I'm…read moreglad I found it because, otherwise, I wouldn't have know this studio existed, with it's unassuming location in downtown Springfield. Aine, the owner and our instructor for this first class, is great. She is super friendly, welcoming, provides great instruction and simple steps to learn. Aine is also amazingly talented, making all the moves look so fluid and easy, which is inspiring to see as I flailed around the pole! I consider myself fit, working out 5-6 days a week, but that doesn't prepare you for pole. It is a whole new test of strength, flexibility and coordination (and I'm pretty lacking in the last two of that list). I look forward to trying more classes soon--Polemic recently adding a twerking class! Ha, can't wait for that!

They offer a variety of classes and a social dance on Fridays to practice what you learn at the classes. I went from not dancing at all to being confident enough to dance anywhere. They've started a revolution of a dance company inspiring Eugene's finest to have a taste of the performing arts. Without a doubt they are the class of the city, with a variety of dances that spanning a multitude of genres ranging from hip hop to swing to jazz. No local area dance troupe compares to Zapp, as they have a unique distinction of being in a class to themselves. Aside from performing locally in Eugene, they're also world famous touring cities across the United States and Europe. I've had the pleasure of attending a few of their shows in Eugene and came away impressed practically every time. The WOW factor is almost immediate and they continue to inspire audiences everywhere. OBA is listed as being on Willamette but has since moved to W11th Ave across from Freddie's. This studio has the feel of a family Mom and Pop studio but it just so happens that Ma and Pa danced professionally for many years. Megan and John bring talent, knowledge, and a wealth of experience to OBA along with warmth. Serious dance. Serious fun. The students are taught technically correct ballet but the environment remains welcoming. There are expectations but they're realistic. Dress appropriately. Be on time. Respect your classmates. Try your best. OBA's fall performance is always held Thanksgiving weekend at LCC. The first one I went to I was blown away. For a period of time I was so engrossed I actually forgot I was watching children! Such a professional and polished performance. Yet youthful and light. If your child is interested in trying ballet I recommend OBA 100%. They offer a free trial class and if you have a son interested in ballet their boys program is free!
