While I was there we saw icebergs in the Harbour right from the dinning room of the restaurant in the hotel. On the outside it looks like an old fishing merchant house, but on the inside it is all new finish, very clean, and with exceptionally friendly staff! The bedding was good quality, beds comfortable, and quaint setting. It was nice to have a breakfast box delivered each morning: coffee, muffins (even GF option), yogurt, hard-boiled eggs. Easy walking distance to a handful of restaurants. The only slight negatives were that sitting area furniture wasn't the most comfy and the sound travels easily between floors (to be expected considering the property). Overall a great place to stay while taking in the beautiful surroundings and puffins!

Really charming and cozy, clean and beautiful decoration. Breakfast is brought to your suite in the morning in a wood crate , so lovely. The cottage is located perfectly so you can walk into town and sample the delights of Bonavista. The staff were super friendly and helpful with arrangements and suggestions. I wanted to post two reviews but that seems not possible as we stayed in another suite for an additional night. We stayed in the loft which is all of the above but more spacious. We tried to stay an additional night here but it was all booked up .... I guess because its so lovely !!!

Up the hill and across Water Street is the Crow's Nest, and down the hill is the waterfront/harbour. Fantastic location You'd be impressed as soon as you walk in, the view of the harbour entrance is great. There is a self-serve coffee/tea/water station, an optional cash shop for their Alt Hotel brand of shampoo/gel/lotion, a complimentary office workstation with printer, plus an assortment of sofas, lounge chairs and bar chairs. The main floor also has a suite of reconfigurable conference rooms and smaller meeting rooms The rooms are amazing! All the apparatus in the rooms are touchscreen activated. Don't be alarmed that the curtains seem worryingly see-through, just go to the touchscreen controls and lower the blinds. Stand-alone shower, nil bathtubs. There's an ironing board and iron. You get a Keurig with 4x kcups (1x tea, 1x decaf, 2x regular coffee) The double-sized bed is comfy with four enormous pillows. There's an ice machine on the third floor only The continental breakfast is a cold breakfast.... when I was there 17-21 Jul 18, they had an assortment of pastries, apples, bananas, cheerios and raisin brans, plus the usual coffee/decaf/tea/milk/orange juice. If you want anything hot (even if it's just toast), you'll want to head out for a hot breakfast Last but not least, the hotel staff are awesome. Would definitely choose to stay here again!

There are so many places to eat, drink and shop right close by. Beautiful shops with with by Newfoundland atist and crafts folk. Plenty of opportunity to pickup up gifts and keepsakes. We stayed two night room #422 - looking along harbor into town and #424 - looking out to sea across the harbor. With only 20 minutes left to spare before it closed, we rushed in hoping they were still serving. Turns out they were, and not only that, they did it with a smile reassuring us it wasn't an issue. We ordered the turkey soup and pan fried cod with chips and the fixings. The soup was absolutely delicious with bite sized pieces of carrots, chunks of turkey and seasoned just right without being too salty or bland. The fresh pieces of cod were cooked beautifully, retaining all of its juices and also seasoned perfectly. Besides the great food, we were so happy with the friendly service. It made our meal even better and definitely some place we would return to on another day or night. Homestyle cooking and hospitality at its greatest. Definitely recommend!

Place looked fairly new or remodeled. Bathrooms had better toiletries than most hotels! shampoo, soap, shaving cream, feminine products, hair dryer. This is a Hosteling International (HI) hostel so if you have a HI card, you get a discount. Wish we could've stayed longer.
