I loved walking into a tidy, well-organized office. Some lawyers I interviewed had an absolute mess of papers. He had small reminders of his family and explained why it was important to him. JVK is a man of great character. - Underpromise & Overdeliver - this cliche is a big thing to me. JVK set realistic expectations and timeline for my divorce. Too many of my friends were overpromised by lawyers and invested way too much for less than what was promised. JVK set the goal for a divorce in under 12 months and got it done in about 8 months (December signed with him and served the spouse that month. I was divorced in August). It would have been sooner if the ex didn't delay providing documents. - Calm and Logical - this is super important. When my ex dialed up the emotion and ridiculousness, JVK calmed me down and was not affected by the ex's ridiculous comments or insults at the two of us. JVK knows people make logical decisions when the anger is removed from the decision making. - Billing is extremely fair. No nickel and diming for every little text and email.
