We were walking by and my wife noticed this quaint little shop. We went in and the owner Debra greeted us and was so friendly and helpful. This store really has great vintage items you would have a hard times finding anywhere. We purchased a beautiful red vase that went so well with it home decor and at a very fair price. We were window shopping in Troy on a sunny Sunday and since most the shops were closed we went in every store that was open. Artcentric is fun to browse; it's chock-full of vintage furniture, decor and accessories that have been bought at estate sales, etc and lovingly restored by Debra, the store's enthusiastic owner. I never expect to find anything in these sorts of businesses, since vintage isn't my style. However, in a few months my boyfriend and I are moving into an apartment and we've been on the hunt for beautiful, practical furniture. As it happened, she'd recently purchased a solid mahogany dining table big enough for six, with additional leaves, and had priced it for a STEAL. We were very interested in the piece, and Debra was incredibly forthcoming about its condition and her passion for her work. She explained that she loves finding the next gem so prices her stock to move. She answered all our questions, then gave us time to ponder. In the end, we decided to purchase the table, and she happily offered to hold it for us until we were able to transport it home. I would highly recommend Artcentric. read more

Awful business practices run by an incompetent and deceitful owner. Do not trust their word, and if doing business with them, call every single day to confirm the transaction until it is complete. For complete description, read below..... A friend and I purchased a desk listed at $150 from Artcentric. After quick and unforseen changes for us both, we were unable to keep the desk and called to ask if they would purchase the desk back, even if at a slight discount. Speaking to Debra on the phone, she understood and offered $75 (more than a slight discount) to buy the piece back from us. We set up a delivery date and it was set. Three days later (The confirmed delivery date mandated by Debra herself) I called to notify her that I was coming, when Debra told me that she wasn't going to buy it back anymore because she "didn't have room". I offered to lower the price slightly, but she said it was more about space than money. When I asked why I was the one being bumped from her purchase list despite being the first to confirm, she was unable to provide an answer. She then said she would buy it back, but only for the price of $25 (1/6th of her own original valuation of the piece and less than half of the agreed upon price from not even a week before). At this point I knew the run-around was on. I again asked why I was the one being bumped despite our agreement and confirmation, when she stopped responding entirely. Not only is she untrustworthy, but she drastically overprices her own goods, as proven by the fact that she believed a piece she listed at $150 was only worth $25-75. Unprofessional and dishonest are not the qualities that we, in the vintage market, seek in a business partner or dealer. read more
