I woke up Monday morning with an almost flat tire and I was on my way out of town to South Carolina by myself. It was an emergency situation! I called Art's and Chris said to bring it in (I've been a loyal customer of Art's for 9 years). They were able to squeeze me in at the last minute, fix my tire, air up the rest of my tires, and made sure I was safe to leave on my trip. I love Art's Automotive! I took my 2022 Rav 4 to Bowie Toyota for an oil change because I get free service on my vehicle. I was informed that I was not due for an oil change because they only do it every 10,000 miles, but since I was there I could get a free tire rotation. After waiting 2 hours they informed me that I needed an alignment and service to my air conditioner. I did not believe this was true so I refused the service. I came home and made an appointment with Art's Automotive for the following week, even though it is further from my home, I had been to them before and always treated honestly and fairly. I got my oil change, they checked everything on my car and found nothing wrong at all. Kris showed me the alignment paperwork and it was all fine, something Toyota did not do. He said I had a leaf on the air conditioner filter which he just took off. I will never go anywhere else for my car maintenance and service, I will definitely not go back to Toyota of Bowie. read more

This shop is run by clowns! I had my personal truck in for tire rotation and inspect cause of occasional "clunk" from front end. They had my truck for a whole day (I was told it would take two hours), charged me $100.00 for an inspection (that was not even close to what was wrong) and never rotated my tires. Frustrated, I took it to another shop in the area and had the proper repairs done and yes, the tires were rotated. Giving them another chance, I took my company [fleet] vehicle there for diagnosis since check engine and service engine lights were coming on. Once again, they had it for a full day. When I would call for status I was told thirty more minutes, that turned into two hours. When I started the vehicle to leave, the service engine light was still on. "Oh, I guess the mechanic forgot to clear the error code" was what I was told. Forty minutes later, they still couldn't clear the code and I was told that they would have to contact Ford Service and get back to me. Five days later, still no call. They did reset my oil change reminder (back to 100% life) and never changed my oil! Thanks guys! The sign on the side of the garage says "voted best automotive repair in Calvert County". If this were so, the county must be in real bad shape. read more

Dropped our son's Honda Accord off for a timing belt service and valve cover gasket change a few weeks back. Very appreciative to the sharp eye of the tech who noticed the crankshaft pulley bolt was missing when he pulled the timing cover off. Before they proceeded, we received multiple pictures documenting the issue. Had it not been for the sharp eye of the tech, something catastrophic could have happened down the road! Art's saved us thousands of dollars had that pulley separated from the motor, so a Big Thank You from our family! read more

Car broke down at 7 eleven would not start..... I though it was the starter not the battery so I Figured I run over to Arts and see if somebody could look at it before I called AAA in case it was something minor. It was 1:45pm on a Saturday. As I approached the entire place was shut down, looked like a ghost town.... The open sign was not on.... I tried the door just in case and it was open. Walked and and found 2 employees sitting at the counter. Told them all of the above. First thing out of their mouth was "uhhhh we close at 2". I said excuse me? I have been doing business with Art for 20 years and always found the work superior and the service excellent.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING!!! Went there to get my car inspection done. 1. They failed it because there was a small crack on the driver side mirror. They wanted $570 to repair that. Safe lite auto glass co. replaced it for $73. 2. It needed about one ounce of power steering fluid. They wanted $36 to add one oz. of fluid. The other shop did it for free. 3. They said it needed sway bar link and outer c.v boot on passenger side. They wanted $955 to repair that. Went to another shop and they said the front axel and c.v boot was in great shape, but needed sway bar link. The other shop replaced both sides for $120 parts and labor. 4. They said it needed front end aligned for $300. Other shop said it didn't need it at all. 5. They said it needed two new rear tires. They quoted me $570 each with mount and balanced. The other shop got same tires that were originally on car for $460 for both plus mount and balancing. 6. Last to top it off if I didn't have repairs done from them they were gonna charge me again for inspection. Don't see how they can live with themselves lying and ripping people off like that. read more

Horrible business DO NOT GO HERE! Dishonest, liars and cheats. I took my vehicle here to get a leaking tire fixed. They said it was a valve stem that needed replaced they charged me $30 to do the repair. A week later my tire was flat. I returned it and they said it had damage to the sidewall and they couldn't repair it. I talked to the mechanic who worked on it. He said that the valve stem in the tire was old and it hadn't been replaced. He said their valve stems are different than the one in my tire. They charged me and didn't do the repair. I'd NEVER go back to this place, you shouldn't either. I'd give them no stars if it was an option. read more

I dropped my vehicle at this business for a Maryland inspection. After completition, I was told that it would require over $3200.00 in repairs to pass the inspection. I was sceptical of the inspection results as they said my truck needed new front wheel bearings. I had replaced these bearings less than 10,000 miles before this inspection. I took the vehicle to another repair facility and passed their inspection with less than $1200.00 in cost to me. You be the judge. And yes the wheel bearings were fine. read more

Stay away at all costs!! Dropped my BMW off at the shop because there was some sort of electrical drain that was killing my batteries. They diagnosed it as coming from two sources, a gps tracking device (reasonable to think that) and from a cd changer wire that wasn't even plugged in (what??) Anyway, they removed the gps tracking device and unplugged the cd changer wire, and still the battery is draining. After getting the car back, I discovered that the horn no longer works and the right front speaker is now blown (makes a crackling noise when playing music.) So I paid $365 for them to incorrectly diagnose the power drain, to break my horn, and blow my speakers. Stay away from these punks... read more

YOU JUDGE: I bring car in for MD inspection to register it. While up on the lift then discover the rear drums and brake cylinders need to be replaced on both sides and they recommend a brake fluid flush. All total they quote me $950.00. I took the vehicle home and did the entire job in 45 mins with $165.00 in parts, WHILE teaching my 14yo how to do it. (He did the second side with my oversight and helped pump the brakes for me.) I return for re-inspection and ask the basis for their estimate. The Owner's reasoning: "We buy better parts than local stores so it costs more." Yeah. Right. My opinion... they tried to rip me off. I've been in the business and their excuse is the standard BS line given by those that lack integrity. Realistically. Say the parts cost TWICE as much... does that mean labor was $253??? for less than an hour's work? Remember, they already had it on the lift, disassembled. So labor would be in changing out the cylinders (15mins each) and grabbing the new drums for reassembly, then bleed the brake line (which is the same as replacing the brake fluid they 'recommended' for $99.00) Again. Brought my beloved minivan in to have a 2nd opinion on whether the transmission could be saved. Owner and prior local mechanic both said the engine was running great and van and engine were in wonderful condition. The transmission needed repairs though. He quoted about $4k to rebuild transmission, so we decided we would trade it in for a new car. He called several times to try to get me to have him fix it. And now I know why. He left the keys in the car and asked me to pick it up after they were closed. When I started the car, the engine was extremely noisy. The engine popped loudly into gears. The exhaust was smoking constantly. The engine light was on. The engine made a constant clattering noise. NONE of this was happening just hours earlier when I had dropped it off. As a military family - and as someone who works in the Church - I am so extremely disappointed. I try to trust and have high hopes for new communities which we move into. After seeing how our vehicle was treated - after being the only car our military children have known and after 7 moves around the country - we are just so completely disheartened. We have lost all respect due to the lack of integrity and common courtesy. What a sad, sad way to run a business. I can't imagine anyone wanting to attribute their name to a business with such lack of integrity. read more

I have had work done on two vehicles over the last two years at Art's Automotive. I had the rear tires replaced on my 2013 Audi after I had damaged one beyond repair; this was in 2014. So far in 2016, Art's has installed an after-market cat-back exhaust in my 2016 F-150, followed a couple months later by a front level kit, then followed a few weeks later with the installation, mounting and balancing of custom wheels and tires. I have been satisfied with their work each and every time. With every visit Jeff (manager) has treated me right, given me confidence that my vehicle was being treated as they would treat one of their own and always with my safety in mind... I trust Art's and will not hesitate to continue to take my vehicles there in the future. read more
