It's worth a stop to see a relic, read a few signs and take a walk of the well kept neighborhood. There is a parking lot. Right there is also the Marine Veterans' Memorial, Maritime museum in a 1871 house, tho I don't know the hours, Bed and Breakfasts homes, and Ashtabula's darling downtown with a few restaurants.

The park itself serves as a historical landmark for the Hulett Ore Unloader machine, which was invented in the late 1800's by Clevelander, George H. Hulett, and was used in the Great Lakes during that time. Part of a machine is on display at the park! Also, at this park, there is a Merchant Marine Memorial which pays tribute to notable people who were involved with the harbor. Many of the park benches are dedicated and there is a path where each brick is dedicated to a person, business, or group from the area. Point Park does need some TLC and upkeep, though. There's some trash around and kids have started to deface the Hulett machine with graffiti, which is sad. But, overall, this is a nice, quiet park to enjoy with family, watch the boats go by, and learn some history on the area.

The tour itself was 2 hours, the tour guides on my date August 31, 2025: last tour of the day 2pm, were informative, interactive, and made me feel like I was in Christmas heaven. The tour in my opinion is geared toward for kids 6 and up, and everyone else after that. All of our tour guides, hilighted there areas well. If you ever find you have to reschedule your tour, the staff are more then eager to help with that. Check in through the black doors, at gift shop ; be sure to browse and take home a piece of christmas or other souvenir. Everything about the tour epic, loved it all from Santa squeeze, to Grand Ball room to room with all the toys, restoration room, the slide from Christmas Story, Lord & Taylor clock at the start of the tour, all the Christmas windows. Look forward to returning and seeing all the new additions in future. Cheers to 10 years !!

The tour lasted about 2 hours, was very informative, and contained a lot of vintage memorabilia, donated items, restored items, friendly faces, and tunes to put you right in the holiday spirit. I thought the gift shop lacked a little, but it really just helps to put the focus on the tour/museum aspect of the building.

We came to Lorraine Ohio for a girls dance competition, and had an afternoon off. This museum is like no other I've ever visited. We started at the gift shop what an amazing display of artifacts, memorabilia, and Christmas decor, much of it styled out of the 1940s era. While there we had a pleasure of meeting the young lady who played the part of Santa's elf at Higby's department store. She had returned for a reunion weekend with a cast from the movie. The neighborhood looks very much the same the scenes in the movie. The house itself is beautifully restored inside and out. Unlike other museums, this one is extremely interactive. I crawled underneath the kitchen sink and had my kids take photos of me. My granddaughter put Randy's bib around her neck and gobbled away at a dinner plate. Upstairs we rattled around through the bedrooms, the bathroom (the decoder ring was sitting on the sink). I highly recommend this museum!
