This is a delayed post because I had forgot about my encounter with them. I was asked for a jewelry repair recommendation and decided to tell them about my encounter. The individuals I dealt with lacked integrity. The initial contact with the man okay the counter measured my chain and gave me a claim ticket. He also explained that they are protecting me and them regarding the length remaining intact. I didn't think much about a small heart tag that had the karat stamped. I have had the chain for 20 years. And in most pictures it is visible. Yet when it was returned to me it was clipped off the chain where it use to adjust the size of my chain. When I inquired with the jeweler, he stated I deal with thousands and thousands of dollars of jewelry why would I do that. I had my adult daughter present at the time of this encounter and she confirmed the heart being there to the jeweler. They continued to deny it was there. OMG! I went to this store about 5 years ago for some appraisals and they were very good. My wedding ring needed some work I'd beat the center stone up and it was looking very dull and the gold posts holding it in place were starting to deteriorate, I was concerned I might lose the stone. He told me ASC in the center where BigLots and Denny's is. I was skeptical, but he obviously had very expensive stuff that you don't just drop off anywhere. Second, when I went to see ASC, they first evaluated and photographed all my pieces and was very astute about the quality and origin. Thirdly, he was able to resize two antique platinum pieces very quickly for me, as my fiancee had decided to get married that weekend!!!! I then took several rings over for resizing and restoration. My wife and I had decided to have custom wedding rings made. After three and a half weeks working with a jeweler in La Quinta and waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for sketches, we started getting anxious because the wedding date was heading our way FAST. So we started shopping around. We got a referral to the brothers Ascensio at ASC Jewelers and decided to check them out. Their store front is an unassuming slice of a boring commercial area near Big Lots in Cathedral City. Who knows what you'll find in those tiny strip malls? As it turned out, we discovered Fausto and Alan ... who KNOW THEIR STUFF. They took one look at the last of three (disappointing) sketches from our previous jeweler and (without being the slightest bit rude or snarky) deconstructed it from a production standpoint. I.E. the setting did not allow enough room for the height of the stone, the setting would have to be a wedge, and the two tone gold would all have to be cast separately and assembled at the end. All of this was news, but also confirmation that they knew what they were talking about. We fine tuned the concept and they sent us a revised sketch within 48 hours. We asked for some changes and they made them in hours. It was night and day from our previous experience... which is what happens when you work with real craftsmen who know their trade. We gave them two weeks to deliver a custom ring, and they were ready for us a couple of days early. We even went in to look at the raw casting and asked for adjustments to make the ring more wearable. No problem. Compared to the grief we got from cake makers, Fausto and Alan made the creation of a lifelong piece of jewelry so painless it was amazing. And the response we get from people when they see the ring is so rewarding. YES. It is gorgeous, distinctive, and incredibly well made. You can trust these guys to work with you to create what you want. Quality. Luxury. Beauty. World class jewelry. I have a one in a million ring that looks like I spent $20K on it, but it cost us a fraction of that. Go talk to ASC Jewelers.
