We met John when we were in the process of moving into our Sedona home, the culmination of years of talks and plans and dreams. We needed extensive painting in a house with a high pitched ceiling that extended through the entire structure. When we recollected that John had mentioned he was a painter of houses and everything else, we asked him if he was interested to please give us some prices. His prices were very competitive, especially considering the superior quality of his work. John's execution was meticulous. When all was done, our home was transformed. His cutting in was sharp and keen. The house was fully furnished and every item, every picture, every magazine was restored to its former place. There was not a splatter or a drop anywhere, no roller mist on surfaces. He left no roller or brush marks that I could detect. The walls' surface texture was even and continuous. The coverage of the deep hues favored by the previous owner was perfect - nowhere was there a hint of the painted-over colors. We give his job on our Sedona home our A+. John is personable and forthright. A straight shooter. A plain speaker. He has a pleasant sense of humor. When he encountered matters requiring judgment, he called or texted with the issues and offered his opinions and recommendations. He brought to our attention things we hadn't thought of. We both felt like we were part of the process, which was gratifying and avoided problems. John did a superior, job was easy to work with, and his prices were a good value. No one better at what he does. And from what I've found in having other trades work on my home, they could learn a lot from how John (Artistic Finishes) conducts business. John has helped with both "routine" internal painting in a very challenging home -- lots of levels and few squared corners -- but also done incredible faux finish work on structural beams and doors. And while his traditional home painting work is excellent, his faux work is just incredible, garnering praise and disbelief from other tradesmen, realtors and interior design professionals. But besides the quality of the finished work, it's the attention to details in the process which is even more impressive. John takes time to properly prep the space, carefully removing and labeling EVERYTHING so that when the painting is done, the room goes back EXACTLY as it was. I've had several other trades in here that don't take such care and, as a result, their end result not only suffered but they actually caused damage. Not John. John was recommended to me to paint a closet I was having remodeled, a pretty mundane project. While working with him I found that he was a true artist with many skills and projects in his resume. I have wanted a mural in my kitchen to replace a window that the previous owner had removed, and John helped find exactly what I was imagining. He made it and installed it, texting me progress along the way. I enjoy it every day now and love it! He is meticulous in his work.
