They get commission. They tell you "you'll be taken care of" once they get your money they don't care about you & pass the buck to corporate. They use a third party to deliver. My issue was i ordered by phone after looking on line and paid for delivery. Its cheaper online. The deivery guys seemed to be in a hurry but had nothing to deliver that day. I didn't get to look the recliner over very well and felt pressured. They left after being here not even 10 min & I noticed the furniture wasn't going to match. I called instantly, they could've only been 5 Miles away, but was told they couldn't turn around. I called the store they were of no help. I had to call the main number again & they told me no refunds. They issued me a credit so I hope the chair I get matches. They're not charging me for anything extra to deliver. Prices seem reasonable. Order online and get a better deal. You can have them wait outside then refuse the order so you get a refund. Dont sign anything or be pressured. If you like it then that's great. This recliner is awesome but my experience was not. Great price too. Its ashame the altoona store lies to their customers. If you have trouble getting refunded report it to the attorney generals office. Their products aren't made in USA I was told they were and found a tag saying product of Vietnam. I called the store and got hung up on by a salesman. They are our 1st source of communication and they lie. read more

The couch/queen bed was holded together with staples. Broke down within a year! They send someone to fix it broke down again to the other side. I am 180lbs, my wife 140lbs....They said they can't send anymore the technician. Pay a little bit more and buy somewhere else. It's not worth it. I feel compelled to write another review of how horrible Ashley Furniture in Altoona, Pa, at Logan Town Center, has been to us. First it was the absolutely unprofessionel, wreckless, ignorant, and careless THREE DELIVERIES by their furniture movers, which after three times spread out over weeks, they still did not get it right. All we ever got when we called over and over was "Oh, I'm so sorry!" Now, for quite some time, it has been the incessant LYING from their refund department. Lies, lies, lies. When this company calls, they tell us each time that the refund for returned furniture is "on the way." One person says it will be deposited in our bank account, another says we will receive a check. Their financing bank, TD Bank, also lies. "You will receive a check within the next few days." This was just another lie. Every employee that we dealt with was lying. No one at Ashley will help us. They owe us over $400.00. It is obvious that their strategy is just to keep customers lied to, and eventually, they hope, people will tire of fighting to get their money back. Friends, save yourself a nightmare. Do NOT shop at this business. Ashley Furniture is a sleazebag, lying operation. It is shameful. read more

We bought a dining room table and chairs with the extra insurance in less than one year the finish started chipping off in chunks we called and said that it must be a finish problem and without coming to see it we was told it's our fault. So after many many calls and complaining we finally got someone to come and look at it they came and used a marker and colored the big chip marks I was amazed how bad it was and the fact that they tried to fix like this. It ended because I just don't want to deal with them anymore you shouldn't buy anything from them it's all junk from my point of view and no one will stand behind what they sell we have our old table that's 8 years old and it's finish looks great and the one we bought from them is junk in less than one year. We looked all over for new couches for our living room. We narrowed it down between the set at Ashley and a set at Fiore. The Ashley representative cut us a nice deal and delivery date so we chose them. Well we ordered our furniture June 30th with deliver by date of August 5th and still don't have our set!! The week of August 5th they called to tell us the set was back ordered and were set up for August 15th. We received a call to confirm delivery of just the loveseat on the 13th. We called and started we wanted all pieces delivered at one time. We were told we picked a popular couch and it would be another week or two. We are now set up for tomorrow.. This store has a wide selection of furniture for all personality types. Other stores around State College/Altoona tend to offer furniture that appeals more towards an older generation. But, Ashley not only has some of that stuff, but also items that appeal to other tastes such as modern, contemporary, etc. Their prices also tend to be cheaper than most other furniture stores in the area and the quality seems good. read more

Sold me a broken piece of furniture won't stand by it or offer any help other than repairs that keep failing

If I could give zero stars I would! Purchased furniture from them in 2009. Got talking into the ultra shield warranty, since they offered that if it wasn't used after 5 years I could get credit. Well, the furniture is CRAP quality, and the customer service STINKS! The double recliner broke after a year but fixing it (even with the warranty) would have been almost as much as buying a new couch! The recliner chair never worked right, but the company would not replace it! So I just dealt with it, and waited until the 5 years was up to get the credit on the stupid useless and expensive warranty! Went into today to get the credit and was told they no longer honor the credit since they changed ownership (same name, same location, same store!). DON'T BUY THEIR CRAP FURNITURE and if you do, definitely do not let them LIE to you about the extended plans! Shame, shame, shame.... They now are owned by a company called Wellsville Carpet Town and are manged by someone named KAthy Gates. read more

Possibly the worst shopping experience in the history of shopping experiences! We were sold an adjustable mattress set that was incompatible with the bed set we purchased. The manager Greg assured us that the "clearance" mattress would fit with our purchase. The delivery guys were shocked when they arrived to set it up because they knew the wood slats would never support the mattress weight! Several calls to Greg at the Altoona store have gone unreturned one month into this nightmare of an experience. But wait there's more!! We also purchased a fireplace to warm our brand new bedroom addition. We instead received a tv stand. We don't even watch tv and now we gonna be cold in our bedroom this winter! I can only laugh right now. Otherwise I would cry and fly into a fit of rage. But wait there's more! Only one of the adjustable mattresses actually works! The other side does not function at all. It must be a managers special "non adjustable adjustable mattress" I'm guessing! So... $5000 and some odd dollars later we have a bed that we can't sleep on and a tv stand we didn't order. read more

I bought a new bed from them. I was originally pleased with it then shortly after I noticed that the was a depression in the centre of the mattress. I went back to the store and they told me to schedule an appointment with one of their technicians. When the technician was done with the measurements I was told that there was already a one inch depression and that this should not have happened after just two weeks and that it was defective. I was also told that the store would not do anything to replace it since the depression was not one and a half inches and that they would give me hard time about it. When I received the follow up call I was told that it was not defective. So I asked does this mean that all of your products are defective? The only answer I got was silence. So of course I reported it to the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau did respond but the answer that I received was the same as what Ashley HomeStore said. So I am stuck with a defective mattress. This store really does have a you bought it so it's yours policy. I should have taken heed to the negative reviews for this place. They will never get another penny from me. I still need to replace more furniture so I will just have to find a furniture store that doesn't take the money and run. Update. I had also bought an adjustable bed frame when I bought the mattress and 6 months later the motor stopped working. The paper that I was given states that I have a 5 year warranty then when I spoke with them about the motor not working I was told that there is only a 1 year warranty. They actually sent a replacement motor but I think that it was a refurbished motor it definitely doesn't work as well as. In all I had bought 5 pieces of furniture from them and the cheapest one that I bought was the only one that I didn't have any problem with. read more

Worst experience of my life. Buying a house/car were easier! We had a great time in the store with Mike C, he was a great sales person! We ordered furniture on June 2nd, a few days later, called the scheduler and she said the kids bean bag like chairs were on backorder, so we decided ourselves to get everything delivered on July 21st. About halfway through, we reached out to them and asked if everything was still good for delivery. Said yes, but that we had a credit on our account and some things were discontinued. Had to talk to three different people as no one could tell us all the details, we had to piece everything together. Two kid chairs and our recliner got discontinued and no one called us to let us know. Store gift card or small check was their 'compensation'. So we went back to the store, demanded a nicer recliner without being charged extra (We used the credit for our recliner PLUS the two kid bean bag like chairs, so it wasn't all that much). Then, they still made us pay extra for the warranty. So, our bill went up. After that, we confirmed THREE times with the scheduler that our furniture was to be delivered July 21st. It was confirmed each time. So, we got all of our old furniture hauled away July 19th with our trash. Thursday afternoon we get a phone call that our whole order wasn't being delivered. No end tables, no table lamps and a part of our couch weren't coming. The 'sales manager' tried to make it sound like she was doing us a favor that they were making sure we got new furniture. I may have to update this review after delivery because if there's another issue, there will be more problems. The best they can ever do is a small discount from our order or a gift card for a future trip. We will never EVER shop there again and I will do my best to make sure these reviews get out there. This experience has been a stressful nightmare that I wouldn't want anyone to ever have to go through just for furniture. read more

My husband and I went with Ashley for a sectional, thinking it was a good decision for high quality furniture. We were never so wrong and I wasted my money. After just 1 year, one side was creaking and lower than the other side. They had me schedule with a third party company "technician" (which is a sad name for someone who no shows on 2 appointments and rigs your furniture only making it worse in the long run). When the technician opened up the couch I was disgusted with how the furniture was made and put together. If you have an Ashley piece, just check it out-junk wood and pieces. The tech "rigged" the broken piece, claiming he didn't have enough time or materials to adequately fix it. He said it needed totally rebuilt. I sent emails, made phone calls...expressing my dissatisfaction and do you think I ever even got an apology? No. They said "we will do this ONE time courtesy and replace that part of the couch. It will take several weeks to come in." This was all I got after all the crap we had been through. Here it is a month and a half later and still NO COUCH. I wish they would just take it back. I have NEVER been so disgusted with such a terrible quality and lack of customer service in my entire life. I should've went to Wolf's and spent double for amazing quality. read more

I am very unhappy with Ashley HomeStore and would not recommend them to anyone. I ordered myself a new mattress and my daughter a whole new bedroom set, including a new mattress, as a Christmas present. I was assured I would receive everything well in time for Christmas. Ashley called and set up the delivery for Christmas Eve. They called back and said they needed to reschedule and changed it to New Year's Eve. I was very unhappy as this was my child's big Christmas present and since it was costing a good bit, she did not get a whole lot of other things. They then called and said only my mattress was coming and my daughters furniture would not be coming. They said it would be delivered on Jan 14. On New Year's Eve, both mattresses were actually delivered, but no other furniture. I am not sure what I was suppose to do with a mattress and box springs with no bed. On Jan 10, Ashley called and said only half her furniture would be delivered on Jan 14. Later in the week they again called and said nothing would be coming on January 14 and they again changed the date to February 9. It will be over 2 months after I ordered the furniture, which was a Christmas present and I still may or may not have it. When I asked about just returning it, I was told I would have to pay a 12% restocking fee. Restocking fee? If it was taken out of stock wouldn't I have it? I can tell you this is the last time I ever purchase anything from this company and I will make sure I tell everyone I know about how this company works and post it on every social media site I belong to if this store does not make this right. And taking $75 off my bill does not compensate for the fact my daughter still does not have her Christmas present!!! Awful once you receive the furniture. John the manager was great when we purchased the table. We expressed concern that the last piece of furniture we ordered from another furniture store came in a box and was defective when we opened it at home. Well the same thing happened here and it is clear they do not inspect the furniture before they ship it from the factory. When we called to complain we were transferred to another office in New York where we were offered 50.00 to keep the table. We declined the offer and were then offered 100.00 to keep the table. We were then told this is the most they would offer. How can we tell? They offered less the first time and then upped the offer. I suggested that they should replace the table which they agreed to. The catch is I needed to get the defective table back to them unharmed. This puts all the risk on us when they caused the problem. There is also the inconvenience factor of a 340 mile round trip. I told them I will return the table for a refund instead and bring my business somewhere else. I was then told we would need to pay 12% of the total cost of the table to pay the freight back to the factory and if the table was damaged in m transport back to them I would not be able to return the table. Why should I pay freight on a defective table? I would understand if I did not like the table or it did not fit in the space that the freight would be on me but this is a defective table. I asked to speak to someone higher up the chain but have been denied access and apparently all 5 people I talked to on the phone are managers who are answerable to nobody. In my opinion they should have replaced the table and accepted the table back with no damage conditions. The people in the Altoona store have no power which is a shame because they are the ones looking the customers in the eye. read more
