I am disgusted with this practice. They are scamming the government into using up your dental work for the first year. They call up patients ever 2 months for a cleaning and charge the government for the bill. They used up all my dental coverage for the first year with no consideration if I legitimately need dental work and when I did need dental work and was in pain I had no coverage let because they used it all based on greed and no consideration for the customer. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!! I had a new patient appointment back in March of this year. The facility was not clean or well kept. I was rushed through my x-rays as if I was not paying for the service. After my x-rays and exam, the dental hygienist rushed through my gum measurements making sure to be forceful enough to make my gums bleed. In the end, I was not allowed to get a cleaning. Instead I was told that I needed invisalign (I am blessed with some of the straightest teeth possible), a replacement for a tooth far back in my mouth and root planing and scaling. I told them I only wanted root planing and scaling and they told me it would be $3,000+ for the service and maintenance. They then tried to pressure me to schedule the service. When asked why I couldn't just get a cleaning, they stated "it would be unethical" to clean my teeth without completing the root planing and scaling prior. I asked for a print out of the services they said I needed and promptly left. I had insurance so I was wondering why it only covered $50. Three months later, I started a new job and therefore started a new dental policy. This time I went to Park Dental in Coon Rapids and received a much better service overall. Not only was the facility immaculately clean, but after thorough, unrushed x-ray and exams, they cleaned my teeth without hesitation. No other service was recommended but regular cleanings. ASPEN IS A SCAM! I should have ran when I heard other customers complaining about their bill in the lobby before my appointment. In 2022 I needed a valve replacement in my heart. It was to be done at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.. The doctor wanted me to go to a dentist for a checkup before the surgery. I had just moved to the area. I had my teeth cleaned in Idaho just before I moved here. The dentist at Aspen Dental said I had to have a special teeth cleaning before the surgery. I had no choice I needed that heart surgery. I couldn't walk very much because of my heart. I had to pay $1500.00 for the teeth cleaning. It only cost $200.00 in Idaho a couple of months ago. I went to Aspen Dental to get new Dentures. I have fixed dentures on the bottom, but with a bar with implant pins on it. Not an easy job, and most dentist turned me away . Aspen Dental took on the case and did a wonderful job. From the receptionist to my favorite assistant Elle, to the lab people who made adjustments .They treated me great. I would not recommend this clinic to my worst enemy. I started there as a result of a painful tooth. Neither my pain nor anything else was addressed. The care started terribly with the dental assistant who was absolutely cold. I told her I had terrible TMJ and pain. She was horrid and seemed to not understand that stretching my mouth was causing extreme pain. She sadly managed to giggle and roll her eyes. Fast forward, to the dentist. He never addressed my pain or concerns but created a treatment plan, which included a root canal that was not a root canal (shadow on x-ray) and a 200 dollar toothbrush. They brought over a financial lady, who proceeded to sell their treatment plan to me as if I was buying a car from a used car salesman. Mind you my treatment plan was almost 20 thousand dollars. I asked around and was told this is common for these folks. I immediately canceled my appointment for any follow up work and got a second opinion. The fact they are license professionals is beyond comprehension. I've googled the company itself and there have been a number of lawsuits over the years. I would never recommend this clinic. This is not a dental clinic. No rapport development, no centered patient care. read more

Very unsympathetic staff. Went in emergancy care for extreme tooth pain. The doctors assistant WAS AMAZING. Im very nervous when going to the dentist and she was very calming to me while taking my xrays. I wish I would have grabbed her name. The doctor was very robotic in her exam and very much in and out of the room as fast as possible. She actually irritated teeth that weren't even a problem that are now hurting a week later. Then I went to billing and that's where it all went to hell. I'm sitting there crying, in pain, and she hands me a $10,000 estimate of work to be done. Now my insurance is lapse right now because of renewals so I understand that dental care is expensive, but I came in to only get 1 tooth pulled. I asked her TWICE for a detailed print out of where $10,000 was going towards. This is when she started giving me an attitude and trying to push other treatments I wasn't there for on to me. I then asked to speak to the doctor again to go over alternative options and she told me that wasn't going to happen, she's already in another procedure. But informed me the dentist sent over a prescription for me. I asked this billing lady what script because the dentist didn't tell me she was actually sending something over and this billing lady snapped back at me saying, "I don't know, I'm not your doctor." In a very rude manner and then accused me of having an attitude when im the one literally crying in pain in the chair in front of her. I just got up and walked out. THEN when they kept calling me back asking how my visit went I tried telling who ever I was talking to on the phone my negative experience and she kept cutting me off and interrupting like she didn't want to hear a negative review. So here I am a week later. Still in pain. But now with 3 teeth bothering me instead of 1. For someone who is very nervous and scared of dental work this was not the experience I was trying to have and definitely negatively impacts me when it comes to going somewhere else to get these teeth fixed. This place needs to learn some empathy when it comes to their customers. Especially the ones that come in for emergency purposes. They might be scared. They might need a little more patience than just the routine get in get out and flip the chair and bill them routine. Do better. read more

My experience this week with Aspen was most definitely not good. They filled a tooth about 5?weeks ago and has been hurting ever since. I called them and asked for help. They said it's normal, give it another few weeks. Called again. They said normal. Finally went back after a month of this and they looked again. Now they say I need a root canal on that tooth and a crown. 4600.$! They demand 2500 upfront for the root canal the total amount for it without the crown. Before even scheduling me. It seemed weird but I'm in pain, so I paid them and was told I could come back in a week. ! I'm in pain! Well an hour later I didn't feel good about it. I called to cancel with them and get my money back. I literally called one hour after I made the appt. I got their machine saying their phones and internet are down. I leave message after message. 4 days later I still haven't even received a call back. Their machine still says there phones are down!? That's crazy! No reputable business can go without phones or internet for 4 days! Use a cell, call geek squad, do something! They ignore me and they still have my 2500$!. I even called the feedback line for all of Aspen dental and yep , get a machine that they are in a meeting. I tried it several times as well during the week. Worst customer/ patient care ever!! My husband has been trying to schedule and the lady on the phone who was the receptionist and then the BUSINESS MANAGER AS WELL both with the worst attitude ever REFUSES to scheduler him an appointment unless he pays for services prior to being seen. First off he is covered by commercial insurance which she REFUSES to even get from him and update and second of all per their own website on their financial policies: "2. Plan to wait 40 minutes over your exam time to be seen, even after arriving 20 min early. I got my x-rays and was shown to the chair where I'd wait for whatever Dentist to come in and wasn't seen until over an hour later just to be poked in the gums for 2 minutes and not be told id have anything done that day. No wonder they have TVs at every chair. Update: only available place I could get my cavity filled with my internship schedule and, still, a month later I'm having the worst pain that I can't even drink room temp water without throbbing/cringing pain or chew on my left side. I called to have them fix it twice and all Dr Tran did was shave the filling down more like that was supposed to solve anything. Again, the pain is still there. There is no reason I should be in this much pain if it was properly filled. I now am taking time of and paying to go somewhere else to get things fixed. Absolutely ridiculous service from the entire staff that gave me attitude in my time of need. Dr Tran is very impersonal and leaves multiple times IN THE MIDDLE of filling my cavity to go help another patient without saying a word. Avoid Aspen Dental at all costs! I went in to have a filling replaced and the dentist said I needed to have all of my upper teeth pulled and get a full denture. He also said I needed to have a crown replaced on the bottom. The total cost for this was nearly $7000, and the office visit was $208.00. I immediately booked an appointment with another dentist for a 2nd opinion. The cost for that office visit and xrays was only $160.00 and I was told I only needed to have the filling replaced. I went in for a new patient checkup. The dentist said that I had many problems-needed 2 crowns and gave me 5s in many areas of my gums and said I needed to have scaling done in all 4 quadrants of my mouth. I knew I needed 1 crown but I've never had a 5 for gum disease in my life. I walked out with an estimate of just over $2k (and I had double dental insurance)! I went to Shamblott Dentistry to have my crown done and also had a new patient checkup. I only had a couple of 4s and no 5s during the checkup-told my teeth and gums are very healthy and no further work needed to be done. Really feeling Aspen Dental was out to get my money-not looking out for the health of my teeth and gums-just their pocketbook! read more

Soooooo that was terrible terrible. The appointment was spent trying to sell me on $6000 Invisalign trays instead of listening to what had brought me in for my visit. The dentist and franchise owner was not a good listener at all, this is a terrible quality in a clinician of any kind. Then after the appointment the receipionist had someone else's chart up and was like "so it looks like we're going to get you a root canal and a tooth extraction." Which was not at all the case, I said "can you check to make sure thats my chart your looking at." Then once she sorted that out she quoted me one price for a treatment, and then printed out a quote for $200 more then she had initially quoted me. And in my head I was like "try to be nice, try to be nice." All this after counting five different people who came in and out looking at my teeth (during the pandemic). The office is in a strip mall building which is loud, the staff are chaotic and run around from patient to patient not setting a professional tone that instills confidence. If I could this place zero stars I would. I am so traumatized by my experience that I am having trouble ever going back to a dentist. I had to get a filling which is never fun but I've never felt so violated by a healthcare professional. When the dentist was giving me Novocain shots she hit a nerve in my cheek. I scheduled my wisdom teeth to be pulled 3 weeks ago. I just got a call at 4pm and got told the oral surgeon wouldn't be in on my scheduled date, which is TWO days away. I took time off for this and they informed me that they can do it on Monday, but not sedated! They want to take out all 4 at once, and offered no sedation on a day I cannot get off. I do have to say at least I can get my x-rays and try another place. read more

But i give a 2 star because Be careful with the information they give you and I recommend getting a second opinion if the treatment plan sounds ridiculous. My husband went in for tooth pain and was told he needed 10 fillings!! And with the entire treatment plan it'd cost $9000. So he went in for a second opinion elsewhere and was told he only needed 4 fillings. I'm not sure where they found the other 6 fillings but I'm glad we went for a second opinion. Be very careful about scheduling your appointment at the Coon Rapids location. I had gone thru a root scraping, which they had to do twice{?} and had made a followup appointment in July for September. Which I received a followup email with the correct date and time. 1 week from the appointment date I received an email to confirm, but for a different time. I confronted them and could not give a good explanation. The day before the called and wanted to change my appointment again. I was unable to switch, but they went ahead and did it again anyways. When I went in again, no explanation. They said they couldn't get me in because they could not use the same machine in 2 rooms, Don't they have the hand tools for cleaning in the same room? Later to find out it has happened to many people their. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Very unprofessional. read more

I would not recommend Aspen Dental for dentures, or Partials. I brought my elderly mother there. After 14 months of appointments, I had It! Teeth fell out, dentures cracked, never did fit correcntly. They do not offer a full refund as advertised. You need to return the product for a refund. I did receive some money back after talking to management several times. They also tried to add a future cleaning to our statement. Can you believe a charge for $500! My mother is legally blind and only has 6 permanent teeth. I'm glad I checked her statement. They said some people like to pay 6 months in advance, crazy!, I just laugh when I see Aspen Dental commercials, they are so far from the truth. If I could give negative stars I would. This office and Aspen dental has no idea what they are doing. Where do I start? I had an area of my mouth that had all the symptoms of an infection including severe pain and fever. I am also immune compromised. I had an appt already scheduled a week out. When I called they could not get me in and did not provide me an alternative. I had no choice but to go to my medical doctor and get an antibiotic. My doctor was livid. A couple months later I had a bad toothache and they took x rays of the wrong side of my mouth, examined both sides, then referred me to an endontist. This cost me over 300$ only for the endontist to tell me there was no reason for me to have been sent to him. I called Aspen back and they would not refund my money and still billed me for the toothache visit and would not give me my money back that I had to pay the endontist despite him emailing Dr. Tran ( the horrible owner of Riverdale Aspen) of the unnecessary referral. I called Aspen corporate office and they had the same office manager from Riverdale that I already spoke to call back. Aspen is supposed to be lower price and I see why. Very SUBSTANDARD CARE. Save yourself some money and go to a dentist who knows what they are doing. read more

If I could give this place a -10 I would. The dentist was very helpful but the office manager and Tony are horrible! I was suppose to see an anesthesiologist but he is only there once a month so he told me I was scheduled for next month and he would call me back to confirm. Almost a week and a half later no call. I called them this morning and was told I was supposed to be scheduled for a mild fitting and that was never done. Then on top of that as I'm speaking to the office manager she just started talking to someone else as I was talking to her without excusing herself then said I was yelling (which I wasn't) because she was rude. Once again you did a terrible job! I'll never come back to Aspen again. First off the wait was 40 minutes, to have one person tell me billing was wrong and then another tell me everything was fine. While the practice manager did come talk to me about the billing it was too late. The tech Tami, who was rude and unprofessional took out my chart and pointed at all these placed I missed from last year. She said all these charges stayed in your account and we assumed the you knew from your last appointment. Now I was furious and the dr came in and explained no in fact we did have these new areas of issue, and you did actually take care of those at the last appointment (last year)Why is the tech telling a client this! While I finally did remember talking to the DR last week she never actually told me the told number of teeth that were being worked on! Plus I never saw an estimate or anything until the day of the appointment. I was on the fence about leaving and I should have. The experience was frightful and down right disappointing. After the procedures they didn't even tell me anything but you're done and pointed at the door. No discharge instructions or nothing! So disappointing and you could be found at fault had someone or something happened because NO one told me what to expect. If this is how you treat all your patients I'm bewildered you can stay in business. read more

Worst dental experience ever! I made an appointment for a teeth cleaning but did not receive one. When I made the appointment I was not informed that I actually would not be getting my teeth cleaned but would be getting x-rays and an evaluation of my mouth. They also did not inform me that the appointment would be an hour and a half long! This is their standard practice with new patients. The staff spoke to me as if they had a pre-written script they were to say to all their patients, not very friendly or personable! I waited for 20 minutes in the dental chair for the dentist to look at my mouth. When the appointment was over and it was time to make an appointment for my cleaning and discuss insurance they put two charges on my future bill that they didn't even discuss with me. One was for an electric toothbrush (which I already have, but they didn't know because they never asked) and an oral cancer screening all to a tune of $200 extra. When I asked what those charges where she said they were optional but she did not tell me they were optional until I questioned them. They just put them on my bill without even discussing them with me! I do not recommend this dental office! read more
