We had my daughter's 4th birthday here months ago and parents and kids are still raving about it! This place is a magical haven! Gisella and team were fantastic to work with, both is the planning process and during the party and they went out of their way to customize their activities to my daughter's likings (she wanted rainbows). We had about 30 kids plus 1 parent each and the place didn't feel crowded. We also had kids ages 1-7 and there was something that catered to all ages. The party went seamlessly. Gisella and team had everything we may have needed or forgotten (e.g, baskets to hold utensils, paper towels, cool table cloth for the cake table, etc.). The owner Giselle (sp?) is an absolute dream hostess. Great space, wonderful attitude, true caring and love for art. Hermosa Beach might be cozier in some ways but this place beats the pants off Hermosa for the treehouse set up AND the water room. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself. I'd definitely consider trying camp and Parents Night out here as options. The painting is terrific and for folks daunted by the preschool search and waitlist list rigomore this might be the best option in town! PS. I am so grateful to have found ArtZone West LA! It's a hidden gem on the Westside near the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Barrington that has art camps/classes for kids as young as 4 which is hard to find in LA. My 4-year old daughter really enjoys her time there and always has a blast playing in their space and creating all these art sculptures/paintings/etc. The owner, Gisella, and her staff are great and make it fun for the kids. I also appreciate their flexibility - they will work with you to watch your kids on days when there is no school as long as you pool together a group of at least 3 kids. Attention all toddler mamas! If your little one likes: - paint - crafts - slime - water - messes ... or they're just an all-around monster, they'll pretty much go bananas here. We hosted a little birthday party for our 3-year old tornado and it was super easy, fun and affordable. And the best part? I didn't have to clean a darn thing (other than my child who was covered in paint and shaving cream). Yes, shaving cream... they went APE SH-T over it. They offer private art parties in 2-hour blocks, so we reserved the art studio from 10-12pm. You can bring in food/snacks/cake and they'll provide water pitcher and cups... they even cut and served the cake we brought! We brought bagels and donuts and were able to set everything up 15 mins before our guests arrived. The staff was so sweet and helpful- Laura, the owner, was present for our little party along with another gal, and they did a fantastic job. I love how laid back and flexible they were from the beginning- we chose 2 planned crafts for the kids (which they take home as a souvenir) plus there's unlimited painting. There's also a couple of other areas to keep the kids busy: - Play area + tree house/fort thing for climbing and slightly worn toys (though the kids don't care) - Water room with a fountain-like table and bowls/toys for pouring and play - Paint squirting room Definitely recommend hosting a birthday party here and letting your kids play, paint and splash their messy little hearts out! read more

Gisela and all the wonderful ladies who worked there not only assisted with set up but were so courteous and helpful throughout the birthday party so much so that I felt relaxed and knew everything was going smoothly and everyone was enjoying themselves!! Paint, easel, art projects, and more. The staff is friendly and nice, not over burdensome with rules and gives the right amount of space so you can create artwork together with your child freely. I love this place SO much. Both my kids attend their preschool once a week. They have never ending projects, a really cute play area and a water room as well as other cool stuff to do. The teachers have a very calm way of interacting with the kids and I've taken away some pointers! Also, the kids definitely get messy but the paint always comes out in the wash. Both my kids beg to go almost daily and I have to peel them away when it's time to leave at the end of class. I can't say enough great things about teachers Laura and Sandra and Art Zone. This place is incredible. We just attended a 3 yrs old birthday! It's magical. Set up for toddlers and up. Has multiple experiences for the kids. We all had a blast. From painting on stuffed animals, climbing, hand prints, butterfly clay making, water tables and more the party kept us all interacting with the different mediums. Kids seemed to have a pretty fun time here for a birthday party that we went to. It can be a little bit hectic as some of the kids are doing art projects while others were running around their tree house area. Overall a little bit tight of a space, but bottom line, kids have fun. She absolutely loves anything with glitter so I signed her up for glitter week and they did all sorts of great projects throughout the week. We have done preschool and camp here for our 3.5 and 4.5 year olds. The staff is super sweet and caring and our boys love it. The location and the parking leave a bit to be desired- but once you get over that it's a great place. They have "drop-in" preschool on weekdays- not a frequently available option so I would add extra stars if I could! Was essential when we moved here in the spring of a school year! read more

My boys (7 and 4) love going to the Art Zone. They've been going for years. Started going for some friends' birthday parties and they continue going for day camp over the holidays or whenever their school is closed. The parties were always well run. The kids are fully engaged. They bounce from station to station doing various projects. The day camp is awesome too. Lots for the kids to do. The owner, Grisella, is truly wonderful. We've gone to all sorts of kid centric venues and we have never met someone who cares as much about the kids and their experiences than Grisella does about the kids at Art Zone. I absolutely love this place and my kids love it even more. We had our daughter's 5th birthday party and I never want to have another kid's party anywhere else again. Gisella (the owner) is the best and so sweet and fun and made sure that every kid was catered for. Even the kids who weren't as interested in doing art had the best time in the water room and the play structure. Because of my extremely positive experience with the birthday party I signed my daughter up for a week of summer camp there and she came home so excited and happy every day with lots of fun art to show for her amazing time there. We just had my daughter's 5th birthday party at the Art Zone. Worried about having our usual outdoor birthday party in an el nino winter (it did in fact storm the day of her party), I did a lot of research on all of the indoor birthday party venues on the Westside. The Art Zone is definitely the most reasonably priced compared to the other options, but the reality is, it is also the most fun. Everyone-- kids and parents, had an amazing time. I've had a couple of other parents come up to me and say "it was the best birthday party ever". We had three craft projects, unlimited easel painting, water play, and tons of running and climbing and imaginative play. The art projects are open ended and the materials are ample. We had kids from the age of 2-6, and everyone worked at their own level. The party included two lovely studio assistants who did all of the prep work and clean up and I was able to socialize at my own party. Laura and her staff are organized and thorough and really made every aspect of the event from planning through clean up as easy as it could have possibly been. I love art zone in hermosa. My review is about the customer service at Pico. My friend and I called multiple times, no answer. The website says it's ok to text. I text 3 days in advance about coming on a Thursday to make sure they are open. The response is not sure, text back on Wednesday. I text, no response. The website says they have an open studio at 1:30, so my friend and I decide to just go. On Thursday as I leave the house and am on my way I get a text back saying they're full. Full, indies that mean I could have booked 2 spots for my friend and I?! Turns out we needed an appointment because of winter break. The frustrating part is that they could have told us that when I first texted. It wasn't clear on their site. Very frustrating. Then I ask if there's anywhere nearby they can recommend because I'm already on my way with a 3 year old and their response is the mall really?! So I'm annoyed because the communication was so poor on their end over something that could have been very simple to communicate. read more

I would really give 4 1/2 stars if I could. The pros way outweigh the cons for this place! Very magical place founded on principles of art as therapeutic for children and as a form of individual expression, and staff trained in NVC so interactions with children are gentle and lovely. We have had many wonderful hours here during the art free play. The supplies are the highest quality, the water room is so fun for children, nobody acts annoyed if there's loudness or a mess but my children are generally be respectful with meatballs belongings that is a two-way street. There are no yucky crafts only materials placed out so the child can do what they imagine. Climbing area is a good mix of daring and challenging and also safe. There's a lovely Café across the street where you can run and pick up food for lunch. Only deduction is because when we tried the preschool program, I witnessed my and a few others children get shoved and violently treated by one of the oldest boys, repeatedly, and staff would not set Limits on him and adequately protect the other children. I understand that the bully is a victim too and is hurting, but the first step is to protect the safety of children and this child was a loose cannon and needed to be followed - had some anger and impulsivity issues. I watched, stepped in and suddenly redirected and help I are not protect some other children, told the staff, they would come after something happened and someone's crying. There was not adequate supervision for this child and I finally decided not to leave my children there without me, I was worried about the other kids. read more

So disappointed! I have a 15 month old and have been trying to go to Art Zone since I read about it. Over the holidays we were so excited as I wasn't working and could take my daughter only to find out it was camps only and there were no time slots where I could drop in w my daughter from post Xmas until the end of first week of January. I called again today as read about their studio together time 3-5 pm which would be great for working moms who could swing it on a Friday but alas no luck. They have extended care then. I asked about next Monday as it's MLK but it's camp again. I've always left messages for owner asking if a timeslot could be made available for those of us who cannot do 10-3 pm but no response to date. It's sad that they would exclude an age group completely to cater to only 3 and up as early development is key for younger kids as well. We came here for the first time for a birthday party for my daughters friend. My daughter had the time of her life so we went back to have her 3rd birthday party here last week. My daughter is obsessed with the water room! My daughter and all of her friends had a blast and Laura (the owner) and staff were fantastic. They set up activities and all the kids got to take art home with them. Perfect place to take your kids to play, get messy, explore with art, and then leave the mess there.
