After partial payment, they indicated they would no longer negotiate on my behalf unless the outstanding amount was paid in full. At several points, it appeared the firm prioritized their fees over my case. Promises of strong representation and an optimistic outcome did not materialize. In fact, the handling of the matter ultimately weakened my position, and the final settlement amount covered mostly legal fees--with little benefit to me as a client. Despite the glowing reviews, Lauren Jacobson's legal representation was a huge disappointment. For almost a year, all we saw was a huge number of "filings" and no results. What should have been a straightforward lawsuit became a maze of questionable legal maneuvers which appeared to have no purpose but to extend the litigation and charge us for it. She once even increased her hourly fee and never bothered to even mention it to us. No rapport with us, only legal bills. Would not recommend her legal help. read more

Had an excellent experience with Attorney Balding at Maya Murphy on a custody revisitation/case management matter. He really helped me to see clearly and create options that worked. I found him to be measured, thoughtful and caring. He offered not only wise legal counsel but also proved to be compassionate and thoughtful in helping the process stay centered on what was best for our child. Dan Murphy did an absolutely awful job. He charged me ridiculously high fees, wrote my $10k retainer agreement which was a loan from my aunt so that he could sue her, neglected to tell me I'd have to pay 1/2 my retirement to my ex while he took the remainder, didn't tell me that if I signed a settlement that I couldn't discuss any of what went on during the divorce should there be a custody challenge, wrote a very detailed and impossible to live up to divorce agreement that gave my ex the ability to take me to court monthly for 6 years, and then sued my aunt for 5 years. He forced her to retain a lawyer in CT and wrote (free to him) motions over and over again until she settled, and had to pay her lawyer too. I was unable to help her with these fees since I had to go bankrupt, she had to pay from $30-60K in legal fees, I don't know what the settlement was because she is no longer speaking to me. Basically he advised me to settle because he took all of my money and then dropped me right before a necessary trial, wasting what remained of my savings. Then he grifted my Aunt, tortured her for fun, causing her issues with her own marriage, and the end of the day, my ex got primary custody, I had to take a role out of state, so he had most of the time with him while I drained my savings further to fly back and forth. Left with his father, my son tried to commit suicide. Never hire this guy. read more

We had an outstanding experience working with attorney Ruth Israely. She guided us through what was, for us, a confusing and complicated employment and non-compete agreement. Ruth reviewed documents under a tight timeframe. She explained everything in an easy to understand way. We had follow-up questions which Ruth promptly addressed. She used our time efficiently and clearly articulated costs related to our work. She made herself available over the phone, over video conferencing, and in person. I had a very out of the ordinary experience with the firm hence I am writing this review as a guideline for others. I contacted them in the morning of Tuesday Feb. 5th for a potential libel suit against 2 individuals. The lady lawyer on the phone took down detailed information on the 2 individuals so that she could check conflicts of interest. She proceeded to send me a confirmation email 30 minutes later confirming our initial FREE consultation at their offices. The consult took place at 3 pm of the same day in the Maya Murphy offices with 3 (!!) lawyers present taking notes. I was surprised at the number of attendees as this is not a "big deal" case. I spent one entire hour giving a detailed expose of the potential case and by the end Atty. Maya advised me of their retainer and fees. Then I went into further detailed discussion of the fees and what would be the next steps with Atty. MacDonald and left. The next morning I received an email telling me that Maya Murphy could not take the case as there were "conflicts". I have dealt with legal in several country jurisdictions in family and business - personal injury law and I found this modus operandi VERY out of the ordinary!!! The attorneys had plenty of time to check on the potential conflicts BEFORE I spent an hour giving them confidential information!! No attorney ever has asked me to come to their offices to discuss potential representation IF there were conflicts established and in all jurisdictions (Greece, England, Singapore, Denmark and the US) where I have worked the conflicts were established right away. To make matters worse two days after the consultation an unknown YELP person from Darien with the same initials as the Lady lawyer I had all the long conversations with, posted a vicious review of my business on YELP. I may be over-cautious but please future clients beware! read more

I hired attorney William Westcott to represent my case. He said that he could get the charges dropped. I wanted to have the charges dropped, so I didn't have to go to court. I contacted him several times about when the charges were going to be dropped. He kept saying how this was a stressful time, he wanted to help and the legal system doesn't work that way. I paid a lot of money for an attorney who didn't get it done prior to court, showed up late to court, got the police reports the day of court and was reading them in the lobby, was trying to discuss the case in the lobby with no privacy and had no plan. I informed him prior to speaking to the judge that he would not represent me as my attorney and told the judge that as well. He kept saying to me in court and outside of the court that he wanted to help me. I told him that I wanted a refund and copies of the police reports on 6/15/21. He said he would send a copy of the police reports and he was still texting me after court that he wanted to represent me. I contacted him 4 times saying I want a refund and the paperwork. He called me on a Saturday saying he still wanted to represent me. I told him I wanted a refund and the paperwork. I contacted Joseph Maya explaining my experience. He said he would contact me the next afternoon. William Westcott emailed a made up a story about the things he did for the case with inaccurate information. It is 7/7/21 and I have no refund or documentation. If this firm was a high caliber firm, they wouldn't be playing around. I do not recommend. read more
