It was my first time going to Ashley's. I took my Goddaughter to pick out a First Communion Dress. She is rather picky and did not like any other dresses at other shops. She walked in and found exactly what she wanted. They had a great selection of dresses. She was able to find something unique to her style. Walked in May 2021 (mask mandate still in order) first impression NO MASKS!!! I was with my newborn nephew and one year old daughter; could not believe how rude and inconsiderate that was initially. No acknowledgement of this situation from the older lady who was helping us! Then aside from COVID precautions or lack there of...the lady was extremely rude! Was hurriedly explaining the sizes to us with backhanded and unnecessary comments about CHINA and they have awful manufacturing/sizing! Then when we browsed ourselves and had questions about the sizes we were then responded to in an aggressive manner! I wish we had walked out right then and there. I love supporting local businesses, but I would have rather spent the money at BuybuyBaby or even Walmart. Will NEVER go back! read more

These people are literally insane. I've been there once to help a friend pick out a dress for her child. The service was beyond rude. They spew insults and pretend like somehow they are God's gift to mankind. It was nuts. Before you go there, read the "Not currently recommended" reviews on here and their reviews on their Facebook page. If you look up one of them, Keely, on Facebook, you can see that she posts stories mocking her clients nearly everyday. It's absurdly unprofessional. They get their friends together and have them report real reviews for fraud and to post positive ones to try to bring up their store (so far failing, they have a 2.5 on Facebook and would have a severely low score here if Yelp hadn't hidden all the real ones). Don't go here. There are other places to shop in town where you won't get insulted, spit on, have things thrown at you, or have your child stripped in the middle of the store. Seriously. Excellent selection and great personal service!! We bought a first communion dress and all the things to go with it at lower cost than we could find anywhere else. They will order anything you need that's not already in their stock and it doesn't take long to get it in. It's the only place in town with little girls white shoes this time of year and they have lots of different styles to choose from. Really good service and knowledge. read more

I was in search of a baptismal gown, we visited this shop. Initially the woman who helped us seemed extremely helpful but later on her remarks were extremely rude. My 11 yr old daughter was browsing around for a separate dress and found one. The lady insisted on assisting her with trying the dress on. My daughter looked uncomfortable with this offering so I said I could help her get it on. This lady then proceeded to lecture my daughter and I about the dress would only end up on the floor, trampled. ??? Going back to my search for a baptismal gown and accessories, she gave us such a hard time about the return policy then said there were cameras in the store, insinuating we were stealing. It was so hard for me to give her money as I only had one day and had looked at other places and couldn't find what I wanted elsewhere. DO NOT SET FOOT IN THIS STORE. Never have I felt so belittled and insulted for trying to buy local. Everything the previous reviewers posted is all true. read more

I agree with the other review on here! I went into the store to look for a baptismal outfit and the owner is EXTREMLY rude!!!! I found an outfit i wanted, but I just walked out becuase she does not deserve my business. I would rather buy online and have it shipped to me even if it costs more. She looks at you with disgustment as if you have done something or she knows you. She doesnt say hello good bye, how can I help you NOTHING. TOTALLY RUDE!!! Her facial expressions just say it all. Absolutely HORRENDOUS service! I don't know if the woman who was there was the owner or manager, but she was the rudest most condescending person I've had the displeasure of meeting. I took my 9 year old daughter and Mother in Law to buy a petticoat, shoes, gloves and other accessories for her first holy communion. We already had the dress as it was shipped to us as a gift. When we looked at the first petticoat, I told the woman I already had the exact same one and that it was too big. She snapped at me saying it wasn't, before she had even seen our dress. I asked if she had a smaller one, she still opened the larger package saying it wasn't the large one. As soon as it was open, she admitted it was in fact the large one and rolled her eyes at me. She found the smaller one and I asked if it was OK for us to get my daughter's dress from the car to make sure it fit under it and see how tall the shoes needed to be that we were looking at in her store. She looked at my daughter and said "I guess, but if someone who actually wants to buy a dress comes in you'll have to get out of there." (Pointing at the changing room) Who talks to a kid like that? I handed her the petticoat back, put the shoes down and told my Mother in Law I'd rather shop somewhere else. I then told her that she was being incredibly rude, to which she laughed at me and said, "Well, I guess we'll be missing you". We will NEVER be back. This place doesn't even deserve one star. The owner herself is the rudest lady I have ever met. I would never recommend this place not even to my worst enemy. She would not let my daughter try on a dress so we could see what size she would wear in a communion dress. She states we were there only to play dress up. How is anybody to know what size and if the dress even looks good on. For her being so picky about her clothing why does she have some dresses outside in the sun. Plus the outfits were horribly wrinkled and very discolored. All I know she will never have business from my family or anybody I know. If you are looking for a baptismal or communion outfit I highly recommend Ann Mathews on Coors by Pass and Alameda. Very friendly and courtesy to your needs. They also let you try on the dresses with no hesitation. She also has a Facebook page. Its called Ashley's Baptism Communion. I was just reading Jen's review. OMG, we had the same experience just this weekend on May 7, 2016. She was horrible, we went in to exchange the dress because the same issue with the beads falling happened to the dress we purchased for my goddaughter. My goddaughter, my niece (her mother), and I were in the dressing room trying on dresses. She walked in and my niece asked her if she could please step out because my goddaughter was undressed. She flipped, started yelling at us, telling us to leave her store, that she had never been disrespected the way we disrespected her. We were like "what is she talking about?" I told her to calm down. She told me she was not going to calm down and kept on with her disparaging remarks. Tell us "people like us" need to shop at Walmart and a lot of other degrading remarks. She said "Not even the mormons are the way you guys are!" I finally had had enough and I got in her face. She tells me "what are you going to about huh? What are you going to do about it huh? She told us to leave her shop or she was going to call the police. I told her please do call the police. Horrible human being. I would not recommend this place to anyone. She should not state she does exchanges if she is going to be getting angry when someone does come in to exchange. She also threw my receipt in the garbage and it was taken to the dumpster. I asked her for my receipt, she told me "you want your receipt go fetch it from the dumpster!" She was gnarling. She is psychotic and should really seek professional help. read more

Initially the first visit we had was O-K, rushed only because we arrived 30 minutes before closing, but the woman helping us was somewhat cordial with desire in the type of dress we were looking for. We found a gorgeous gown for our daughter's 1st Holy Communion for May 7th. The dress was purchased April 21st. We completed the purchase with shoes too. The dress had been in my closet immediately upon arrival to my home. We received our hoop so it was try on time to make sure the length would be perfect. When we untied the bottom of the bag over the dress, sequins and pearl beads fell out. We further examined the dress and the bead work on the shoulder of the sleeves were coming undone and falling off. Because we paid $150 for the dress and the event is next week, I wanted to call the store to see how they could assist us and or recommend a seamstress to take the dress to fix the bead work. I called today, 4/27/16 and encountered the rudest person ever. As the opening of the call took place I explained when we were there, our purchase, etc. I then started to explain the concern of bead-work, when I was immediately interrupted and told that it was probably our fault that they take every bit of caution when assisting the customer to assure that there is NOTHING wrong with the dress, insinuating that was probably destroyed by a 2yr old stomping all over it. As I tried repeatedly to assure her that the dress had literally gone from the store to my home straight to my closet until last night. She snapped at me "oh sure likely story as everyone tells me that!". I stated that I even had a picture of it in my closet due to sending a picture of it to my mother who wanted to see it. She again cut me off and continued with her rant about being in business for over 30 years and again referring to a 2yr old running around in the dress and stomping all over it that she knew "my kind" that is why they stand firm on their policies. All of this she was pretty much screaming at me. She said I'm sorry if I'm being so... (with the pause I got my moment to say something) RUDE I said. She then again ranted on and on about they have quality dresses unlike the kind "you're" used to getting at JCPenney's for fifty bucks... By that point I was done being nice and asked for her name repeatedly when she kept saying that she was the owners daughter and it doesn't matter what I say to anyone or write online that they have had a respected business for (again) 30 some odd years... I just told her I don't want my money back I just simply wanted to know what can be done, and she cut me off again. I escalated my voice, ONLY to be heard and stated that she didn't need to accuse me of anything she was saying, when she yelled at me "ARE YOU CRAZY, I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO TREAT YOU HOW I WANT, THIS IS ALBUQUERQUE AND YOU PEOPLE DESTROY EVERYTHING". I told her that she shouldn't be sterotyping anyone, or me for that matter when I'm again simply just trying to see what we can do about this. Funny how I'm the one with the dress that has a SMALL issue, she seemed to be the one having MAJOR issues with whatever was going on in her head. She barely allowed me one word in. She finally asked the size and said that she had one that I would need to bring it to see if it was destroyed or not, but if it was today, I would have to deal with her. I replied "I'll be there in 15 minutes!!" and hung up. When I arrived to the store she was on the phone, so I waited patiently. She got off and said OK let's see it. I proceeded to show her the section. She took the dress and then put the other dress on the counter. When I started to lift up the plastic bag to examine the new dress, she started yanking it up (helping me lift it) saying that the dressed are very delicate... it wasn't the best exchange, but I got the new dress that didn't seem to have the same issue. I said that they should probably keep a keen eye on the dresses they get in to not have this problem. I also said that if it was to fall apart at the even while being worn and we KNOW that we did it, then yes it would be ON US and then our fault. She said well NO ONE EVER admits it. I continued with tying up the bottom of the plastic and she again went on and on about being in business for 17 years in Santa Fe and then a store in Cottonwood and this and that, and OH YOU should work her during pageant season and the people we get in for that, but we are very respected and loved by brides and honest people. To which I replied, um OH am I one of those honest people. She answered with, I don't know. I said EXACTLY which is why you shouldn't stereotype and treat people like that! All in all it was a HORRIBLE experience and have NEVER been treated so rudely at an establishment like this! We have also had our family business for over 30 years and know what it's like to have "that kind of customer". Which is WHY I make it a point to be a pleasant customer.
