The lady working the desk kept forgetting to send my son's check in link to my phone she sent mine and finally sent his after I reminded her twice. And we were both there with shortness of breathe due to our asthma and being sick. They didn't even check our 02 for at least an hour or so and mine was low. Scheduling a test with St. Vincent's is always an exercise in patience, but this experience was ridiculous, and they also didn't seem to think it was important to tell me the test was 3 hours long. First, after a 3 week wait, I was sent a link to self schedule. The link couldn't find me, so I called the number on the link, and after 40 mins on hold, they couldn't find me. Then, I received a voice mail with a different number who also couldn't find me. So, back to the voicemail to find the name of the person, call back, and leave several messages for that person who never calls back. Finally, call the doc back and get another link that finally works. Then they call me back with instructions for the test, but don't bother telling me it is 3 hours long. I show up at 9:30 for a 10 A.M. appointment, and I am called back close to 11 to then be informed that the test takes up to 3 hours and I have to reschedule because guess what? I had other things planned, and my daughter was with me. If I had known, I could have made other arrangements. St. Vincent's, how about having some respect for your patients' time!!!!!! read more

I have had the most frustrating experience with this hospital. My mother was admitted to this hospital with stroke-like symptoms. Apparently the doctors decided that she did not have a stroke but has early on-set dementia. Over the course of four weeks, I could not get one doctor who was treating her to reach out to me to give me more information on her diagnosis or how she was doing. I was put in touch with the care team who tried to help me figure out long-term care for her but they eventually stopped returning my calls. I had to find out from another case manager at another hospital that they had transferred her! My mom's case is a complex one--she has limited means and has been estranged from her family, so there was lots of information I was not able fill in for the hospital. But she still has people who care for her and they could not be bothered to let us know where she even was. I honestly think they didn't want the headache of dealing with her case and decided to make it another hospital's responsibility. read more

I adored the nurses, Blood woman,housekeeper,food delivery even some doctors in training, Dr Weldon was the ONLY doctor concerned about me and has checked up on me several times, The other Doctors not so caring and wanted to boot me out. Surgery was set up for colon cancer , mass removel , 6 hours later i was released into the street. with no plan. The mental anguish i felt was unmeasureable. Afew days later 14 hours in UAB emergency room, 3 hours in an actual room. Gave them all information i had from St Vincents St clair's. talked to four doctors was released. Nothing told to me , my mind realing in what i was going to do. The next morning my phone blew up with medical professionals wanting to help me. I have several appointments set up with UAB , with surgery in the near future. Its all about money, if you dont have it dont go to St. Vincent's St. Clair's , its really that simple. read more

Went for a MRI and was told there would be an insurance copay for the MRI and a copay for the hospital facility charge. Total copay of $245.00. I have never been charged a facility copay. The people at the registration desk were rude and unhelpful, so I left. I could go to their ER and request a MRI and still be money ahead. Have spent hours on the phone trying to settle this matter at no avail. I was never offered a explanation of this facility charge nor has anyone offered to reschedule the MRI. This is nothing but a scam to bill more money and may be subject to legal review with the insurance commission in the state of Alabama. read more

The medical staff and services offered at this hospital are superb. My family member received excellent care by very competent health care staff, additionally everyone went out of their way to make her family comfortable and kept us well informed. Went into the ER and left my AirPods and the staff stole them. They did not care and was not helpful at all. Did not try and help. Very rude. I was the only patient there when I went so there was no reason for my items to be stolen. They didn't help went home and was still feeling horrible. Will not return. read more

I took my 18 yo to the ER 2 days ago. They had multiple symptoms. The ER ran tests and found a few issues but nothing they found that needed immediate concern and referred them to a specialist. This morning I took my child to the specialist who also couldn't find the cause and then referred them to another specialist thinking that issues may come from that organ system, which had not been looked at by the er. After leaving the specialist my child's symptoms intensified so we called their pediatrician who said go back to the er you need more tests. So we go back. the same doctor is there as before. They come in tell us we were just there and the test didn't show anything and the specialist should have helped and they were going to discharge us and said the issue is muscle strain. Common sense indicates an issue with organs so I called the pediatrician back told them what the er dr said and told them I was extremely concerned because muscle strain doesn't make sense and the pediatrician agreed and said they would assume they would do more tests based on what the urologist said to see if the other organ system had an issue. No tests were done and the pediatrician said explain to the er why we were sent. When the nurse came in to discharge. I explained I didn't understand the diagnosis, I didn't believe based on conversations with other doctors and basic anatomy that muscle relaxers would make organs work. I explained the pediatrician believed other tests should be done and the pediatrician was notating their chart. The nurse said he would talk to the doctor and came back and said the doctor disagrees and is discharging you. I left with no understanding of the doctors diagnosis and with simple instructions of if it gets worse come back, when we were already back because it has gotten worse since two days ago even though they were prescribed meds and have been taking them. The nurse apologized. I told the nurse that the pediatrician said that if they wouldn't help that we needed to drive the Children's in Birmingham and the nurse said that was up to us but the doctor was adamant about discharge but if it gets worse come back. I am mortified to know that such a careless doctor works in this er. I am mortified to know that my child's organ function is of zero concern. I am disgusted that instead of going to my closest er I will have to drive to Birmingham from now on and I'm terrified for something detrimental to happen where I might be treated her because I have zero faith my care and/or life will be taken seriously. I'm utterly appalled. I have left a message with patient relations and hope to hear back. It's insane to me I can not even get an explanation how the diagnosis today is completely unrelated to the diagnosis the other day or anything any other doctor has suggested and that this doctor won't explain their thought process in their diagnosis. read more

From mistaking staph infection for a spider bite, all the way to not giving my farther in law a proper exam and telling him his ear was leaking...he has a crack in his skull and was leaking brain fluid. read more
