Dropped our Ollie Bean off at Ashcroft Pet Resort for doggie daycare in Timnath to play with new friends today. (We usually go to the K9 Learning Center in No FoCo but since I wasn't working and just chillin with my momma in Severence, I figured, why not try them out? ) BAD IDEA! 9:40am-I dropped her off for an "intake evaluation"- wasn't sure what that meant but, Okay. They had me put her in a kennel with rock flooring up front outside while I went in to check in at the front office which felt strange. I didn't get say good bye because I thought we were coming back out with the trainer for a meet and greet. I saw through the window that a woman was taking her away and they didn't even pet, squish or snuggle her for a greeting, just shooed her down a walk way. Needless to say I was a sad momma at that very moment but figured she was going to have a blast so I sucked it up but told my mom later about how I'm so glad I don't have to leave my human baby in a daycare because that was hard enough. At the k9 Learning Center you kiss them goodbye and they go with their new friends right away and you can see them having fun before you take off. I normally have my phone on silent but kept it on all day in case they called for any reason. Ollie gets along with all the dogs at school so I wasn't worried about her getting into a fight but, just in case they needed me to get her early I'd be there. She was so excited to be "going to school with friends" that she didn't even eat breakfast this morning. Well.... 5:15 pm rolls around and I get a call from one pissed off daddy. Will picked her up and was livid when they "regretted to inform him that she failed her intake eval" meaning she had been in a kennel hungry and by her lonesome all day because she was too much of a Pitt bull in the face. Actually she's a Scott's American Bull Dog, ask her PROFESSIONAL dog trainer and read up on your different bully breeds people. That's what they look like and their temperament is completely different than a terrier.... plus she's 65# + and huge, not a short stacked pittie. And regardless who the F- cares anyway. Nowhere in there terms/agreements or anywhere on the website does it say they discriminate against Pitt bulls. If anyone can show me where it does, I would like to see that. And even if it does they could have told me their assumptions BEFORE I LEFT. They didn't even call me to tell me she wasn't aloud to play all day. I was freakin available! I took her there just to get interaction with other dogs because she's been stir crazy, not to be boarded. Yes, she's spoiled and rightfully so. She truly had a rough start to life. Back to the story though, I called at 5:20pm to figure out what the heck happened and was put on hold to talk to a trainer for almost 10 mins. The kid who put me on hold because he had no clue what to say initially came back on and said he spoke with the owner, the trainer, and a front desk employee and "she failed the intake for group play (due to her breed, which had nothing to do with her interaction with other dogs) but we would love to have Olive back for an overnight boarding or one on one day stay" for buku bucks. I don't freaking think so. Just read some reviews and wish I would have done my homework before taking her in there. Why would I leave my dog overnight somewhere unsupervised with no video surveillance that has a history or losing dogs when I WORK AT A VET AND TOLD THEM SO! Not pleased in the least. K9 Learning Center it is, all day every day from here on out. It's worth the extra hour drive time from Windsor for her to have fun and be safe. They don't even make her have "nap time" because she is such a puppy and just needs to play and be goofy all day. I'll recommend them to everyone! read more

Negative 5 stars. This place is awful!! The owner is a world class liar. She can't help herself. She'll look you in the eye and tell you something happened when BOTH of you know it didn't. She's a money hungry, careless and heartless person. There are no cameras and the dogs are left unattended for 12 hour periods of time. No cameras, no staff, no audio.. no way.. the only good thing about this place is the staff (OTHER THAN THE OWNER) is great. Multiple staff have told us she trains them to lie and apparently they are overworked to exhaustion with no benefits and no appreciation. GO ANYWHERE ELSE if you care one bit about your furry family member. read more

Our very favorite Pet Resort and grooming facilities!! We tried a few and our dog was NOT HAPPY .... would pull us back to the car as we approached. Ashcroft is amazing! She literally runs up to the door and when her groomer comes out to meet her she jumps for kisses in the face! She is an Australian Sheperd with lots of hair! We've been using Ashcroft for daycare and boarding for both of our dogs since we moved out to Timnath in 2014. I understand that the original owner recently sold the business after 25 years and the new owner is working hard to improve the already great experience. They have added various "Spaw" offerings to enhance the exit baths offered previously, and are building a dedicated indoor play area for daycare dogs. The facility is convenient to I-25 and communities east of Fort Collins. The customer-facing area is spotless and the team is friendly, warm, and always accommodating. We have used them dozens of times and are excited that they continue to expand their facility and services. I would recommend Ashcroft without hesitation. read more

Can't say enough nice things about this place! My very skittish rescue dog is a Shiba Inu. Because her coat is so thick it is recommended that they be bathed and shredded out professionally. We were dealing with loads of hair all over our house. I brought her here and the staff was amazing. It was the best experience I've had with her. They were able to get ALL the loose hair and she stayed relatively she'd free for 3 months!!!! She smelled amazing and was happy (not scared)when I picked her up. Very professional and I loved their drop off and pick up system. I'll be back every time she needs a bath and furminator treatment. read more

New ownership turning kennel into a k9 overnight spa manipulating hours on weekends to guarantee charges for 3 nights minimum for your overnight excursion. $28/night now and current policy to ensure charges for 3 night minimum for weekend has turned off many of our long term friends from using them including ourselves. We've continued to use them despite our reservations of new owners revamping of business into what we believe to resemble a high end corporate doggy day spa and kennel purely due to convenience. We've been grateful that our dog has been healthy into old age and has not had significant health problems, thus minimizing health costs. Over the years boarding has been our single greatest expense for our dog and knowing what ashcroft has turned into has disheartened us greatly. read more

I've never seen a business run with such passion and dedication as Ashcroft - the management has very high standards for their staff and are always checking in with us after we bring Lewie in to make sure all our concerns and needs are met. Our Beloved family pet, Rocco loved to stay at Ashcroft when we were out of town. He was a very healthy 8 year old but between a new strain of kennel cough, recent Colorado wildfires/smoke and a possible underlying unknown heart issue, he passed away suddenly in his sleep one afternoon. We were/are completely heartbroken. We spoke with the owner, Linda, and she was so very professional and kind. The entire staff at Ashcroft signed a beautiful card and sent it to our family -- thank you, Linda, Karlie, Kamryn, Caylin, Nicole, Christie, Kristin, Amanda, Allie, Tess & Rahn. I took my dogs there a few times but every time I picked them up, there was always extra food left, and there shouldn't have been. So this last time I picked them up at 10:30 in the morning and I simply asked if they had been fed, the manager said yes, so then in comes a kid and said NO, they had not been fed! So because I asked a simple question, the horrible manager said I couldn't bring them back!! Absolutely the worst place!!! Don't take your beloved pets there if you care about them!! We boarded our puppy here over the Thanksgiving break. I would definitely go back as I have no complaints. The staff was easy to work with and friendly. They were willing to accommodate our slightly late plane arrival and didn't charge us any extra/make us board our dog one extra night. After reading Patty S's review, I felt I had to tell you what happened last Fri when we went to pick up our dogs. They gave me a bottle of remaining meds for our Cookie. I told them we didn't leave any meds for Cookie. They insisted the meds were ours. I looked at the bottle and was a different owners name for another dog named Cookie! Now I'm wondering if they gave the meds to our dog and the other Cookie went without proper meds. We will not be returning. read more

After needing to find groomer for our 2 dogs, we decided to give Ashcroft Kennels a try. The facility was clean, the staff was friendly, and the groomer asked several questions to understand the results we wanted from the grooming. When we arrived to pick up our dogs after the initial visit, we were very happy with the quality of the grooming. We knew then, that we would continue to use the grooming services at Ashcroft Kennels, and have taken our dogs back for a second visit. The cost for the grooming is appropriate, and we feel like a great value for the quality end product. But most important of all, our dogs were treated well during their grooming visits. We would highly recommend Ashcroft Kennels for grooming services to anyone looking for a great experience for their pet. read more

As a former Pet Resort owner from another state in which we resided, we came to Colorado about 1 year ago to find a well kept, well managed Pet Resort. Our standards obviosuly high for our 3 dogs and a former owner/manager myself. I have found Ashcroft to be that ideal place for all the service needs for our 3 "hairy" family members. We are new to town and used Ashcroft Kennels for the first time to board our 3 year old lab this last weekend. I've read good reviews on Ashcroft and think they are a respectable establishment, they also were able to accommodate us on short notice (called the morning of). Our pup is extremely friendly, docile, and loving; however, he is not neutered (he's AKC, comes from a great line, and we want to breed him once to keep one of his pups) which means he wasn't able to interact with groups. This was disappointing to us as the kennel we used in Denver allowed our dog to play without restriction based of his temperament. I don't think that it is unreasonable to place restrictions on non-neutered dogs I just wished that they would have had some other alternatives - like restricting the group that the dog is allowed to play with (e.g. male dogs only) as opposed to cutting off all interaction. Our dog is very social and I think he suffered as a result. When we asked if he was able to interact at all with other dogs we were told "yes, he interacted with other dogs through the fence." The first thing that I noticed when picking him up was that he was extremely hoarse - I am left to assume that he barked for most of the weekend. One last thing ... before dropping him off I inquired about their 3 days of free day care for new customers. I asked explicitly if the promotion could be used in conjunction with the boarding (as we would be picking our dog up later in the day and would incur a days fee for day-care as per Ashcroft policies); I was told that we could. Upon picking up our dog we were told that actually the owner said that we could not use the promotion for the day-care charge on the last day. It wasn't very expensive, but it left me with a sour taste in my mouth to be told something upfront and then not have that honored. While it is understandable that the person working the office was misinformed it just seems like bad business to go back on your word after you've provided the service. Our interaction on the last day seemed a bit condescending with the tone in which they referred to him being non neutered (I get it - there can be a bit of a stigma with this), and not honoring the promotion as originally communicated to us. I am sure that many will find Ashcroft kennels to be a great place, but for us it wasn't the best experience and we will not return. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but had to this time. Many recent improvements here. I'm very impressed with the facility and cannot say enough good things about the environment, the staff, and the high standards that I see to be maintained here. We've used both boarding and daycare services, and also just found out they offer full-service grooming - very convenient. I love their activity packages that keep our pup engaged. She is comfortable here and always comes home tired and happy! Such a good feeling to know and trust she is in a great place with loving and caring people. read more

We have been using Ashcroft for 15 years for boarding and since the original owners sold the business it has not been the same. The quality of care isn't there and they seem to be more interested in the "Spaw" options, doggie play dates and tips than the care of the dogs. We were not informed of a price increase since April when we made our reservation and we just returned on Wednesday after being gone a week and our dog came home with a bad eye infection (conjunctivitis) which we were not notified of at all, including when we picked him up. When I called them after we made a veterinarian appointment for Thursday, we were told they had just noticed it on Wednesday morning, but decided not to say anything and let us decide what we wanted to do about it since we were coming to pick our dog up that day. Likely story!!! Needless to say we will not be taking our dog there again and since I have read a review of kennel cough from Ashcroft which our Vet said this might possibly turn into, even through our dog had his Bordetella injection for this year. UPDATE: Talked with Robin, the owner and she apologized for the staff not informing us of the eye infection and was glad to get my feedback as to discrepancies in not informing us of price increases, checking for Bordetella vaccination, etc. She is working with her staff regarding customer service training and was very forthright in refunding our dogs stay. All in all, hoping things will now be improved at Ashcroft Pet Resort. read more

I just wanted to drop a review for how happy we've been with Ashcroft. Our large Samoyed (~75#) has been going to daycare there, almost daily, for over a year, and is still pulling at the leash to go play with the other dogs, and hang with the staff. You can tell that everyone that works there really loves dogs, and the dogs seem to know it. We've also boarded him a number of times, and while a little tired, he is always in good spirits when we pick him up. In fact he is just as excited to go back the next day for daycare. read more

I can say this was my favorite/only kennel until it was sold. Not knowing this, I boarded my dog and when he got home, he was stressed, lethargic, and not his happy self. Food bowls were sent home unwashed, his bed ripped apart (NEVER had my dog chewed anything but his allowed bones/treats). I just thought it was a one off, but called to talk to the owner, and then found out she no longer owned it....hmmm The next time I took my dog, he was definitely not wanting to go into the kennel, grabbing his leash and pulling with all his might, to 'take him home'. He was taught to gently grab his leash and 'take me home ' at the end of our walks, something I have taught all my German Shepards. This was so sad, strange, and disheartening, but again I just shook it off as a one off, but inquired inside if something happened the previous time. Of course a big NO. Bothered by his actions upon arrival and pick up, I had my husband come the next time to witness his behavior. This was December, and I had my husband take him to the holding kennel, and he was dragged towards our car as well. HE got to witness it and agreed it was excessive behavior by our very well trained, socialized, loving, confident dog! When we picked him up, he was stressed, not his usual self, but glad as heck when he got to jump out of our car when we arrived home! This time they had rinsed his containers, but again he ripped up his bed. With hesitation, I again chose to use this kennel. I was crying after I left him. He pulled,and pulled but i got him in. He cried, barked, jumped, he did not want me to leave I almost canceled my plans but it was just not feasible! I had used this kennel for over 15 years, with my previous dogs, so I had grown accustomed to its location, hours and usual good experiences there with the original owner. I wanted to try to stay with it. Okay, I pick him up yesterday, he looked shabby, tired, mildly excited to see me. Again his bed was torn up, his food containers not washed, and the woman waiting on me was as unfriendly as she usually is. No comments on his stay, how he did, just how much I owed. Again, hmmm. We get home and he is coughing, choking, trying to vomit. This is constant for 2 hours. I Google his symptoms and he either has a damaged trachea or kennel cough. I call the kennel and talk to the lady that checked me out, and no, they do not use a leash so no trachea problem. I tell her about his symptoms, agrees it sounds like Kennel Cough and I should call my vet! I asked ' then did YOU see these symptoms while he was there?,' well of course not. I said that seems nearly impossible to me as he does it every 10 minutes! It is phlegm he is choking on I find out ! I get off the phone, run to the vet and of course he has Kennel Cough! He is on 2 medications to ease his symptoms. Thank goodness he was a big, healthy and well groomed animal when he went in! We are beyond upset by all of this and we decide to leave a message for the owner to call us today, and she did. I will give her credit for sounding concerned, but could not answer why empty containers are not at least rinsed, but instead says not many people send 'prepared food' that needs refrigeration I have been sending food this way for 15 years, and surely they have a file on us/him! Asked why my dog could be so fearful of going there now, answered 'surely it cannot be any thing that he has experienced there' , hmmm, dogs NEVER forget a bad experience at a place. At this point, I feel so guilty for leaving him and not heeding his pleas, I try not to imagine what it could be. She suggests we take him to another kennel to see if he has the same reaction. Well, if you are taking the time to read this, you are an owner that cares about and understands their dog, and now, no matter what kennel we choose, he is going to be fearful of that chain link! Ugh.! And about him contracting Kennel Cough there, of course there is no way to confirm that, she tells us. Well actually there IS! I live in the country, my dog has NO CONTACT with other dogs. I have not taken him for a walk in 6 weeks due to a foot injury, so there is no possible, even remote way, that he got it from our acre lot with no other dogs in our yard. She said we are the only customers that have called, but our concern is how many other dogs got it or are going to get it. We asked if she was going to close the kennel to sanitize and kill the germs. She says they rotate kennels, and spray down one set, to keep things like this from happening. We will be following up on this. This post is in no way meant to cause harm to this business, it is solely being done to HONESTLY express what THIS loving, caring dog owner, along with my dog, has experienced. HORRIBLE place under new ownership. We have previously left our dogs with the old owners and they always came back happy and healthy with the staff always smiling when we were there. This time we left them with the new owners and it was awful. The staff was rude and you can tell now they are in it for the money. When we picked our dogs up we were told they had been throwing up all week and next time we should bring our own food (previous owners provided high quality food and expected you would use their food). We saw our dogs and you could see the ribs and hip bones of our larger dog. He was super sad and didn't want much to do with us not to mention he smelled horrible even for a kennel. Our smaller dog also lost quite a bit of weight and has slept for literally several hours with her tail between her legs since she got home. The rates have increased and the staff cares less about your dog. read more

They are so amazing! They were recommended by a good friend and she is a vet and they have been so wonderful. I am leaving for a trip at the end of the month for a week and needed to find somewhere that was not only clean but awesome staff. So when I came in to get a feel of the place the manager was amazing she actually gave me a walk through so that I would know where the dogs would be staying and everything. Everything was so clean so that was one less worry for me. The manager offered me a few days of free doggy day care so that the dogs ( my two beasts) could get used to it being they have never stayed with anyone or away from me. The first day was def hard and different for my older pup but the second time they went they were exhausted and had the time of their lives! The third time I left them for day care they were exhausted from such a fun day but one of the guys that worked there was saying bye to them and was showing me pictures of their awesome day full of other really cool dogs and playing in pools. That there was the point I knew I went the the right spot! These people are awesome! read more
