Pro- It is a good Community College in the fact that a student will get a good base education here…read more I learned a lot at MCC. Pro- It is inexpensive. Most of the instructors care about the students. Pro-Macomb has many good professors who love their jobs and care about the students. Con- Some of the so-called professors are very unprofessional, (math professors in particular) don't care whether the students pass or not, and deserve to be fired. When you have students putting in the effort and doing the work and instructors aren't showing up, showing up without a syllabus and/or being lost in their own textbook, it's time to re-evaluate who should be employed there. Especially if 3/4 of the class is failing. I would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the 2 or 3 subpar professors I had to endure who ruined my GPA. I earned a better GPA at Walsh College, a more difficult school than at Macomb due to Macomb's poor professors. Tutors here do not want you coming in and asking them for help. They're attitude is you're bothering them.

I grew up living pretty much a block away from MCC. I received two associates degrees from this school way back in the day. My highschool graduation was held at this venue. But as far as the robotics competition, it was not really a suitable venue. This place was simply too small for the number of attendees. The gym area was big enough for the contest and there were plenty of giant screens to watch from. But the bleachers were very small and quite scary. Some of the seats were completely broken. Many people had to sit on the floor which is not ideal once you hit about 40. They had a nice concession stand set up but only four tables. And you had to stand. My back was killing me and these competitions are 12 hours long each day. So sitting in a real chair would have been nice! There weren't enough rooms. So the presentation and Q&A portion was held in a room with nothing but curtain dividers. Now you get a group of 15 Jr high kids together and they are going to be distracted by all of the outside noises etc. Also, that room was also what they set up for the lunch room. So we were unable to get in the room until 12:30 on Friday. No snacks for these kids and no where for them to put their stuff or blow off steam. What a nightmare. MCC offered a pre-ordered box lunch with a variety of options for $6.50. This was nice however, it was extremely unorganized. They also had more diet Pepsi than regular. Seems odd for a kids event ‍. The real odd part for me was that there was a mask mandate by both MCC and also FIRST robotics. I agree with this mandate, however they then stuck about 1000 kids and all of their parents in this make shift cafeteria to remove their masks and eat. There was not enough room for the whole team to sit and eat. The adults had to stand. But talk about a super spreader event! I mean why bother with masks if you're going to do that? I worked first aid and witnessed a panic attack over the cafeteria situation. I will say campus police were heavily present. Oxford highschool hosted the event and they did a lot to make them feel safe. Not to mention, Friday was a day of some stupid tick tock challenge so security was on high alert. One thing I found odd was that if there was an emergency we were directed by MCC to call campus police and not 911. But what are they going to do if we needed an ambulance? Just very strange. But thankfully, other than vomit, a sprained ankle from the bleachers, and a few bandaids there were zero major events.

When I used it to reserve my "free" session (because I was using the gift card), it would not let me complete the reservation without entering credit card information. I thought it was in case the gift card was invalid or something. Well, PWaT deducted the $40 from my bank account, and the gift card was never applied (FYI: I did type in the # and click "Apply"). It was not reversible because I came to the session (and let the instructor know). So, if you have this issue, report it to the studio right away *and the Better Business Bureau*. Just in case this becomes a bigger issue.

I was told I needed to attend class with her other last day. As my child was to difficult to instruct. My child is on the spectrum but was able to complete all 4 days of the class. As a working parent I cannot attend an art class that is supposed to have an experience child art instructor. Thiskolcamp experience turned from excitement to tears. A fun camp that should have been filled with instruction and learning ended up with frustration and disappointment. I do not recommend if you have a child that cannot do art at a fast pace. Or a child that needs some extra support because there is little to no understanding.

Student and Professional Level Competitors within Michigan and nearby state was able to experience cooking in their updated kitchen. There's a dishwashing machine in every room which makes cleaning dirty dishes Convenient. The kitchen is well lay-out to maximize space which is a good experience for students enrolled here. One gets to learn how to work within restricted area. So far the cleanest and organized kitchen I've seen. The cooler is compact but is wide enough to store a variety herbs, vegetables and meat products. Dishes and pots are well organized in racks. Saw a computer lab, vending machine, lounge area and business office. Parking is next to JC Penny. Students from this school have a positive attitude, especially Justin (friendly and helpful), competitive and have great potential in the culinary industry! Thank you Dorsey School Culinary department for your great hospitality and modern kitchen.

To Anyone Considering Dorsey:…read more I was a student at Dorsey in 2009. Tuition for my 6 month program was $5,000. Horrible instructor that did not teach us anything. She just showed up in class. I learned the studies myself from home. Fast forward. Same 6 month program is now $16,000. In 2019 I accepted an instructor position. Three years teaching experience and excellent grades and student surveys where I used to teach. My students at Dorsey are in the A-B grade range. Good instruction confirms this; happily did work from home to enhance the program. It never mattered that I was not paid. It needed to be done for my classes. I always remembered to work hard for them vs my Dorsey student experience 10 years earlier. So overall, as a former student and former instructor, do NOT attend Dorsey. So many issues that a reputable school would not place upon any student. Unprofessional and unethical. How Dorsey remains accredited?? Chapters missing. Labs missing. Equipment missing. Top priority is money. They cannot receive student government loan money (full payment to Dorsey) if not accredited. Quality education matters less. Nothing has changed in 10 years for the better. I would recommend Macomb Comm College. A student deserves a full program and organization. Those loans have to be paid back. The value for your dollar and going into such debt to attend Dorsey? Michigan Board of Education should be made aware of multiple violations. Choose wisely is my advice.

Are you sitting in your coach, wondering what to do tonight? Nothing exciting on TV? That was me,…read moremost nights, especially after working all day. I knew I had to be more physically active as I entered my 50s, but I wasn't the type to go to the gym or run a 5k. After talking to my friends, family, and my awe-inspiring cousin Shelly, I decided to take my first dance lesson at In Movement Ballroom Dance Studio (IMBDS). IMBDS was my first introduction to social and ballroom dancing. I started with a group dance lessons, then took a few more before deciding to take private lessons to continue learning, growing, and becoming more active. I also wanted to feel less awkward since I lacked confidence in my dancing skills. As the weeks turned into months, we had social outings where we danced, attended baseball games, Friday Night open dancing, celebrated birthdays, and contributed to charitable organizations. I even participated in my first dance recital and am preparing for my second. I've been at the studio for only nine months! One of the biggest benefits of taking dance lessons at IMBDS is the boost in confidence that comes with it. When you dance, you're putting yourself out there for others to see. This was a bit scary for me, but with the right instruction and support from the amazing instructors (thank you Jason) , it was also incredibly empowering. Dancing for me is more than just a physical activity. It's a way to express yourself, connect with others, and boost my confidence and creativity. I've made so many friends and feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing group! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, single or married, you can come alone or with a partner. There's a place for everyone at IMBDS. With experienced instructors, supportive students, and a variety of dance styles to choose from, I guarantee you'll make the right choice by picking IMBDS. I can't wait to dance with you!
