In particular, Mr. Lee always provided excellent suggestions on matting and framing, often different from anything that we might have first considered. Recently, I had a lithograph that loosened in its frame and took it back to the store for adjustment. Even after nearly 30 years, Mr. Lee was kind enough to fix the problem, doing more than the minimum necessary to make the lithograph show beautifully again. I would return to Alexandria Picture Framing without hesitation for anything that I need framed, and highly recommend the business to others.

We were rudely informed by the owner that all design services end sharply at three o'clock (we had arrived shortly after 3). There was no such warning on the website. He also chastised us for presuming to keep him from leaving the store at precisely four o'clock. We were so taken aback we didn't know what to do. It was an extremely awkward experience. We promptly found another frame shop in the area and started packing up to leave. There are MANY competitors, and who wants drama when they're just trying to get some framing done? Perhaps realizing his mistake, he came out and made a production about now agreeing to stay past four o'clock. I'm not in the business of trying to plead with a business owner to take my money. We made an excuse of not wanting framing that was so costly (we did) and promptly left. Hopefully, they have good quality work. I just couldn't speak to it as the place just didn't want our business.

Sometimes I come in with a pretty clear vision for how I want something framed, and other times I'm not sure at all. In both cases they've been great about walking through options and helping me land on something that looks really polished. Framing can sometimes feel a little intimidating if you're not used to it, but this store makes the process very easy and approachable. Turnaround times have also been faster than I expected on the pieces I've brought in. At this point it's become my go-to spot whenever I have something I want framed.

I needed to have nine very old post cards framed in a nice manner for presentation as a house warming gift for my sister. The owner worked with me to develop how the cards would be laid out, what background, choosing the best matting and frame. Although it was just a few days before Christmas, he finished the project in less than two days, so I will be able to present it to my sister on Christmas Day. I went to this store and received excellent customer service. I brought in a frame that I bought at Michaels and asked the owner to put in an acid free matte and backing. He worked on both of the frames I brought in and had them done the next day as promised. He accidentally broke the glass on one frame and replaced it at no charge. I insisted on splitting the cost of the glass but he would not take any money for it. I found him to be friendly and honest. The job he did was excellent and the frame looks great in our house. So happy with Art Deco Custom Framing! David was so nice and professional. He re-matted and reframed a piece that I brought over from England that was an uncommon size here in the US. Not only did he do this without an appointment (I should have checked the website and called in advanced), but he finished the job several days earlier than I anticipated! I gave him a print-out of the angular panes I needed in glass (see photo). I'm not sure how much clearer I could have been, but you be the judge. I walked him through it in detail, explaining each number and what they meant. I assumed he could either do it, or send it to someone who could. They came back as rectangles (see photo). He offered me no refund for his error, not even the spread between what I paid and his cost. He could've easily taken back the two 45" x 32" glass panes, which could've been used for other clients without issue. Instead, he cheated a long time customer out of $1750 without so much as an expression of regret.
