After 38 years of marriage I finally decided it was about time I learned to dance. My wife has always enjoyed dancing but I managed to resist most of the time primarily because I felt awkward and self conscious because I didn't know how to dance. After many nudges and tugs on my arm over the years I decided to surprise her by looking into taking lessons for both of us. I did some research and decided to call the Arthur Murray in Sterling Heights and spoke with Danyelle who answered my questions and offered that a free sample lesson was available which we setup. Finally on the way to the studio I had to tell my wife where we were going. To say she was a bit surprised is an understatement. The lesson went well I thought since I didn't step on my wife's toes, well at least not that time, I didn't trip over my own feet and no one stopped to laugh at me. We decided to sign-up for a few lessons to see how it goes figuring that 6-10 lessons would be the end of that and no more elbows(gently) in the ribs dancing happily ever after. Well that was 2 years ago and we are still there having a great time. The atmosphere at the studio is very friendly, the instructors patient and encouraging. There are many available group lessons in addition to our private lessons. We have had a lot of fun, managed to learn to dance, taken part in fundraisers/community activities and met some great people that we now consider friends (students as well as instructors). Our only regret is that we didn't do this sooner. read more

I telephoned the Arthur Murray Sterling Heights Studio to make a simple inquiry - can you teach me to Argentine Tango? The young man I spoke with assured me with great confidence and invited me in for a FREE sample lesson. The welcome I received that day was overwhelmingly friendly, and before the lesson began, I was offered his arm and escorted to their beautiful dance floor. I must say it was love at first sight with the total experience. I have been a part of this "Arthur Murray Family" for five years now. The appeal here is not only teaching you how to dance, but how to perform - yes, perform in front of your peers at various dance parties and competitions. Fellow dancers at Arthur Murray Sterling Heights are a most unique group. We all understand each other's passion for dancing, and the support system shared with each other is wonderful! This is a great place to learn ballroom dance including everything from Tango to Hustle to Mambo. The instructors are enthusiastic, friendly, patient, and adjust to any learning style. I went in for a few lessons - just to learn the "box step." A year later, I'm still here having a blast. They start with the basics on a variety of different types of dances and then build from there. The lesson plan includes group practice parties where I've met new friends, practiced in a safe and encouraging environment, and just had so much fun. Plus, you don't need a partner. All the students and teachers dance with each other. Tip - Ask for Jason. He is a great teacher (and a wonderful dancer). read more

What can I say...the 8 lesson introductory package is but a blur.....we have been dancing at this studio for 4.5 years and are truly enjoying every lesson. We have learned and continue to learn each and every time we come to the studio. The coaches that visit the studio are amazing and enhance that which is being taught by professional, courteous instructors. The friendships we have made with other students have enriched the experience. I would certainly recommend this studio as a place to learn ballroom dancing.....you'll find me there most of the week....it's not only fun, but also great exercise and a wonderful form of stress relief! I found my review and everyone else that has had a great time at this studio has been filtered out and you only see this negative review for which I don't understand. I have been coming to this studio with my daughter as well as my son for several weeks now and every time it has been a great experience. Everyone is so friendly and nice from Diane at the front desk to all the teachers Jami, Jeff, Amanda, Andrea and the others. They make us feel like family and we look forward to going every week. We started taking lessons in early September purchased through a groupon. After the groupon expired, we decided to continue with lessons and have been very satisfied. The staff has been professional, warm and easy to work with. The other students have been warm, inviting and welcoming. In addition to lessons the studio has lots of additional fun events that provide practice opportunities, further enrichment and opportunities to interact and meet the other students. My husband surprised me with dance lessons as a "date night" activity a couple of years ago.and we have been students ever since. The instructors have tailored our lessons to us while still teaching the different dances and steps. There are group sessions and a practice session every week which allows you to learn and practice.. We have met wonderful people and always have a great time at the studio. The enviornment is comfortable, easy and friendly. I would highly recommend them to singles and couples alike. read more

My husband and I were looking for dance instruction for an upcoming wedding and couldn't be happier with the instructors and atmosphere. We will continue even after the wedding, as we have already made new friends that we look forward to dancing with regularly! While this does say Sterling Heights, this is now located in Shelby Township and (as far as I am aware) under new leadership. My husband and I have been taking lessons for just over a year. By the way it was my idea to do this. It is amazing how much we have learned about dance and music. We are having fun, getting exercise, meeting people and learning how to dance. What is not to like about that. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dance lessons from the staff at this studio have been a great experience. I'll admit that I was "pushed" into it by my daughters...they said I needed a break from the stress of home care for my wife. I walked into the school not knowing how to dance, and even after a few weeks you feel very comfortable and it is incredible how much you can pick from these instructors. I enjoy the class so much you don't want to leave. It is a great environment, and you feel like family. I would recommend this school to anyone, its an amazing place to learn how to dance. read more

What a great gathering place! It's not a coincidence that everyone there loves to dance. There are all sorts of opportunities to meet new friends; get some excercise and learn something new.
