What gives you a hint that this isn't your typical NL restaurant though, is having a look at the menu... very quickly, you should realize that this is no ordinary place - moose bahn mi, lobster mac 'n cheese, schnitzel sandwich, vegetarian streudel. And those are just the items we tried, the menu has something for every foodie wandering the Trinity/Bonavista corridor. Flavours were full, bright, complex. Service was friendly and timely. I'm going to recommend you bring a fan if that is something you like at home but you will get terrific airflow through the cabins, bring a cutting board if you plan on cooking much. There is one in the cabin but it is small. If you have a small folding table or something like that. Bring it. There isn't a ton of storage space for booze, dry goods, stuff you bring. Especially if you aren't super tall and can't reach the top of the cupboards. The rooms also don't have anything besides a small closet for storage. Live out of your bag. It's a vacation. Bring your own paper towels too. Now. Onto the good stuff. The cabins are comfortable with plenty of seating inside and out, the fridge, while small, works great, the stove. Also small. Works terrific and you will have no problems making a good breakfast on it. The cabins when we arrived (we had 3) were SPOTLESS. Everything was clean and fresh and ready. The BBQ, while definitely well used, was clean and had everything you need. Plenty of cup towels, cloths, plates forks etc. all there for you. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we all slept great. Well except for whoever drew the short straw and got the pullout couch. But if you somewhere expecting a comfortable pull out bed you are a bigger optimist than I am. Bring an air mattress or stick the younger kids on there. The road noise is minimal. Or at least was for us and there is good separation from the road. The views out over the water are incredible. Wide open grassy areas where your kids can play safely in east view and no danger of cars because they all drive behind and park between the cabins. It's a brilliant layout really. The little shop on site has loads of flavours of ice cream as well as beer, ice, and French fries/poutine. Also an ATM (cash only for anything besides beer/cabin payments) perfect spot to take a walk with family to get a treat in the afternoon. The heated covered pool is clean and well maintained. Shallow end is great for the younger kids and even the deep end is under 6' so no diving but still room to play. We didn't do the minigolf but it's cheap for 9 holes and looked fine. Definitely recommend renting a fire pit for a night if you go. The drop it off in the evening and pick it up the next day and you can even order wood with it. Terrific value for the money. Nearby there is a liquor express, pharmacy, gas station, and a small supermarket so you really don't need to overpack your stuff that you bring. You could go and spend your entire trip within a 20 mins circle and have everything you needed. Multiple beaches, a sweet little petting zoo and pony riding place, a couple of restaurants even. Wifi was good enough, and we had great cell phone signal. Also the cabins have a TV and pretty good cable if that is something you can't live without. I personally would have traded it for more space on the top of the fridge lol There are various squirrels,birds, and even some bunnies around so sitting outside quietly has benefits. You might have a neighbour in the cabin connected to yours. But we didn't notice any sounds coming through the walls. Even from my sisters 4 year old who definitely has the ability to make noise down to a science. We are already planning another trip next summer. Consider this my highest recommendation

It's a star!!! Wonderful hospitality, great location for exploring, and a very nice breakfast. We had traditional breakfast: eggs, sausage, potatoes, beans, and coffee and juice. the highlight was the toutons, pan fried dough with molasses. You have to try them!!! Our room overlooked the harbor. The Inn is. beautifully restored, with modern bathroom, great wifi, great bed. A real find. You can see the investments by the community in restoring the story of the town and its people.

In hindsight, Gayle and I are so glad we did. The whole experience reminded me a bit of Mendocino (California), but with more charm and less people. The whole Village of Trinity, Artisan Inn, and adjacent Twine Loft restaurant vibe all came together for really wonderful weekend. The folks who run this place gave us a chock full binder of things to do, of which we only were able to scratch. Key fun that we enjoyed included exploring a few outports, seeing a whole colony of Puffins, and seeing a play at the Rising Tide Theater. Our Room was #8 on the upper front (street side) of the historic Barbour House. It consisted of a Queen Bed and a huge ensuite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was strong and hot, WIFI worked well, and it was great to just settle in during this cold and foggy weekend. Our reservation also included a delicious breakfast at the Twine Loft. This was a great way to start the day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Finally, let me share a story about a a very Newfoundland inquiry I made to the owners after our visit: One question - Your materials State that no shell fish is allowed on the property. We didn't, but we're still curious why. Regarding the shellfish, we used to allow it but some people would leave shells all over the floors and get shellfish juice into the wood and fabric. It made the houses stink for the next guests and we had a situation where someone was hospitalized due to an allergic reaction. With one of our ERs constantly shutting down due to being short staffed it is a risk we don't want to take on our guests. While guests in the rooms versus vacation homes typically aren't an issue, sometimes guests find ways of surprising us and sometimes guests rent Barbour House where you stayed as a full house with kitchen downstairs.

The house is charming, has a lot of antique decor went well with the 1800's home. Our room was clean, cozy, bathroom was not ensuite but just across our room also very clean. Great views from the house. I spent time on the deck enjoying the water views. The living common space has a large seating area and offers tea and coffee. Our stay offered continental breakfast with was lovely. With homemade goods and jam. You also have an option to order hot breakfast for extra charge. We had reservations for dinner on one of our nights. It was lovely. I started with happy hour on the deck watched the sunset, yup beautiful. We were lucky to have beautiful fall weather. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and informative. When we arrive they gave us a very detailed orientation of the surrounding areas, activities, restaurants, places that were opened and closed. The room also had a binder full of this info. Our room was small but had everything we needed. Bed was on the soft side. Artisan Inn owns numerous houses in Trinity, I highly recommended them! We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff gave us a beautiful card a picture of the town and signed by all the staff. Overall a great stay!

It is money and time well-spent to get a local perspective on everything from resettlement in the 1960s to joining the confederation to quality of life today. There is an option to hike a two-hour path back to New Bonaventure, but we all chose to stay aboard. The day was quite warm and windy and he warned us that we would get wet. He is a very able skipper though and did his best to shield us. Actually there was a couple sitting forward of me from Paradise NL who shielded me best from the chop coming over the side. But we were dry soon and sharing tea and bisquits in his cabin in a comfy cove. He and his wife Bernice, manager of the Random Passage site that is seen during the tour, own the cabin that is accessible only by water. We saw a bald eagle on her nest and two in flight. One of the most authentic and energizing tours of the area. Just 10-12 people in the open boat. See my photos.

Go on a Rugged Beauty Boat Tour. Period. This is the real…read moredeal. It's not a touristy boat tour full of hype and searching for ice bergs and whales (which you can often see from shore and you might see with this trip, but never guaranteed). Rugged Beauty is much more than that. This is a trip back in time and into the resettled outports around Trinity Bay. Bruce Miller is fantastic and also the real deal. Bruce was born in Kerley's Harbour around cod fishermen (and women) and grew up with a family that was forced to resettle. You'll learn about cod and how it was processed for sale, you'll see photos of what the resettled communities looked like as you gaze at what is left. Bruce knows his family history and his stories of that time are captivating. Bernice is lovely too (if you get the chance to meet her). The trip ashore to Bruce and Bernice's cabin in British Harbour (accessible by boat) is a rare treat. If you haven't got the message yet... Go On This Tour.

Overall, this was a solid bed and breakfast…read more This B&B is located right in the middle of Trinity. There's parking right across the street. Check in is in the gift shop next door. I stayed in a room on the second floor with a queen bed. It was a bit on the smaller end but it has everything you'd need. The bed itself was okay. My only issue with the room was the lack of air conditioning. If you prefer your rooms to be warm then you'll find it comfortable. Even though it was cool outside, the room was good at retaining heat. Needless to say, the ceiling fan and extra desk fan stayed on the entire night. Bathroom was a bit small but water pressure and temperature were good. The wifi was pretty good. It was reliable and while I didn't try using Netflix, it was consistently fast. The breakfast was okay on both days. On the first day we had scrambled eggs with bacon. On the second day we had French toast. There's also oatmeal, cereal and breads available beside the dining room. Coffee or tea and orange juice is also included. Overall it's a decent B&B that's somewhere between 3.5-4 stars.
