Ashley is very professional and really fun to work with; we really liked her on a personal level! But most importantly, her photos are amazing and has the coolest effects that we could never have figured out how to do on our own. As part of our package, we got an additional photo shoot (e.g. engagement photos), and as soon as we saw those photos, we knew that we had picked very well. The colors were so vibrant and the settings were creative (and not boring). She also helped us with our poses; we are not natural models. Ashley is really good at instructing women on how to hold themselves so that the pictures will come out best, such as not squishing our arms against our bodies, which makes our upper arms look larger. I still try to remember her techniques! On our wedding day, Ashley kept the wedding party on time, which wasn't easy. Despite being pregnant (her due date was in two weeks) she maintained her professionalism and physical flexibility, even when confronted with unexpected circumstances. We had many guests and relatives requesting photo ops and a persistent threat of thunder showers during our outdoor, pre-ceremony photo shoot. Ashley seemed to have a plan and back-up plan for everything, which was likely gleaned from her vast experience and expertise. She has an eye for creativity and a unique vision for finding the perfect lighting or angle in every moment. During our wedding, we were amazed by Ashley's ability to both blend into the room and take command of the situation when necessary. She exudes the quiet confidence required to keep your guests and relatives from distracting from wedding pictures or attempting to control the staging of the pictures (yes, we have some difficult relatives, and Ashley handled them respectfully and firmly). Because we had already set up a list of must-have photos (e.g. with particular relatives), she politely removed uninvited friends and relatives from photos that they were not supposed to be in. Later in the evening, she got fantastic candid shots of our friends dancing. Since she took multiple photos of all our (100+ guests), we sent pictures of our guests to them as part of our thank you notes, which our guests loved. We debated whether to get a wedding album (additional) and are so glad that we did because it is so nice to have a compilation of our favorite photographs and memories of us with our family and friends. I found Ashley on WeddingWire.com, and my fiance (now husband - yay!) and I were immediately impressed with her gorgeous photographs and creative & fun style. Before we met with her, we already knew we would be booking her for our wedding on the Eastern Shore! The initial meeting was very easy - she came down to Bethesda (where we live) from Baltimore, on an evening that was convenient for us. As soon as we met with her, she sent us a link with all of her information (pricing, extras, ordering prints and albums, etc.), which I was easily able to share with my fiance and our wedding planner. Emailing with her throughout the planning process was a breeze - Ashley was very responsive. The timing of our wedding was different than her packages, so she worked with us to figure out the best plan. We were able to make payments online - VERY convenient! The final step of our planning was an online questionnaire, with questions ranging from the timing of my hair appointment to specific shots we'd like taken (the bridal party "jump shot," 3 generations of women in our family, etc.) On the day of our wedding, Ashley and her assistant arrived early (before me!) to scope out the country club. Between Ashley and our wedding planner, we got all of the pre-ceremony shots taken without my fiance and I seeing each other. Though it was 90 degrees and sunny, Ashley and her assistant remained cheerful, friendly, and (yes) assertive throughout all of the post-ceremony outdoor photos (you try getting 30 sweaty people to cooperate and look fabulous!) During the reception, they were unobtrusive - never in the way or reminding us to smile - we were allowed to be very natural, and she captured us at our happiest. My husband and I ABSOLUTELY recommend Ashley to any other couple getting married in the D.C./Baltimore/Eastern Shore area. When it came time for me to find a wedding photographer, my wedding planner selected three photographers for me to interview. Each of the three photographers were friendly, professional and talented...but there was something about Ashley's body of work that stood above the rest. Not only did her work have an artistic viewpoint, but she captured moments...something that was very important to me. I could not be happier with my wedding photos! Ashley is an amazing photographer and I would highly recommend her to anyone. I met with a lot of photographers before choosing Ashley and what really set her apart was her obvious dedication to her work and clear passion for her art. I liked the fact that she didn't see a need for a second shooter because she had a clear vision of how she wanted to capture the day. Her night-time photos were also amazing. My wedding day was the first time I ever had professional photos taken and Ashley made me feel really comfortable the entire time. Once the reception started, it was as if she disappeared but was still capturing great moments for hours. I am also really excited that she is going to pre-select photos for my album - not many photographers do that and I have a lot of friends that have had to spend many, many hours sifting through hundreds of pics, trying to figure out the best way to get them order to tell the story. All of the photos are posted online so it makes it easy to share and order prints if you need them. You also get a thumb drive (which looks great btw) with high res images and Facebook-ready photos. We booked Ashley for our wedding portrait session at Brookside Gardens, and we had the most wonderful experience working with her. From the very beginning she was friendly, prompt to respond to messages, super organized, and easy to work with. As soon as we arrived for the photo session she made us feel completely comfortable and at ease; I felt like I had known her for a long time. She captured all of the moments that we had wanted and more; over the course of two hours we shot in multiple locations, and she was comfortable coaching us in terms of poses that would look good while also allowing us to feel natural and totally at ease. As we moved around the garden Ashley was great at finding creative locations and unique angles. The pictures were delivered extremely quickly (faster than the two week timeline she had initially suggested) and turned out amazingly beautiful and romantic. She really understood what we were going for aesthetically and captured the warm, beautiful glow of a summer's day perfectly. Ashley was the easiest decision to make for our wedding. She had done a secret photo shoot when my then-boyfriend (now husband) was coming home from Afghanistan and she captured our reunion at the airport without me ever knowing. Those pictures still move me to tears, over a year later. When I finally met Ashley, I loved her instantly. Her personality is light and fun. Having a camera in your face can be awkward and unnatural, but Ashley made us laugh and relax - our engagement pictures came out great! Of course, for our wedding, we had to have her. I would absolutely refer Ashley Michele Photography to everyone. She did an outstanding job as far as meeting me at the location prior to the wedding to scope out the place to see where some great areas for the pictures would be. She always got back to me in a timely fashion, she is affordable. The day of the wedding she didn't stop taking pictures , candid , posing , formal , funny, cute , sincere , emotional and joyful you name it it was captured in the 300 plus pictures she took. Ashley is nothing short of amazing! If you want normal everyday blah photos then pick someone else. I do not have words for how amazing our wedding photos turned out!! Our wedding day had a lot of changes and last minute changes and horrible weather. Ashley was able to still find the perfect shots. Ashley is a fantastic photographer. She made us look absolutely fabulous in all of our pictures - the pictures are beyond anything I could have dreamed of!
