This is a new store which opened on Thursday 15th October 2020, this branch is located on Atlantic Street and replaces the branch formerly located on Davenport Lane, nearby. As you begin to enter and walk around the store, you can tell it is new, the layout is actually much nicer than many other Aldi stores, it feels modern and the selection of some items, including dairy products is pretty good. I do find the fruit and vegetable section here however to be pretty bad, compared to other Aldi stores, with many items regularly running out of stock, which is a shame. Some of the prices are good, but again there are many items which are the same price or possibly even cheaper when there's a promotional offer, at many of the nearby supermarkets, whether that's ASDA down the road, or Sainsbury's and Tesco, who both have large locations in Altrincham town centre. I did find the checkouts to be a little messy, this is common for Aldi, but I thought they could have done something different as this is a new store, again there's no self-scanning area and the checkouts just appeared to be more of a free for all than anything. I couldn't get what I came in for, but this certainly isn't a bad store when supported by the other nearby supermarkets. 3*

I like how their handheld scanners are easy to use, to scan as you shop around the store, they seem to be much newer than other Waitrose stores, making them easier to use - It would be a great idea if they fixed their app in order to support scanning on mobile phones, similar to what is on offer at ASDA and Sainsbury's. The staff in-store seemed friendly and happy to help, the product range is good, they had a wide selection of products in most areas, including a great saving on certain items including Pizza Express' gluten-free pizzas which were on offer at £2.50, considering the price is normally £4.50 at Sainsbury's and £5 on Ocado, this is a great saving. 4* - Good, modern supermarket with a decent selection of products, one of the better supermarkets in Altrincham, it is a shame it isn't closer to the town centre and the bus network isn't too reliable, I do also think the checkout areas could have been better laid out, but all in all a good store.

Tesco Extra in Altrincham is a pretty large store, it is in the town centre, with a rival…read moresupermarket nearby, a poor branch of Sainsbury's which I actually had to pass to get here. The store is really large, especially for a town centre location, it has multiple bridges going into the store, I did initially get lost working my way in and somehow ended up going in through the employee entrance, the main entrance, however, seems to be through a sheltered car-park and then up a very steep travelator or a lift. The checkout and payment system seemed to be much easier to use than other stores, while they still have the handheld devices to scan as you shop (sadly they don't have a mobile app similar to Sainsbury's and ASDA), it seemed to be a newer interface on both the tills and the scanners, which made them quicker and easier to use - it looked better too, everything was clearer which I liked. The facilities in the store are good, there is also a Vision Express opticians as well as a Tesco Mobile Shop and Cafe. The staff around the store seemed friendly and happy to help, and they did have a good selection of products. I do find their booze area could have been managed better, as well as one aisle, they seemed to have different bottles on random corners, they could have been more together, sadly I couldn't find my favourite brand of rum, Dead Man's Fingers in stock. 4* - Good store overall, getting in and out the store could be easier, especially for pedestrians. The to-go food area could also be slightly more extensive for a store of its' size, and also didn't include a coffee machine.

ASDA Altrincham is located in the Broadheath area of Altrincham, a town which has most major…read moresupermarkets including Tesco and Sainsbury's in the town centre and even a Waitrose close to this one, in comparison, I would say this is the poorer of the four stores but it is still OK. Public transportation links aren't too great from here, but it is just under a mile from Altrincham Interchange and Navigation Road Station, if you're heading here on the bus you'd get the most services from the Cheshire Cheese bus-stop which is close to Altrincham Retail Park, but there is a large car park if you're coming via car. It's still a decent store with a pretty good-sized clothing section and toiletries, I did find certain sections to be lacking, however, mainly in the fresh/fridges areas, the cupboard areas was also poor with probably the worst selection of bottled drinks I've seen in most supermarkets, they only had one flavour of ice tea, in comparison Tesco seem to sell at least 3, and Sainsbury's go one up again and have four, they weren't even out of stock, there wasn't just a place where it could have gone on the shelf. 3* - Not too bad in the Broadheath area but there are multiple better supermarkets in and around Altrincham.

While it isn't the most modern of Sainsbury's locations in terms of appearance, the store was clean, I also liked how they had bags at the entrance for those using Sainsbury's Smartshop, this is such a simple thing to do but many supermarkets seem to forget this, so I'm glad they do this here. The selection is generally pretty good in most areas including dairy, free-from, beverages and alcohol. In certain areas, I don't find the labels to be clear, especially where many items of the same/similar range are packed together, I actually struggled to find an item which was right in front of me at first, because of this. 4* - Good supermarket in Altrincham town centre, but with many good supermarkets within Altrincham it has to do more in order to compete, I think it's doing that. This store has improved so much from my visit in 2017, where I planned to never return here.
