The restaurant was lovely and well decorated with lots of room to dine in comfort. The staff that looked after us were very helpful and cheerful,very willing to make our meal there a happy one,But the food was very well presented and tasted very fresh,I had lamb vindaloo and the lamb was very tender and well seasoned and cooked and hot (I asked for hot ^^),for the very average affordable price of the meal I actually expected less in quality but the meal was worth far more than I paid so I stayed for dessert which was very tasty Indian style ice cream as well and ordered a few more pints.Usually for Indian restaurants I would go to Sunderland as they have so many there and some very good ones,but Ashoka surprised me enough to write a review and I will pass on to my friends how good it is there worth a 5/5 rating. read more

Ashoka in Seaham is by far the best Indian restaurant that I have been to in a long, long time. The Bengali cuisine is full of genuine flavours and aromas that you would not find in your average Indian meal, whether dine-in or take away. Ashoka is not average by any means. The decor is modern, trendy and arty, with exotic artwork that would look good in an art gallery (or in your home!). The staff are friendly and welcoming but never in your face or hovering anxiously, as if they are waiting for you to hurry up and leave. It's the perfect place to go for an important business meeting or special date. I would recommend it to my closest friends and I know they won't be disappointed. read more

Ashoka is an absolutely lovely restaurant, with fabulous food and very friendly staff. They were happy to accommodate our request of a sharing platter for a starter and were very attentive throughout our meal. I had chicken rogan josh which was superb, very well seasoned, lovely tender chicken and just the right spiciness for my pallet!
