We spoke to the baker and he told us it was all part of the same business, the bakers and the cheese shop and the bakery had outgrown the building and was soon to be moving a mile or two up the road. Anyhow, we walked through the front door and were amazed at the wonderful display of freshly baked breads available to buy. From super open textured, crunchy baguettes to heavy sourdough and super soft farmhouse loaves, stilton and walnut bread, oily foccaccia and on and on. There was also a small selection of sweets such as really nutty brownies, pain au chocolat and danish. Everything looked so good, it took us forever to narrow down our choices. We ended up buying four loaves of bread and two cakes. All were beautiful and very tasty which is a big lack in most of today's crappy supermarket breads which people have become accustomed. My favourite was the baguette, it really was out of this world. The breads were a little pricey but WELL worth it. And the place is definetly worth a visit!

Most of the (very tasty) loaves are bought in from the nearby Lunesdale Bakery - although Ellie's do make their own cakes and scones. There is a small attractive tearoom inside the shop with a lovely view of the nearby fells and it always seems quite full. Lunchtimes are busy and there is often a queue for pasties and sandwiches. Bread sells out very quickly here so don't leave it too late if you're holidaying in Sedbergh and plan to buy a loaf! Upstairs, Ellies has a room for local alternative therapists, so you can always ease the stress if you do run out of bread.

Wonderful little bakery in the heart of Corbridge. The chicken pasty in particular is excellent, lovely chunky pieces of chicken in a light sauce in a light and golden puff pastry. They also have sandwiches, milk, pop, an extensive selection of jams and chutneys and various deli items too. It's a 'must visit' if you're visiting Corbridge, if only to get some of those wonderful scones! :-)

We hid from the rain this little cafe and ordered some excellent fry ups. Two of us had the standard English breakfast while Dan went for the large version which contained a serious amount of meat. I really enjoyed mine. The line up was scrambled egg (you get to choose you egg type), sausage, bacon, black pud, beans, tomato, mushrooms, hash brown and toast. My toast could have been more toasted (it was still pretty much bread) but everyone else's looked good so I think it was a blip. I had a latte too which was good. It's waitress service to order but they were not in any rush to come over so if you are hungry I'd suggest heading up to the counter.

They pointed us to this lovely establishment :) The scones are to die for, made according to an old family recipe an they are truest delicious, I'm normally not a scone person but took a large box!!! :)
