Not because she ID'ed me and my friend (we're 26 and 27 respectively), she pretty much threw our stuff down the checkout and rolled her eyes when we brought our own bags. There was nothing we could do right with this woman. We were perfectly friendly but she couldn't be bothered. We were in a great mood (getting ready to cook dinner for friends), but she didn't even so much as look at us unless it was to glare. Not impressed. At least in Asda they say hello.

They have a variety of fresh food/produce as well as some frozen goodies. You can buy household things as well. I always come here to grocery shop because it's so close to Ealing Broadway tube, and is just a bus ride from my flat. The cashiers are always very polite and will greet you when it's your turn. I thought it was kinda weird that you had bag your own items though, we don't do that in the US. But yeah, I basically pick up everything food related here.

Fortunately it's one of the larger Metros and there are a lot of tills and a fast moving self-service till section. It has the all the usual Tesco stuff: a sandwich section by the door for lunchtimers in a hurry, a deli counter, a bakery (I recommend the walnut bread), a whole aisle of alcohol and a CD/DVD corner. They used to have a independent flower stall inside but decided the space would better serve a trolley park... They have the obligatory coffee stop, which I have never used so can't comment on. They stock all you expect to see in a Sainsburys, they have recently added a petrol station onsite which is useful as no longer will you have to drive to Purley or Bell Green to redeem the vouchers you get which makes petrol slightly more affordable. The thing to be aware of with this Sainsburys is that it is shares a site with Crystal Palace FC (come on you Eagles). So on match days the store closes early as the car park is over run with cars from supporters from both sides, they will generally close an hour or so before kick off and open back a similar time after it. They have also installed a time limit on using the car park, it's an automated system which reads you license plate as you drive in and tells you how long you can stay for free. I have no idea what happens if you stay over this...apart from some kind of fine I guess. Also on a Sunday be aware that whilst they open at 10am you cannot purchase anything before 11am.

I think one has to be well organised to get the best out of the store, mainly when checking out as counter space very limited. But with a positive attitude this can be achieved. The staff at the checkout are very friendly regardless. I find if I go off pick hours I don't have wait in a long check out queue. My main concern is good quality products at low cost and on this they are succeeding admirably.

Try not to go there on a Sunday as they have delivery day and the shop is full of cartons and boxes which block the aisles and make shopping not easy. You can reach the shop with the Central Line at Greenford Station - it is just opposite the station entrance - or with the buses 92, 105 and E6 to bus stop Greenford Station.

Not content with destroying businesses in town centres with their giant convenient one-stop out of town giant supermarkets, they're now apparently not content with that and are now vying to compete directly with small and medium shops on the high street itself. This new Sainbury's Local opened opposite my church in the last few months. The prices here are a little higher than in their superstore just down the road but it carries a good selection of goods as well as providing a cashpoint outside. The only negative is that checkout can be quite slow as quite often, only one person is manning the till. There are self-checkout machines available, which are usually faster. As a shop, it should garner 4 stars but I'm taking one off on principle. As a nation, I think we have to make a choice about whether we want our high streets to be completely dominated by the big companies. All our town centres are already to look like each other wherever you are in the country and this is only going to get worse if we don't vote our feet and the government doesn't legislate.
