This is such a cute place for a date night or family outing. We decided to go here because the traditional gift to give for 9 years anniversary is pottery, and what better place to go than Color Me Mine? (: There are a LOT of ceramics to choose from so you can truly get creative and personal with your selection. There are many options including piggy banks, plates, bowls, dishes, mugs, etc. You have to pay $10 painting fee per painter in addition to the price of your selected ceramic. Our grand total was about $74, which seems pricey, but it was worth it because we had a great time, and we were able to make customized gifts for one another. The girls there were really friendly, and one girl in particular who helped us was SO SWEET! I wish I got her name. She was so accommodating and friendly towards our two little boys. We didn't pay to have the boys paint a ceramic piece because they're too young. However, she gave them some paint and coloring sheets so they wouldn't be bored. That was incredibly helpful because it allowed my husband and I to concentrate a bit better. We stayed there for about 1.5 hours and they kept checking back on us and getting us paint. We asked for a lot of paint, and they never seemed annoyed or rushed us. They also gave a lot of good tips and advice! Thank you, ladies, for a fun night! We got our pottery back recently and love the results.

ART, GOOD VIBEZ, GOOD COMPANY & WINE!…read more A good friend of mine recently celebrated her birthday at this establishment! This was my absolute first time experiencing the Paint and Sip Scene, and I totally enjoyed myself! I'm so glad I was able to join my friend and help her celebrate, because this was truly a rare treat as I have not been out in a good while. The atmosphere was very relaxing as we sipped wine and champagne while painting and enjoying the music that was blaring out of the overhead speakers. We were allowed to bring our own bottles of champagne, wines, and other liquors. The business owners provided two shots of some type of milky looking liquor called Mona Mint, which did not appeal to me, so I turned it down when they offered me one. I overheard some of the other guests from our party complaining among one another, saying that it tasted weird and they did not like it. See, I'm so glad that I followed my first mind, and turned it down, lol. Furthermore, this establishment does not provide or sell any food, but you are allowed to bring your own food inside for parties. My friend informed me that she was required to pay a deposit in order to book her party. However, other requirements were that half of her party were to pre-purchase their tickets by a certain deadline, and if that requirement was not met in a timely manner, then her party would be canceled and she would not be given a refund for her deposit. The tickets were $50 per person. I paid my money in advance like my friend requested her guests to do, but some of them did not do this by the required date. As a result, my friend's party was nearly canceled and I was not going to be refunded my $50 and nor would my friend be refunded her deposit. However, she made some phone calls to her guests to reiterate the importance of them purchasing their ticket because her party was being threatened of cancellation by the business owner due to half of her party not purchasing their tickets by the deadline. To make a long story short, everyone finally purchased their tickets and all was well in Art-Land. The party did not get canceled but it was a close call. So if you plan on celebrating your birthday at this establishment, please be sure that your guests are well aware of the seriousness about paying by the deadline, unless you have money to throw away. Moreover, the space that was provided for the party was enormously spacious! There was plenty of room for dancing, painting, and for setting up the food and bottles of champagne and wines. There were also plenty of photo selfie backgrounds for taking photos with friends and family. Upon arrival our tables were already set up with everyone's canvases, paint brushes, cups of water, napkins, and aprons provided. The young lady that hosted the party was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She instructed us on how to mix our primary colors in order to create any secondary colors if needed, like orange, purple, or green. She also instructed us on what to do if we got any paint on our clothes or hands. Overall, the concept of art and wine, sipping while painting, and female bonding, is a great collaboration of relaxing and enjoying art without the pressures of actually having art lessons. It's a fun, creative, and exciting way for one to explore their artistic side in a relaxed and chilled social environment. I would definitely like to experience this refreshing, peaceful, and informal ambiance once again. I rated them four stars based on the friendliness and professionalism of the staff members. Would have given them five stars, but since it's only my first experience visiting a sip and paint establishment, I am unable to make a comparison to another sip and paint establishment. However, I do recommend this business, but please be careful with making your deposit and asking your guests to pre-purchase their tickets. You will not get any refunds if you do not meet their requirements.

They made sure to turn it down when the instructor was speaking. The instructor was more than happy to help if you did or even if you didn't chose to follow the painting, as I did not. They had shots on the house and $30 hookah that lasted us the whole time there. After class was over, we were told we could stay after and finish our painting had we not finished. The only downside I could find is not being able to pick the class painting. It would be nice if after payment they allowed everyone to pick a painting from a few options and which ever template is choose the most should be used for the class.

But that's not what we got. We enjoyed our time together bc we're happy to see each other, HOWEVER, one thing that we all agreed upon was that we were quite disappointed in the hands-off approach. In previous ones that we have done, there's an instructor at the front, guiding, you step-by-step through the process of painting the selected piece. They typically helped you find the correct blend to make the colors. Guided you through how to correct mistakes... very hands on and active. The reminder email received even says, "You're going to have a blast with our artist-entertainer! No experience is necessary to be expertly guided in creating memories, not masterpieces." And this is NOT what we got at all. Neither expertly guided nor entertained. We got step-by-step written instructions that were vague and everyone abandoned reading them at all. We didn't make a scene but did verbally express our chagrin and confusion that the instructions weren't clear, but it fell upon deaf ears. Our youngest attendee, a 14-year old, even painted the instructions page black to show her frustrations with it. There was "encouragement" - every few minutes our babysitters would walk by and say "that looks great" but when asking for help, one said they could help, but then did nothing, and the other helped after some pleading bc our friend really wasn't happy. Finally, of our girls gave up altogether and didn't finish hers at all saying, "I'm having more fun talking to my friend." I don't know if all places are like this now but if so, we will not do anything like this again. At the end when we were told our paintings turned out so well (minus the abandoned one) we mentioned that in others we've done, there was a lead and more help. The response was that this was a "workshop" and since there were multiple projects going on in the room, it was an independent thing. So be aware. This was something we could've done in our own home for half the price. Update: The owner reached out to me and pointed out that on the purchase page it did mention a printout would be given (see attached photo). However, the personalized event email to me the day prior said "expertly guided." So to me this would be the most updated info to pay attention to. After conferring with the other attendees we felt it fair to update from 2 to 3 stars. I firmly believe that this isn't the norm and should have been more emphasized. Additionally, we didn't feel it deserved 4 stars because as open as we were about making it known that we were not understanding the printout instructions, we still didn't get and "expert guidance". Had we gotten help, the other detail could've been forgiven.

I highly recommend this studio for birthday parties and their camps. They pay close attention to the Cy Fair calendar and have camps set up for every single holiday. Mr. Tom, the owner…read moreand main instructor, is very talented, not just at painting and drawing, but also at passing on tips and techniques to his students. Children and adults, whether they feel like they are artistically talented or not, will come away with quality, unique artwork that they created and a greater understanding of how to continue to draw and paint on their own. I have taken two of my children to The Artist Within over the years, both at the old location and new one for camps and their homeschool art class. My eldest, who has always been able to sit and draw on her own for hours, walked in when she was very young and without even knowing what the business was for said "Oh! I really like it here!" even though she usually did not like any place but home. My younger daughter who is constantly moving and very active loves it too, it helps her focus and learn. Even living an hour away, we came back for a course this last semester. Both girls came away with more confidence, technique, and several fantastic pieces of art. The new location is well suited to creative expression with a beautiful, fairy-land style garden in the back where, during longer classes or camps, the instructor allows the class to stretch their legs and minds on a short break. I highly recommend the Artist Within to anyone who wants more than the quick "paint what we're teaching" style place.
