As I was walking, I happen to see Cathy Valencia and had heard of her name probably from word of mouth or online advertisements. Now I know there's a branch in Makati. I asked my friend who lives in Manila if she's ever experienced their Clinic. She said no, but to different clinics one of which is in BGC. I looked up both clinics websites and contacted them with a few inquiries about what I'd be interested in and perhaps make an appointment. A day later, I get a Viber message from a customer service person from CV who was happy to help me out. With the concerns and interests I have, there was an appointment later that afternoon but only one time slot available to do all the treatments I'm looking forward to doing. I still have not heard from my friend's recommendation and purged that idea. The agent did a pre-consultation, but suggested I needed to come in for my appointment so that my skin can be assessed in person. I gladly took the 3:30pm appointment on a Thursday afternoon. Once I arrived, I'm pleased with how pretty the front lobby is. Met with one technician and had a few questions answered. Let's just say I spent 4 hours at Cathy Valencia, had 3 ladies work on 3 different treatments/procedures, amazed at the cleanliness, professionalism, detail oriented with the work, also purchased 3 different face creams and a face wash which I was instructed to use in place of my regular beauty products for 2 weeks until the healing is complete. According to the website, CV has 6 branches all around Metro Manila and a branch in Tokyo & Nagoya! I can somehow get to Tokyo a little bit easier as I occasionally have work trips to Japan. I'm definitely coming back here again soon.

I don't know yet but in all honesty, seeing those jagged faces on screen made me think about my own face and all the things I've done through the years to make it presentable. I had my very first facial here; I was considered a late bloomer because I had it at 27. It was partly due to financial straits and the fact that I thought I didn't need it. One year however, my skin decided to have a mind of its own and I had an the worst pimple outbreak imaginable. I think back then I was pining on a boy and of course having zits wouldn't make him want to be on my beck and call. So, I came to Belo and had a facial. My therapist back then was Ms. Ali Onrubia, a very nice lady who patiently pricked and cleaned every spot on my face until I looked normal again. I came out of that clinic feeling like an artista and while my clear-looking skin didn't do anything for the boy I liked, it did improve my relationship with myself (and so far, it's been my most significant love affair)

We found the atmosphere, holistic approach to wellness, accommodations, staff and restaurants to be world class. This year we decided to repeat our anniversary getaway there again as it was so special the previous year. When we booked we noticed The Farm as San Benito now fell under Marriott's Autograph Collection of hotels and resorts. As a member of Marriott for more than 30 years we expected what was already a world class resort to be even better, if that were at all possible. What we experienced was nothing but problems and unpleasantries from the first hour we arrived. Upon arrival we noticed they did not accommodate our request for the same villa we spent our last anniversary in even though we previously reached out requesting this during our booking. Immediately upon entering our villa we saw there was two additional beds in the center of the villa blocking all the open walking space. The staff told us the beds were there as this villa was previously booked by another family and they turned the villa down for some reason after being checked in. Even though check in was at 3pm we still had to waste our first hour in the villa waiting for someone to come and remove the beds I remember our last stay upon entering our villa there was a meditating music and bamboo water feature video that greeted us upon entering the villa. This time there was no such greeting and later we found out the internet didn't work properly on the smart TV in the villa. There were no hangers as well in the closet for our clothes. . We then immediately noticed that the normally beautiful view on the back of the lanai of the hillside vegetation was obstructed by poorly maintained broken bamboo and vegetation overgrowth unlike the villa we stayed in the previous year. There was so much overgrowth that the attached pool to the villa did not get the necessary sunshine to bring the pool to acceptable temperatures for swimming. As well the pool wasn't cleaned daily as it was the last time we stayed and it was constantly with plant debris. Our first hour after checking in to the villa we experienced two brownouts where we were without electricity. We then took the walk path from our villa to the restaurant only to be greeted by yellow/black barricade tape not allowing us to follow on the concrete path to the restaurant and had to walk on the hilly, slippery grass. We were told there was fruit falling from the trees over the walkway path. Upon arriving at one of our favorite restaurants there, Alive, we were told the items we were ordering were not available. Also during the past year's stay we were greeted from restaurant to restaurant by a wonderful acoustic couple who provided memorable live music table side. During the 3 days there this time we never saw this type of entertainment which added so much to our experience last visit. At the end of the stay we picked up the phone to request transport of our luggage from our villa to the front desk and the phone was dead. We had to use our private mobile phone to call a Manila number to connect us to the front desk of The Farm to complete the request. All in all this will be a memorable stay but not for a pleasurable experience. Given that I will have to give phrase to the spa staff for their excellent service as well as the restaurant staff who were very kind even with the logistic challenges we experienced this visit. To conclude, we will look at other accommodations/resorts for our next anniversary getaway after our experience at The Farm at San Benito this year. When asked by friends and family about our recommendations we'll share this review with them as well. I'm hopeful Marriott will look into all these issues and will bring The Farm at San Benito back to its previous world class status.

I've been to Belo before 13 years ago when I was on vacation in the Philippines I went several times to the Belo Clinic at the Podium and I had a great experience there. Since I enjoyed my last previous visits I thought I'd come back to try them out again, this time at the Shangri-La Plaza. The doctors and staff have been kind to me, this is a review mainly for my experience during the Glycolic Peel. I just wanted a facial to soothe some redness and also get a cleaning done. Mind you, I've done cleanings here in the U.S. so I know what they feel like and I've also done them at Belo Clinics before. Anyway, I got a Glycolic Peel and the peel portion was fine and painless but damn the cleaning hurt so bad! OMG! It was torture! I swear I would have thought the esthetician hated me! I know there's usually that blackhead remover tool they use but it felt like she was following it up with a needle poke in each pore! it was HELL! I was literally crying my makeup off and I don't know why she didn't stop or try to adjust to make it less painful. It was the worst hour of my life and vacation LOL. On top of the pain, because she poked my pores with a needle or whatever she was using, my skin looked like shit the rest of my vacation! My nose had red blood dots from the needle and my nose ended up looking like a strawberry. The worst! It finally only healed now since I'm back in the states. On top of that, I was prescribed a cream to soothe the redness and they charged me 1600 PHP ($31) for Bioderma Brand and when I got home to the U.S. I found out that it's a cheap brand that they sell at Walmart and Walgreens for only $11 -___- Yeah, definitely not a pleasant experience. I suggest doing your research first before buying medication or lotions from here. It's probably cheaper to get it outside the clinic.
