Completely gone downhill.. Theres pallets of produce blocking the aisles, too many self service checkouts which are staffed anyway and empty shelves.. its utter chaos. used to be ok. Many similar comments on the FB community hub site too. I feel sorry for the staff.. it's just cost cutting gone out of control. I don't go there anymore because of this.. there many better supermarkets to choose from. read more

This is a store that is pain to get too. When you park you have to walk a fair way to the store. Neogiating the car park is quite an effort as onyl 1 or 2 zebra crossings. The clothes section is great for ladies, girls and babies, but boys and men beware it is not great. The isle are slim, the people and staff are rude. Staff reluctant to help; check out staff are rude and when we bought fireworks we waited 20 mins to be seen and the staff were rude. It is def. not a place to shop regular. It is ok for a flying visit, but the queues are long, staff are rude etc. Dont hurry there! read more

I would have rated this store a 5 but the car parks lets down the shop as it is qute far from the shop. for some strange reason they have put the entrance to the shop round the back of the shop. Apart from that the store is great! Its a big store wich also sells clothing, homeware, CD's and DVDs as well as food. There clothing is always great quality at a great price. It has everything you need under one roof with low prices. read more

The carpark is a long way from the shop entrance but this is not a major problem as there are walk ways between parked cars. There is a large clothing department that is always worth a look round but the choice and quality is not as good as Sainsburys and Tesco. The fruit and vegetable department is rather small with limited choice unfortunately you can not always get what you want. There is the usual takeaway counter, pizza, cheese etc. the staff here are usually cheery and helpful. I find the range of product in Asda slightly lacking and as this is one of the small supermarkets in Chelmsford it is hard to do a weekly shop in it if you are use to Sainsburys or Tesco. The is no longer a cafe in this shop they replaced it with a entertainment department which is a shame. There is a homeware aisle selling bedding, crockery but not a lot more. The petrol station is self serve and pay only with no member of staff on site so seems very unsafe I certainly would not use it at night. The store is open 24 hours but does not feel safe at night especially with the long walk to the shop front. There are better places to go in the area read more

Although not a massive fan of Asda, this store is not bad at all. It is a good size and has a good amount of space between the aisles - a particular bugbear of mine! There is a very good sized clothing area with a good selection of woman's and children's clothing, shoes and jewellery. The men's selection for some reason is smaller and therefore not as good. I do like their pizza counter where you can have your pizza made to order. There are also all the other counters you would normally find in a supermarket such as a delicatessen and meat counter. Outside is a large car park although is not very well lit and a petrol station. The petrol station is self service though. One good aspect of this is that it is always far less busy than some of the other supermarket petrol stations and you don't have to queue for ages. read more

Feel sorry for disabled people and mothers with babies because the store is miles away from the carpark! The entrance is very narrow and you are often bashed by people coming out when you try and enter the store. There are not enough smaller trolleys available so you have to use a larger trolley which can be annoying if you do not want too much stuff. The goods in Asda are always reasonably priced overall though I find the special offers are not very plentiful. The meat counter is very good, a lot of products on offer and clearly priced. The clothes are very good quality, partiularly having a good range of ladies underwear at a good price. The bakery is not to big for the size of the store and you don't know how long the products have been hanging around. The staff are friendly and the queues are not usually that bad. read more

A medium size supermarket based in the middle of Chelmer Village. Has a large carpark with child and disabled spaces. This store offers a wide selection of clothing, DVD/CD's, food and a small selection of homeware. I find the prices competitive and can usually get all I need in one shop. Has a lovely pizza counter where they make to order. Also a bakery, hot chicken, chinese and indian meal counters. petrol station at the front of the carpark. read more
