None of the art is paid with public tax dollars. Opened in October of last year, ArtWalk, is an event and entertainment space in downtown Coral Springs. It is on NW 31st Court and runs between University and Coral Hills Drives . The ArtWalk is 1300 feet long and has benches, a seating wall, native plant landscaping, and room for event tents. It serves as a park and a place for the city to display temporary art works, some of which they will eventually purchase. I enjoyed checking out the six art works on display which currently include Coalescence, Ascent, Beyond, Union One, and Give Them Wings. My favorite was the steel orchids that make up Coalescence. It is free to enjoy the art and it looks different depending on whether you visit during the day or at night. I look forward to seeing what else the city adds as well as attending events here.

The ArtWalk is 1300 feet long and has benches, a seating wall, native plant landscaping, and room for event tents. It serves as a place for the city to display temporary art works, some of which they will eventually purchase. Coalescence is my favorite art work of the six currently presented on the ArtWalk. Installed in August of this year, it is a 16 foot tall orchid sculpture by artist William Nemitoff. The metal orchids are separate with lighting inside the petals and under the leaves. The piece is interactive so feel free to sit, stand, and even jump on it's wooden leaves. The sculpture was created out of galvanized steel, concrete, ipe wood, and LED lights at a cost of $97,000. By day music plays and the flowers glow white. At night the flowers change color depending on who is around it. The more people who are on it and the more movement it detects, the louder the music gets and the lights become brighter. The orchid represents how delicate the environment and the piece conveys the message that the more people come together the better they are able to protect the earth. I love how the artist is trying to highlight an important issue, climate change while at the time making a beautiful piece of art that everyone can enjoy.

So only One more Week left to view this interesting, important work by various Haitian artists. A great Toussaint artwork and one piece made of Skittles into the face of "Tupac." If you look at the Skittle piece up close you may not be able to see it is, in fact, Tupac Shakur. Inside the actual museum which was once a gymnasium Basketball Court is a weaving exhibit entitled "Ancestral Lines" which has been here a couple of months- having opened on April 4, 2025- and, I think, will be here about another month until sometime in July 5, 2025, as I recall. I don't think you can actually call this a museum. It's a wonderful little gallery of three or four…read morerooms put together. There are very few art pieces, but it is still a nice outing. I was very happy to learn that they sell beverages so you can walk around with them! I will try that next time. The only problem is that it probably only takes a half an hour to walk around. There is a little garden path outside that you can roam around that has lots of little sculptures and fairy/ gnome houses. It is good for children, as they offer classes and summer programs. It is wonderful as it is a non-profit and free to the community. I appreciate they have different events including book signings and authors, and the space is open for rentals and things. It's overall very cute, but still lots of room for improvement.

It is a 13 foot high, $100,000 glass sculpture made of powdered coated aluminum with LED light. It was created by glass artist Zachary Knudson and serves as an entryway sculpture for the ArtWalk. You can walk through the piece and I love how it looks different depending on whether you are viewing it during the day or at night. This pieces is very unique and Coral Springs is the only city to have an infinity glass sculpture in this style and of this size.

While driving down the Sawgrass Expressway one day I noticed Sunset Hammock, a public art work…read morelocated in Sunset Point Park in Tamarac. I made a mental note to come back and get a better look. Completed in November of 2023, this monumental new artwork was created by artist Margi Glavovic who was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and grew up in Durban, South Africa. In 1999 she founded Glavovic Studio, an architecture firm in Ft, Lauderdale,. Since its inception Glavovic Studios has created affordable housing, parks, commercial spaces, museums, landscapes, and public art commissions. Nature plays a large part in her design inspiration. Sunset Hammock is an interactive in-situ metal land bridge structure that transforms into a community periscope to view the Everglades. An observational boardwalk, which includes a modular red aluminum walkway leads to a large community periscope measuring 20 feet by 3 feet, which offers a view into the Everglades that lie beyond the Sawgrass Expressway. The hammock in the artworks name comes from the hammock ecosystem found in the Florida Everglades. It is a shady tropical forest found on higher elevations and which provide important habitat for many species of wildlife, including nine federally listed species. While most hammocks are now federally protected many acres were lost to developers who were looking for higher ground to build on. This artwork was designed to give visitors a glimpse into the nearby Florida Everglades while bringing together conceptual art and nature. With this art piece Glavovic wants to raise awareness about the critical role of the Everglades within the ecological balance of South Florida. The project was created to integrate the adjacent wetland with this community park. Sunset Hammock is part of the city's Public Art Program and was approved by the city commission in April 2021. In 2020 it won am AIA Fort Lauderdale Honor Award and has been awarded grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Florida Land and Water Conservation Fund. The $1.1 million art installation was funded through a $400K Land and Water Conservation Grant and Public Art Funds. I love the interactive nature of this art. It incorporates art, science, community, and nature to spark interest in the Everglades which will hopefully lead to more people learning about the importance of its ecosystem. It is also a great place to watch the sun set.

People put so much work and effort into this festival. We totally appreciate it. The things we love about the Florida Renaissance Festival is you feel like you've been lifted out of this regular world into a whole new place and everybody makes that happen that works there. The beautiful ambience of the park the decor all around, the awesome artworks that people create, the costumes. The music is one of my all-time favorites. It's part of the reason why I come here every year. Also you can try so many different types of foods that's always so exciting. I love dressing up, wearing costumes and walking through the park talking with other like-minded people. We enjoyed so many shows this year from the Washing Well Winches, to the guy playing the Bells, all the different Irish bands, like Celtic mayhem, one of my favorites is the band from Italy Rota they are awesome especially when they play in the street and we can dance all around so fun. What an amazing event! It was like stepping back into time and into fairy tale stories! With the…read moremost unique thing being that not only the workers dress up and act but so do the people who attend. I saw medieval characters, gladiators & knights, pirates, fairies and nymphs, even a wizard! And of course with a costume contest. Quiet Waters Park was converted into a story book. Unique performances with music, comedy, drama, juggling dancing and with interaction like the Maypole. Also jousting and horsriding competitions and cannon & trebuchet firing.There was Archery, Axe throwing, a maze, sword fighting and instruction, cobbling, jewelry making. A variety of activities for kids as well as adults. Especially adults who want to be kids...like me! Lol Souvenir shops with items that you don't see every day, like a dragon egg candle that once melted reveals a baby dragon just like in Game of Thrones! Also good food and drinks throughout the park. I didn't think I would spend that much time here but I spent the entire day practically without even realizing time had passed! A great time to immerse yourself in a world of fantasy, merriment & amazement! I truly enjoyed everything here!

The Living Story of Coral Springs is a $150,000 public art piece that was installed this year in…read morehonor of Coral Spring's 60th anniversary in 2023. It is located next to the Coral Springs History Museum and across from Aiello Field in Mullins Park. Spanish artist Casto Solano (b. 1958) was selected to create the art piece. Solano has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe as he gained acclaim as a modern artist. He began his art career as a visual artist painting landscapes. Now he creates sculptures in corten steel. Corten steel also called weathered steel was designed to not need paint. Over a few months it transforms into a stable rust appearance. Solano's sculptures have precise shapes with natural rusted textures. Solano is now based out of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. This art work is made up of six book shaped sculpted panels that are 5.5 feet long and 8.5 feet wide. The panels feature engraved depictions of city history during the past six decades starting with On the Edge of the Everglades and ending with Looking to the Future. Another panel was Continuing to Grow. Scenes I saw included a festival Ferris wheel, the Coral Springs Covered Bridge, a person on horseback, and a Seminole tribe member. It was fun to try and see what images you could make out in the art. I noticed that the farther you moved back, the easier it was to see individual images. Sixty years doesn't seem like very much history but in that short tine Coral Springs has grown into a thriving city. This art work is a great representation of how far they have come as they develop even more great projects for future growth.

The ArtWalk is 1300 feet long and has benches, a seating wall, native plant landscaping, and room for event tents. It serves as a place for the city to display temporary art works, some of which they will eventually purchase. This butterfly is one of my favorite public art pieces in the ArtWalk. It was commissioned by the city of Coral Springs at a cost of $97,000. Artist Amie Jacobson created a 12.5 foot tall stainless steel butterfly with cast glass set into the wings. This piece is interactive because you can stand in front of the sculpture and it looks like you have wings coming out of your back. The name of the piece is taken from the quote "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings." - A wise woman. We have a lot of butterflies in south Florida and it always gives me a little thrill to see one flitting around when I'm out in nature. I love the composition of this piece and what butterflies symbolize, a new beginning. This butterfly represents the growth and change in the city of Coral Springs. We live waking at Fern Forest. The trails are beautiful and the "treehouse" in the middle is great…read morefor events and kids to explore. It's also a great spot for photos! One thing that could be improved is the wildlife children's center needs a major deep clean. It doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned. There is so much dust everywhere and has lots of spiderwebs around the baseboards and underneath the furniture. Great spot to get a spider bite. Lots of the content and activities are old and out of date.

The best spot I have been so far for long hiking trails in the Pompano area. Easy hiking. Didn't…read moreget bit by any type bugs, spiders, mosquitoes , snakes or alligators. The Trails are clean. Nature Center is great. Perfect trails for all ages. Restrooms and refreshments available. I did the Half mile boardwalk loop trail which is very shaded, so it wasn't feeling too hot. Very tropical. Felt like it was actually misting but no rain. Lots of water under the walkway. It's a Lush forest. Then I did the 1 mile loop prairie trail plus an extra 300 yard loop trail off the prairie trail. Overall a nice forest. Check it out if you haven't been. It's free and plenty of parking was available on a Saturday. They Even had a cleaning station with a water hose and foot scrubber to clean your shoes on the way out.
