First of all the dentist that adjusted my dentures was very good and knowledgeable. There was one member of the office staff that was understanding and polite.Unfortunately they were the only bright spots in an otherwise horrible experience. The staff was rude and I was sent to the supervisor only to be berated and told I was being difficult. They flat out lied about contacting me and belittled me. Wanted to share my experience with aspen dental on Washington with everyone. TL;DR The dentist working at this facility is clearly burnt out and embodies everything their is to hate about the modern model of retail medicine and if your care about you and your families health or financial well being you won't walk through the doors. The full story: Was seen here after I started having some Significant issues with sensitivity of my teeth and gums and a pretty significant single tooth gum line recession that was threatening the stability of my front tooth. The back office staff were friendly and efficient. The problem came with William Hiatt the "provider" he was in the room with me for less than 5 minutes, paid no attention to a very thorough history I had prepared to give and even mocked me asking "so did you just wake up one morning with this tooth issue". I presume he was upset that I've neglected to get it fixed for awhile, but I'm a paramedic in the middle of a pandemic and honestly between not wanting to expose the dental provider and just overwhelming work load I didn't have time to or few enough exposures to Covid to come in. Hiatt suggested that we fill in the gum line and I get a cleaning then left, no personal interaction, no connection building with his patient and most embarrassingly he actually forgot to check the bottom left quadrant of my mouth entirely. I questioned at the end of the exam "wow I was really expecting there to be more with all the trouble I've been having" to which he shrugged his shoulder and left. I left here extremely unconfident in his assessment and drove across town to another dentist where I was trying to talk to the front desk staff about hat had happened and get a quote for the work there, at this point I was still trusting his advice. Dr.Hart overhead my conversation and actually came into the waiting room and asked to see my mouth and was immediately concerned. Before ever taking a X-ray or having the evidence to prove it he told me my jaw was dislocated and my gum lines are receding because It's pushing my teeth out of place. I was seen there and it was identified that if I had followed Hiatts advice it only would have been a band aid and it's likely I would of lost that tooth and many more as I continued to damage them. I'm addition 2 cavities were found during the second exam that were not identified by Hiatt. After my second exam I went back to Aspen with all of the imaging and documentation to prove everything listed above and spoke with the office manager and asked that they refund any billing done ONLY for the portion of the visit with Hiatt as i was happy with the other staff. They absolutely refused and only offered "well we find stuff other people missed too". I even asked for the regional manager who I was told could approve the refund and they refused to call me and just had the office manager call me and relay the message that I was shit out of luck, I made it clear to them that I wanted to be fair as a fellow healthcare provider and only wanted them to resolve the specific issue I had so that their exam wouldn't take up my one free annual exam with insurance. Complete lack of empathy or understanding from the staff. In addition to the complete lack of accuracy in assessment by the "provider". The services they attempted to sell me would have done nothing but waste 600$ in copays and prolong the inevitable damage to my jaw and teeth. Even going to the second dentist who is out of network my treatment plan for the same repairs they wanted to do was nearly 400$ less in copays. I would also like to add that when I went back, I politely asked to speak to the officer manager in private so that we didn't have the conversation in front of other patients. We all have bad days in healthcare. Hiatt honestly didn't look like he felt well and he was clearly rushed, I imagine working in that setting he's under a lot of pressure to push patients through as most corporate providers are. But the true failure was in the lack of willingness to remedy the mistake once it was discovered. I would never let a physician of any speciality touch me or someone that I care about that isn't willing to try and fix a mistake they clearly made. read more

Aspen Dental absolutely wasted my time, and upon looking at reviews I see my experience is not uncommon. After being bumped by the office at 7:30am that morning from my scheduled 8:45am appointment to 11:30am, I came in for a check-up and cleaning. I sat through an abnormally long and jabby x-ray procedure, and I was told during the procedure that my insurance wasn't in their system. I specifically chose this office because my insurance provider listed it as an option. Rather than calling the insurance company to resolve it, the receptionist "sent it in." After visiting with the dentist, the office manager, Shelby, came to visit with me. I was told that they could not discuss "pricing options" for a simple cleaning until they heard back from my insurance company. Despite pulling up my insurer's website and showing that preventative care and cleaning was covered both in and out of network, I was told that I would need to come back another day. I then asked what I owed for the x-ray and consultation and was told "oh, that's free and not billed to your insurance!" Literally every other dental appointment I have ever been to has started with a cleaning and ended with a visit from the dentist. There's not a meeting halfway through to discuss "pricing options" like there is here (when I filled out Aspen's post-visit survey, the consultation with an office manager was specifically mentioned, so this is standard practice). At other dentists, billing details and confusion were always taken care of before my visit by the office, and if there were lingering issues, service was still performed. Since Aspen supposedly didn't bill my insurance, I'm not going to bother returning for the cleaning. I'll go somewhere that doesn't seem to be assessing me as a mark before performing the service I scheduled. read more

I originally was going to do a procedure here and paid for it in full three months back. After a change of heart, I called to cancel a few days later. They tried to ask if I would reconsider and mentioned it'd take awhile to refund the currency back to my original account. Fast forward three months, I get called and asked if I would like to reschedule the procedure and then asked if I would like a refund. I was under the impression we did this 90+ days ago. I said of course. They then hung up. If my assumption is correct, they deliberately held onto my money from my flex spending and insurance money knowing I canceled my appointments, waiting for a new financial year to ask me if I wanted to redo a procedure I initially paid for and canceled. This is a dangerous practice and I'd caution anyone that considers dental procedures here to try somewhere else if you have second thoughts about this place. read more

The Office staff and technician that worked with me were great. Dr. Hiatt (The Dentist) doesn't care. He was in a hurry to get my procedure over and seemed annoyed he hadn't numbed my gums on the first pass. I feel like he intentionally overcompensated and hurt me more than necessary out of frustration. I won't be back, ever. read more

Daughters tooth broke off and she was in excruciating pain. Called and was quoted a price for extraction and was going to be cheaper than her normal dentist so we made the appointment. Came in for her appointment and they lied. I do not recommend this dentist office. Very unprofessional. Very disappointing. Will never use this office or doctor again. read more

Cattle drive dentistry. They're set up to process as many people as they can and milk each person for as much money as they can. Once you walk in the door it's like being sucked into their system and only one way of doing things. I was a new patient and my first visit took 1.5 hours just for an exam and xrays. They tried to sell me all kinds of extras that my insurance won't cover. The Indian/Pakistani dentist got very flustered when I asked questions and argued and got angry when I tried to clarify what I thought were two conflicting answers she gave me. It seemed like she struggled with English. The exam room is set up so everything they do in the room is behind your back. Staff walks in and out without acknowledging you. I waited almost 30 minutes for the dentist to give her exam after the assistant and hygienist were finished. I took my xrays and left. They would only give me a hard copy. No digital. I won't go back and recommend you seek other care. read more

Karl has had nothing but trouble with what Aspen calls the temporary partial dentures. Cannot stand to have them in for very long at a time. Staff says it takes time to get used to them but it has been 6 months. Suppose to get permanent dentures in 6 months but appt is for 6 1/2 months. 2 more weeks before we find out if permanent teeth work better than temporary. I would say it is Karl with the problem but after adjustment feels ok for couple days and then unable to stand to keep them in mouth again. If it was Karl, it would not feel ok for couple days in my opinion. Karl has had a stroke so I believe that is the reason they do not listen to the problems. Anyway, at first could not chew food at all and now can chew a lot better. They basically refuse full dentures but in my opinion it cannot be worse. Couple appts ago he understood that they don't remold bottom denture only top. That sounds totally ridiculous to me due to not having problems with upper dentures. I would not recommend temporary dentures which cost a bunch because they are no good. I also can't say it is karl only because one time while sitting in the waiting room a pt said her friend had nothing but trouble until they made another pair for him. So there we go. Hopefully, the permanent set works better. read more

I believe it was the best exame I have every gotten.i just think it's sad the dental care is only for the rich now.if you don't have insurance or make a lot of money you can't get your teeth fixed.so those on disability,but not on Medicare or Medicaid are just out of luck.as much money as they make you would think their would be some compassion.but instead we live with tooth problems an ear ache because we can't afford insurance or the rates. read more

i cannot say enough good about Dr Turney, Amanda, & Gwen at Aspen Dental in Bartlesville. i walked in with my head hung with little hope of doing anything short of dentures. but Dr Turney & Gwen (office manager) worked with me and i left with a game plan & a next day appointment to get started on restoration of front teeth that were broken & crumbling. within a short time the hygienest, (Amanda) & Dr Turney had my upper front teeth looking almost better than they did in high school. when they finished & handed me a mirror i cried, and Amanda cried with me. (she's THE BEST. she's sweet, yet professional, & supportive thru anything that's the least bit uncomfortable. she loves her work & is incredible at it; i'm betting she's UNDERPAID! ;-) ) my appointment was on Valentine's Day and by the time i left i'd found a new 'Valentine' -- ME! i'm thinking mani/pedi's ... get the gray out .... join a gym?!!? (maybe even feel good enough to wear some of the jewelry i sell again!) i have an appointment next week to begin restoration on my lower front teeth and i am beyond excited. after that's finished i may be posting a new status: SINGLE & READY TO MINGLE!! ;-) woo hoo! Got to my appointment 10 minutes early and waited 50 minutes before going back to get my x rays. After I got my x rays we went into the room where I waited another 15 min until the dentist came in. After the dentist did my oral exam he told me I had gum disease and would need an extensive cleaning that goes under my gums and he'll put an antibiotic in there as well. I asked if there was anything I could take until I could get back in and he said no, the only thing I could do was the antibiotic under the gums at my cleaning. Waited another 10 min before I could talk to the lady who handled payments. She handed me two papers, one I would have to pay $1200 for my cleaning and I needed a root canal and some fills and a crown and I would have to pay $6500 for that. I went to get a second opinion today and I do not have gum disease and will only be paying $300 for my cleaning and I don't need a root canal. They scared me and bullied me into thinking my teeth were gonna fall out if I didn't give them $6500 and get this cleaning started. I am so happy I didn't go with their messed up opinion. Me and my two kids went to Aspen last year. We always tried to schedule all our visits together since we were an hour away. All was great...did initial exam gave us quotes. We came to understanding and agreement. I paid for us every time we saw the dentist. These were amounts in the 200.00-400.00 range. Except once when I took my daughter to eat while my son had work done. My son finished before we were done eating and he walked over to us. I called the young lady and told her we would be over after eating, but she told me it was okay. She told me I could pay it when we come in next and she gave me the amount owed. The next visit the amount was completely different and substantial. I kept getting phone call and bills in the mail of monies they said I owed. Large bills. I would call and speak to billing and they told me not to worry the insurance hadn't paid yet on me for some reason. She would take care of it. This continued often. I told her I would contact the insurance company to find out why they were having a problem with paying my dental. The billing manager told me that was okay, she would take care of it. Now I'm in collections for a $100.00 toothbrush that was given to my son without my consent. My son is over 18, but I was always paying all of our expenses/billing until the bitter end. I asked my son about the toothbrush and he said he didn't know...he thought it was a free toothbrush. They asked him if he wanted one. These dental assistants where young girls around my sons age, and I think communication was lost in space. If you get my thoughts on that whole thing. As far as the dentist is concerned he was always at odds with his dental assistant. To the point that I wanted to just walking out. She was not able to properly do her job. She was responsible for sucking the crap out of your mouth or not. At times to she would get other things such as your lips. During the time he was doing my daughters mouth he was always looking out the window while working in her mouth. Now my daughter has two very sensitive teeth when she eats. More to come because I am going to request all my billing information along with all payments and compare them with my banking information. I am not going to have a 100.00 sent to collections when I always paid for our services immediately. All services done for the three of us was well over approximately $1200.00 out of pocket. All I can say not the best dentist or experience I've had. The billing problem was a major pain in the azz. The dentist and assistant at odds. Not good. read more
