Over the past 3-5 years I have struggled greatly with spinal pain and increasing severity of autoimmune symptoms that no other doctor was able to diagnose or correctly treat. I am an Olympic swimmer and a documentary creator, so to suffer my body's degeneration so severely was more than just a nuisance, it felt like a loss of my entire identity. My right eye was going blind due to inflammation, my spine was attempting to fuse together, I had abdominal pain that kept me up all night and mental fog all day that prevented me from working for weeks at a time. Every day I was taking a massive cocktail of medications for asthma, inflammation and allergies that seemed to be doing absolutely nothing for me. All of this impacted my life perspective and outlook to the point where I didn't desire to live if this is how life was going to be. I had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Mitchell's podcasts and learn about his methodology - it was something that appealed to me so I made an appointment with him. More than any other physician I've had, Dr. Mitchell is keen on using diagnostics to inform treatment. A full analysis of blood, stool, urine, mental health and lifestyle choices was done within the first month - the results were then carefully explained and Dr. Mitchell put forward a treatment plan in phases focused on resetting my damaged gut as it plays heavily into the severity of my health woes. Dr. Mitchell put me on a natural regimen of healing nutrition, physical activity, enzymes, probiotics, cleansing aids, meditation and homeopathic remedies. It was a lot of effort, but in the end it paid off. After a few months of putting in the work and sticking with the plan, I am now back in the gym training with glimpses of the same spirit I had as an Olympian; back in the office making headway on innovative ideas and connecting with people around me; my relationships with loved ones are getting stronger and more compassionate; I am more aware of my nutritional choices and able to make smarter decisions about how to use food as the best medicine. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mitchell's patience, kindness and deep concern for me as a guide through this journey. We live in a time where the perversion of profit has tainted our inputs measurably (food, social, technological, environmental) and is causing immense imbalances that trigger adverse responses from our bodies. The movement around identifying these toxic inputs to address them is young but growing - for the time being it is fantastically difficult to avoid those toxic inputs entirely, and a guide like Dr. Mitchell can help tremendously in living every day to the fullest in this environment and find ways to be strong, vibrant, compassionate and energetic in all aspects of life.

It is very obvious to me it's just all about the money. They rarely return calls and when they do it's usually days later. I've done medical billing and have worked for several different medical providers for well over 28 years and I have never been treated so horribly as I have been as a patient with this establishment. The fact that I expressed my frustration only brought out the childishness of the workers. Being talked down to by office staff is not something that that anyone should have to deal with. Then when you add insult to injury, the office manager Annie at the Mesa location chose to dismiss me as a patient because I needed to reschedule my appointment this week. I also told her during our conversation how frustrated I am with the people in that office and that I would most likely be looking for a new provider in the future, simply because of the way they handled my medical situation over the last few months and the fact that I have been repeatedly talked down to by one of their employees. (I'm not a child and refused to be spoken to like one) and she obviously didn't like that because she promptly dismissed me as a patient and canceled my appointment to see the doctor that I had scheduled for next week... I've been doing insurance and medical billing for 28+ years and worked in providers offices and this is by far the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Not the doctors, just the office staff. No professionalism or accountability at all. The doctors would be smart to get some professional staff in their handling patients and dealing with issues the right way, otherwise they're just going to continue to lose them. Horrible, completely horrible!

The only way that I could get even a tiny bit of information was to ask questions. Of course, I'm not a physician. I don't work for a place that supposedly takes care of patients with arthritis. It was beyond frustrating and a completely useless visit. If you have arthritis problems, you'd be better going with Dr. Seuss. At least then, you would laugh. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

She didn't hesitate: "Don't bother looking at anyone else in the Valley. Go see Russo." In that heavy accent. I'm glad I listened. As a nurse myself with 26 years of experience, I've seen it all -- the good, the bad, and the downright scary. Dr. Russo is one of the best. His father was a physician, and I can say with confidence his Father should be incredibly proud of the surgeon and human being his son has become. Dr. Russo isn't just a highly skilled surgeon with a stellar track record and excellent credentials. What really stood out to me was his bedside manner. He never once made me feel rushed. He listened. He cared. And you can tell he genuinely loves what he does -- there's no trace of the burnout you sometimes see in seasoned surgeons. On top of it all, he's a family man with kids of his own, so he gets it. He understands how a bum hip doesn't just affect you, it affects your whole family. That empathy came through in every interaction. I had a left hip replacement and walked out the same day with not just a new joint, but a new outlook on life. I'm excited to soon tie my own shoes again, to ride a bike pain-free, to live my life again. If you're considering surgery and you're lucky enough to get in with Dr. Russo -- don't think twice. Thank you Dr Russo!
