll be in love with Paint-N-Party in Niles. If you prefer to deal with mentally stable individuals that know the meaning of customer service and rapport you may just want to skip it... read more

Altogether Awesome place to go. My mom and I go there twice a week to paint and always are extremely happy. Great prices, Super friendly staff and always very helpful. Love the fact that they have books you can look through for ideas and references if you're painting something specific. Would recommend to everyone. This is a great destination for a rainy afternoon - the selection of pieces to paint is the best part! I have done painting and glazing there, and found good assistance with the glazing (which was new for me). It is like a studio, rather than a store - you can have all the time you want.
