After a wonderful morning walking around town visiting the indoor market, the lovely side streets…read more(such a colorful town), the main cathedral and the Replica of the Columbus ship Santa Maria (small museum inside), we were ready for lunch.
I asked the woman at the museum for a restaurant recommendation. I told her we wanted to have a variety of tapas. She immediately suggested this place, in which she said it was one of her favorites.
It was a 10-minute walk from the museum. We were able to get the last table outside under an umbrella.
There were four of us, so we ordered a nice round of tapas: shrimp of the season, serrano ham, smoked fresh cheese (topped with large raisins), and chorizo, and bread right out of the oven. Along with that two of us had sangrias; the other two had beers. The sangrias were refreshing and a nice change from just drinking wine.
The shrimp were very small and difficult to eat. One of my friends ate the entire shrimp (but not the head) stating he wasn't bothered by the shell. I much prefer the gambas al ajillo.
Everything else was excellent. The juice from the chorizo was sopped with the bread. The cheese had a nice smoky flavor but not too heavy.
Friendly service by our waiter.
Over all, a great choice for lunch!
