I wanted to warn future brides out there about ArtLynn Photography. They are a studio out of Lansing and Evergreen Par, Illinois. They seemed good in the beginning however after the wedding everything went downhill. First of all we paid for our entire package in full per their contract 2 wks prior to the wedding. It was a $2,100.00 package, however, after we handed over the check we were then told that we also needed to give our photographer an extra $250.00 on the day of the wedding for travel and expenses. This was $250.00 above and beyond our package price they never mentioned this in all the months prior to paying off the package. We said fine and paid it. After the wedding when we went to pick up proofs we were then told we now owed a $80.00 fee because our ceremony started a 1/2 hr late. Even though everyone was at the church except for me and our photographer was working the entire time, doing the BM shots, GM shots, guest shots etc. They just said sorry, but that is our policy, period. We could not have our proofs until we paid it. I was also told that if I wanted to purchase my proofs that it would be $200.00, and they keep them for up to 2 years so I could purchase them anytime within that time frame. When we brought the proofs back, however the price suddenly jumped to $420.00 for the proofs, $420.00 that we had to pay right then and there otherwise the proofs would be destroyed the next day. We were also charged late fees of $125.00 for bring the proof book back late (which admittedly was our fault so we paid). We picked out our ablum prints and when they came in a month ago, they then said we could pick them up and pay off our balance of $250.00. Uhhh? We paid them in full for our extra prints when we brought back the proof book, so I called them to ask what the $250.00 was for, they would not explain it on the phone and were very evasive. They are insisting that we come up to their studio which is an hour away instead. Bottom-line is though unless we pay the $250.00 we are not going to get our album or our prints. Now they are calling to tell me that they are charging $2.00 storage fee per day until we pick up the album. My husband and I live paycheck to paycheck like any young couple and frankly don't have an extra $250.00 lying around, we do want out photos but these were suppose to have be paid up in full 2 wks before the wedding. Suddenly there are all these extra fees, upon fees which has turned our $2,000 package into more of an $3,000 package. Frankly, if I had known this in the beginning I would have gone with the photographer I had really wanted in the first place. In addition to this our photos turned out average, I wanted something a bit artistic but instead got very average with a beginning photographer. The albums and prints we looked at from the studio were the owners work, but was not the work of the photographer we actually ended up with. I feel that it was really a bait and switch and now we are being fee'ed to no end. I was married Sept 29, 2007 and I'm still sitting here almost a year later with no wedding photos. I am a researcher and spent A LOT of time reading reviews, going to bridal shows, comparing packages and prices (I narrowed it down to 4 out of 32), and went to three office visits. Artlynn was our last consult and we signed the contract right there. I met Tony at a bridal show and when I told him about how we were going to have White Castle as a post-ceremony snack (it was an inside joke with my father and I am still mortified I let it happen), he laughed and was really interested. We actually had two photographers, Tony and Voicheck and they were amazing! Tony was more traditional and a pro at getting our group shots done quickly and efficiently. Voicheck was such a character! Our wedding was at my parent's house and he used all the crazy statues she has, embraced my family's wildness, and made us laugh so our pictures looked less rehearsed. We had our proofs two weeks after the wedding and have not been able to stop looking at them. I was the epidemy of a detailed bride and there were so many things going on that I wanted to capture that I typed out a five page outline of the day and what would happen at each moment that I wanted one of them for (side note: get two photographers! The cost is tiny and it is worth it to have two guys in different places getting everything you want). One of the moment's was the cake my godmother made. All my life she made me my birthday cake and our tradition was that I got to lick the icing off of her fingers. They were there to get that special shot for us. I also requested a "football" picture where our bridal party squared off and played one down of football. They were there and got all the action shots, including the interception by the maid of honor! The girls at the office were amazing, especially that last two weeks before the day. I had so many things going on and they made time to do phone consultions on my lunch break since I was so far away from thier offices. If I had a question at 8PM, I would call and leave a message and they would call me back the next day with the answer. I have not seen the package yet because I have not turned my proofs back in (my fault as its 4 months since our wedding), but I am sure they will turn out amazing. Thank you Artlynn for always taking my calls, being very prompt, taking pictures of craziness like stripper poles in the limo, and for listening to what I wanted. My husband's and my experience with Artlynn has been awesome! We requested Tony because we saw what a great job he did at our close friends' wedding. We liked that not only did Tony capture memorable shots, but he was a very pleasant and helpful person to have around at the wedding as a vendor- someone you can rely on on to make sure the day goes smoothly and is well documented. At our wedding Tony directed some shots while also being present to capture more candid and natural shots as well. During our wedding we certainly took a lot of pictures but our photographer managed to fit these all in while we continued to enjoy our evening mingling and dancing. He asked us and our mothers if we had any requests during the reception and we were all appreciative because as organized as we were, there were shots we just hadn't thought about until the reception. We didn't have portrait time at our reception but fit in group shots when appropriate. Something I really appreciated was that if I requested a shot with people who were not around at a particular instance, our photographer kept these shots in mind and found me and my husband when everyone was back together in the same room. Our photographer had the necessary experience to read us and our families to know which shots to take. The office staff at Artlynn has also been awesome so far. They have sent us reminders via mail and phone to confirm details and notify us about our proofs being ready for pickup. They seem well organized. I also really appreciated that a woman in the office stayed open late for me on a Sunday just after closing so that I could pick up our proofs and understand how to design our album. My fiance and I were referred to Artlynn by the hotel we had booked for our wedding reception. We were to receive 1 free engagement photo after a free session. The level of professionalism throughout that whole process lead us to book Artlynn for our wedding that night. Those pictures turned out amazing and we were very excited to have that same level of quality for our wedding. Well the quality and professionalism was kicked up 5 more notches for our wedding! Our photographer George was absolutely amazing! He was able to corral the bridal party and families for photos without ever coming across as pushy. He was open to ideas that my wife's sister had seen on Pinterest, and had amazing ideas of his own. At the end of the night he asked my wife and I if there were any other pictures we wanted. He had done such an amazing job already we said, "no you can go home! Thank you so much." That is when George went from amazing to remarkable. He responded by saying he would take a few more pictures of the dance floor. He then proceeded to seek out both of our sets of parents and ask them if there were any other pictures they wanted before he left. That level of service is truly something I would have never dreamed of. On top of all of that pictures turned out beautiful and the level of customization for the wedding album is unmatched. Art Lynn Photography is the kind of local business that is clueless when it comes to customer service. I'm surprised they've stayed in business so long. Their hours are inconvenient. They open and close at different times on different days of the week. And not just weekends, but weekdays too. And even though they are open on Fridays, their photo lab is closed. There's no rhyme or reason to it, and they don't seem to care how inconvenient their hours are for those of us who have day jobs. I thought I had found a good place to develop film and make high quality (better than the machine at the grocery or pharmacy) prints. I was wrong. The sign on the front of their building claims they develop film in 30 minutes. They don't. It takes at least 24 hours, and that's if you come on the right day (remember, the lab is closed on Fridays, as well as Saturdays and Sundays). They have a "loyalty card" that promises one free roll of film after you develop 12 rolls. But there are so many restrictions (in very fine print on the back of the card) that it's almost completely useless. They must make most of their money on wedding photography, because they don't seem to care at all about non-wedding customers who just want to develop film or make prints. They treat some of their customers like they don't matter because they're not spending as much money as other customers. Avoid this place. read more

While planning my wedding I looked spoke to my sister about who photographed her wedding and she said Artlynn but told me she wasn't 100% happy with her services from them. Her wedding was 8 years ago so I chose to go in and speak to them anyways. When I first arrived there was a gentleman who told me he was from another location but he could help me. I explained some of the details of my wedding (as I was having a unique theme) and he got as excited as I was. I was very impressed with his very personable attitude and great attitude. I asked him if he would photograph my wedding himself and he said he would but told me that Tim would do a better job. He explained to me that Tim was an amazing photographer and that my wedding was right up his alley. He was very right. I could not walk away from a company with such an honest and passionate person and we signed the contract a day or two later. On the day of my wedding Tim was very prompt, polite, kind, and funny. He worked well with all of my challenges including my young ring bearers who did not want to cooperate and my German Shepherd flower girl. He helped me achieve a good variety of poses and took A LOT of pictures for me to choose from later. I could not have asked for a better photographer. The office also got my proof book to me very promptly which helped wrap up our experience that I would recommend to anyone. read more

Out of all of the photographers we met with, Artlynn was the most professional, and you could tell they have all of their ducks in a row. We met with Denise during our first consultation. She laid out all of the details and information very clearly. While we were still deciding on our photography company, Artlynn changed their packages. Even with this change they allowed us to keep the original package we had discussed months after we first met. Denise was also always very quick to get back to use via email or phone. We had George as our photographer on the day of our wedding. George and Artlynn were recommended by a family friend that had used them 25 years ago. He was phenomenal. Very upbeat, well mannered, understanding and flexible. He has a knack for what he does and you can tell he is still passionate about it. George knew how to get people to smile and laugh when necessary...even my three year old niece whom by picture time after church was getting a little cranky. He was able to take the shots we asked him to even though we were crunched for time due to some uncontrollable timing issues. George also got those "at the right moment" shots even if he was mid taking candid poses. His ability to adapt,and remain calm and collected was greatly appreciated. Undoubtedly, we made the correct decision in selecting Artlynn as our wedding photographer! There is a reason that this family business has been around for 25+ years! They are cost-competitive (actually a bit lower than other photographers we considered) and offered more re-assurances than others with regards to backup photographers, equipment, etc. They are complete professionals and are experienced enough to know what shots we would want. Tony and Jeff added creativity, enthusiasm, and great attitudes to our wedding day and were able to capture wonderful shots. Denise was incredibly helpful both before the wedding day to recommend appropriate opportunities to take certain family photos as well as afterwards, as we put our album together. In addition to the standard online gallery and digital prints, Artlynn still offers a full proof book, which is not only convenient for relatives who aren't online, but it's also ideal to compare actual photos side-by-side. Plus, we keep that proof book! Artlynn also prints their own images in their studio. As a tip to engaged couples, we recommend 2 photographers for the entire day, to ensure that nothing is missed. The photos of the groom getting ready with his family were just as wonderful as those of the bride. read more

My mother-in-law had found out about Artlynn from a friend who recommended them. Tim was our wedding photographer and he was quite professional. He was flexible in accommodating for requested shots. He does have this phrase "spontaneous laughter" that threw some of us for a loop and resulted in some awkward expressions. But overall, the pictures were beautiful, especially the more candid shots. It was raining and cold the day of our wedding so we were limited in where we could take pictures. I was impressed how he was able to use this small area of plants and flowers by the building entrance and turn it into a pretty backdrop. As for the proofs on the website, they are posted in groups with only 12 pictures per page. It would have been easier to peruse the pictures if there were more per page. I've noticed that some other photographers will post a few wedding pictures on a blog or website that can be easily shared with others on social media. But that's not how this website works. Not necessarily a negative thing as the tight control over picture copyright is understandable from a business perspective. But it's something to note for couples who are looking to easily share photos on Facebook. read more

Both of my sisters who were married before us used Artlynn for their weddings, so we decided this was probably a good decision for us. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made! Our photographer Tony was amazing! I had many requests of specialty pictures and he did them all! He did so many creative shots and caught every moment we will want to remember 50 years from now. Our guests liked that there was a backdrop for their families to take professional/funny shots at. The quality of the pictures is excellent as well: inside had perfect lighting and outside shots-even the night ones- came out better than we could have imagined. Tony was so flexible coming early when we requested. He traveled from where the girls were to where the guys were, and even after the ceremony got the bride/groom pictures fighting the darkness, and still managed to get all the shots we wanted. So many of our guests compliments the professionalism of Tony and said he would let them get their own photographs of what he was shooting. We hired Artlynn Photography for our July 2014 wedding. We are EXTREMELY pleased with EVERYTHING. Prior to booking, they were so very helpful and friendly to explain each package. Also, I really liked how they have been around for many years. We didn't need the engagement session so they were accommodating to that. Everything was explained to us so we were able to make our decision. Tim, our photographer, called a few days before to get some information as well. I printed off some Pinterest ideas, and he was able to capture those poses. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy....flooded in Burbank....wedding day. Tim parked a few blocks away to still get to my house on time to capture the "getting ready" moments. He was VERY easy to work with and very friendly. He captured the day beautifully and took pictures of everything. The turn around for proofs was no more than 3 weeks. Artlynn was recommended to us by my now mother in law. We went there for our first apt, and were completely blown away with the place. They were so kind, respectful, and informative. We met with Tony on our first apt, and found out he was also one of the photographers. So, after having such an amazing experience, we asked if he was available on the day of our wedding. We are really glad we chose Artlynn Photography for our wedding day! I was referred to them by several family members who had used them for their weddings over the years. From the beginning, the staff in Evergreen Park was kind, helpful and not pushy. The packages are very reasonable compared to other companies. Our photographer, Tony, was awesome! He was very friendly, patient and had a great eye for detail. I even received compliments from my guests-everyone felt at ease getting their pictures taken by him. This has been my second experience with Artlynn Photography. Ten years ago, they took the most beautiful pictures for my friend's wedding. Since then, I tucked Artlynn in the back of my mind for when I got married. In the Spring of 2014, I selected Artlynn as our wedding photographer after comparing several photographers in the area. They were by far the most helpful, knowledgable and reasonably priced. Everyone was friendly and professional from the call to set up an appointment, to our consultation, to our wedding day photographer. Our pictures captured our special day perfectly. Artlynn was extremely awesome in everything we needed in a great photographer for our wedding. They sat down and explained everything to us - from what each package entailed to what would work best for us. Whenever we had a question, they would get back to us within the same day. As the bride, the actual wedding day is such a blur - so seeing the proofs from our wedding made it so great to relive again! I had given our photographer (Tim) a print out of pictures I had seen on Pinterest that I would like him to recreate, and he did every single one and made it our own! My husband and I are very pleased with the service we were promised with Art Lynn Photography. Our photographer's name was Tim and he was awesome. Tim knew just what he was doing and he made the day very easy for us all. We spent no time just waiting around for him to figure out what he wanted to do, his envisions came to life and his creativity showed in our proofs. The office staff was great and they really helped us out when we went in for the first time all nervous and confused. We paid big bucks for the Romance Album, but it will totally be worth it because the albums look gorgeous and it is something we will be proud of showing our coworkers, friends, family, future children, and future grandchildren. Hired Artlynn Photography for my wedding and they did an amazing job! They were very helpful in making recommendations for the pictures and locations. Tony was our photographer and did an awesome job! He captured the pictures I wanted while also adding his own little touch to make the most.The only thing I regret was asking him to stay a little longer. He left about 30 minutes before the reception was over. For the last song, the band circled my husband and I and everyone was dancing. Wish we had pictures professionally taken. Luckily our family had their camera's out. The turn around for the pictures was very fast. We received them in about 10 days. The pictures looked great, are conveniently on the website and proofs are also provided. read more
