Bigger stores often don't stock C&R firearms, or won't let you inspect them to your satisfaction, or sometimes are even rude in their customer service, but by far, my experience at Horse Shoe Firearms has been extremely pleasant and has led me to purchase some great finds! The resident collector and salesman at the store is very knowledgeable and we often compare our recent acquisitions. One of my favorite past-times is coming in and having an academic discussion about WW2 Arisaka Bolt Action rifles with Colt here at the store, and it's nice to actually see and hold different examples he has come across available in the store. Their store is small, but they have a vast array of firearms and ammunition from modern to antique. If they don't have it, they can definitely get it for you, and their customer service in selecting products is second-to-none. They were quick to respond by text, saying they were able to sharpen the machete that day. They're located smack downtown in Asheville on a side street (Eagle St) just off Biltmore Avenue. Parking was tight, but I was able to pop in, greeted by two very affable, friendly and welcoming employees (I assume they were owners, since they were so willing to take care of my job). The gentleman with whom I had been texting told me he'd have it ready in about 30 minutes and suggested I grab a cup of coffee and come back. The job was done excellently, and the young woman at the counter checked me out in no time. I live in Greensboro, about 2.5 hours from Asheville, and I had been unable to find any hardware store or other business who could take on the job, so this was a great place to get the job done (I was going to be in Asheville anyway, so I didn't make the trip just to get the machete sharpened). I enthusiastically recommend this local business. They have a very upscale operation and know how to take care of customers, plus they know their knives!

Just back from a half-day fly fishing. As a novice I was hoping to actually catch a fish on a fly…read morerod. I was also hoping to improve on technique. I've had multiple lessons and trips but none exceeded my expectations as much as today's trip. Weather was forecast to be hot which I love, but later learned the fish like it on the cool side. My guide was amazingly helpful in answering all the big and small questions. His help with my cast was also great as he actually took the time to show me how to make corrections in my cast (4 previous guide trips in other states did not). The location was remote and the beauty impressive. My guide, Forest, was extremely versed in the stream and we hit more than a few spots and actually got a winner of a rainbow as well as brook n brown to round out the species. I highly recommend. Well worth the fee. Can't wait for my next visit for a repeat adventure !
