My stylist does a good job but the customer service needs work on how they communicate…read moreand deal with customers, especially when they messed up my booking in the first place and tried to push it earlier to fix the problem with minimal notice. To top it off they never admitted it was their fault nor apologised for their mistake. It completely ruined my evening to myself as a busy mum who was looking forward to having my hair done, to be told they wouldn't now have time to do everything I had booked THREE months prior!

She lied about her name too so they wouldnt tell me who did it and said I was lying about it because I didnt know who my hairdresser was. She cut my head with her nails when shampoooing, the fire exit was left open next to the basin where most of them were outside smoking with the smoke wafting in my face, then she SHAVED my neck! I am a woman. Fair enough razoring the sides for strays but Im not very hairy at all. I said id rather she stopped and she just carried on saying she knows best. She actually shaved off most of the back. She then used the clippers on one side of my head and took a chunk out. The woman in the chair next to me waited 45 minutes just to be greeted by her hairdresser, because he fell asleep upstairs! I got home to hear a lot of gasps and be handed a mirror. I called the salon straight away and they said I was lying the first time. Then they said I had to go back and get it fixed. I said no way in hell are they touching my hair again!! Then they said they wouldn't give me a refund because they dont have much money!! The absolute cheek of it!!!! I looked so ridiculous I had it blended in as much as possible by a hairdresser near me, but it had been so cocked up that although it was a thousand times better it still looked odd. I bought a wig and have worn it ever since. Its now been over a year and im too traumatised to get my hair cut.

Normally have to book a little in advance or give some notice on the day. Costs as of 2010, are somewhere around £18 and up.. Never disappointed with cuts. There is also an attached massage service available within the salon, but that is a separate business I think. You are also often given a choice of drinks while you wait and have your hair done.

I had long ish hair (several inches past my shoulders which took several years to grow) and I asked for long length layers to be put in. I even took a couple of photos with me to explain. Myself and the hairdresser sat down and we spoke through what I wanted for about five minutes. She appeared to understand completely what I wanted. I then went off to have my hair washed and then came back to the styling chair. The hairdresser (young girl) then began to hack away at my hair. She must have spent no more than 5 minutes cutting it before drying/straightening and then I had the gown taken off me as it was finished. She did not ask if I wanted it straightened, she just did it and told me I was to straight it every morning which is a big problem when I don't own straighteners, and either do I like my hair straight, my hair is naturally wavy which is how I like it. I glanced in the mirror after and I was so shocked and upset at the mess my hair was in. Firstly, it was nothing like the style I had asked for, and secondly, she has hacked off too much of my hair! I quickly paid and escaped out of the shop as I was close to crying. I got home to examine the style... I could not stop crying. The length of the layers I had asked for had only been down at the very bottom/back of my hair. The rest of it was short on top, so short in places that it was sticking up! Also she had ripped a lump one side of the head with a razor, and not only did it hurt for several days later, but it looked really really stange, like a big dent out of the side of my head where it was no longer than an inch, yet the hair around this patch was about three times longer. There was also no consistency with the layers, everywhere I pulled there were long bits and short bits. It wasn't even straight at the back and it was longer on one side than the other. Considering she cut it so fast and did not check the lengths, it was probably no surprise. Also there were many many errors in the cut... at the back she had missed a wedge of about 150 strands of hair that were at least twice as long as the rest. I spend the rest of the weekend crying and trying to tidy it up myself in the mirror. I contacted Alta Moda who basically told me to come back and they would sort it out. I refused stating the only way it could be sorted out is with hair extensions. It has taken several months and several trims later to get my hair to look like a decent style as it was in such a mess. I was extremely cross that my hair was long and there was a great opportunity to be cut into a very nice hairstyle (that I have to add I paid a lot of money for), but I ended up with a style I have had to frustratingly grow out for the next few months. I feel like I was treated with such disrespect from this hairdresser and from Alta Moda in Aylesbury. I had two other hairdressers examine my 'haircut' from this place and both of them said they could not believe what this hairdresser had done, and why she decided to do a completely different hairstyle to the one I wanted, especially when the style she did was so unsuitable for my hair type. So unfortunately, a very bad experience and I shall not be going there again, especially for that money!

So, using the website I booked in for a cut that cost more than that but it was the cheapest option available. I used the website because to call up is an 0844 number. When I got there, I couldn't find the studio so I had to call the number which cost me money to find out where it was. I arrived 2 minutes before my appointment (late for me) only to see that the salon was closed. I waited 5 minutes, then I had to call the costly number again to find out if I had the wrong time. The salon was then opened and not one person smiled at me or invited me in - it was awkward! No one apologised for being late opening while I was getting cold outside. I told them I had a voucher and they said just show your stylist at the end of the cut. I sat down and firstly my stylist told me I should pay an extra £10 for a blow dry because of my hair cut, which I did not want. I told her I didn't want much off because I liked the shape but she kept saying I should take more off the front, I eventually gave in as I didn't want to keep saying no! But now my hair isn't the same nice shape it was before. Then when I was having it washed she was trying to sell me different conditioning treatments. By this point, I felt as though I had been saying no so much that I should say yes to something so she didn't think I was a terrible customer so I bought the cheapest treatment. During my haircut, my stylist was reasonably quiet. When she did ask questions, she didn't appear to listen to my answers, she just said 'oh' then it was silent again. When I went to pay, they told me I couldn't use the voucher because I hadn't had the right appointment for it. I argued at this point and they let me have the money off anyway. Even when handing my money over to them, not one of the three women at the desk smiled at me. I left feeling annoyed that I had spent my money on such poor customer service and when I got home realised I didn't even like the haircut because she had taken more off than I wanted. I was met with a warm greeting, offered a drink and seen by a consultant within 10 minutes. Then on to the hair wash - so relaxing! The chair even gives you a back massage if you want it! The whole appointment took about 30 minutes - great if you want a little pampering before a night out. Today I went for my first hair cut for 18 months and Amelie the stylist got it down perfectly. You're taken through everything and made to feel truly relaxed. Nearly nodded off during the head massage! And booking is easy - either call them or book online. Booking online took a minute or two and I was able to book to go in only half an hour later, so you're not stuck with only being able to select with x amount of notice. I will definitely be back soon!

Amanda listened to my concerns and made sure she checked with me along the way. She was clear on what could be done at this time and recommended a follow up - which I will be pleased to have with her! Besides knowledgeable and professional, she is also a very pleasant individual, I left the salon feeling cared for, it was overall a great experience! The salon has a lovely decor, is very clean, and everyone there today was nice and friendly. Thank you Amanda and team!
