I rented a condo managed by Ascend Property Management for four years. In the beginning, everything seemed fine, but over time the quality of service and maintenance became extremely disappointing.
Throughout my tenancy, I dealt with multiple maintenance issues that were either fixed poorly or not properly addressed at all. The bottom of my front door had ongoing problems and was ultimately fixed by the owner's stepfather rather than the property management company. I repeatedly reported a strong sewage odor in the condo over the course of years, and despite numerous complaints, the issue was never resolved.
I also experienced problems with my toilet not flushing properly. Once again, it was the owner's stepfather who came out and fixed it. When my bathtub became clogged, I eventually had to fix it myself because I was tired of dealing with incomplete repairs and delays. Before I had moved out, my washing machine almost flooded the bathroom because maintenance had installed a short tube that wasn't properly connected. It came loose and water went everywhere. Thankfully, I was able to catch it in time and soak up and clean the mess myself.
The final straw came when I decided not to renew my lease. Ascend Property Management apparently told the owners that I was moving because the rent had increased. That is completely false. I did not move because of the rent. In fact, the place I moved into costs more than the condo I was renting. I moved because I was tired of dealing with ongoing maintenance issues, poor communication, and a management company that consistently failed to properly address problems.
The owners themselves were always pleasant to deal with, but my experience with Ascend Property Management was frustrating enough that it ultimately drove me to leave after four years. I cannot recommend them based on my experience. read more
