The quality of patient care here is outstandingly bad. I went in here with my boyfriend for his tooth pain and cracked tooth and was seen by Dr. Chowdehey and we couldn't have received any worse of service. He poked around in my boyfriend's mouth very impatiently, and his bedside manner from the start was horrible and because of what he did, we ended up in the emergency room that day because he left him in excruciating pain, even worse than when he started. He about gave him 12 shots of Lidocaine and decided that he could not get him numb enough to do the procedure. And ended up walking out the room given our money back and saying get out of here. I get that you may be having a bad day but taking it out on your patient is just bad practice. We ended up having to go to Emory John's Creek that day because of what he did after the numbing wore off. It was a very bad day and was unnecessary that we had to even go to the hospital. Because they could not even help us anyway. But they were able to at least get him numb enough so we could survive through the weekend to get dental treatment from another facility that was able to help him. I do not recommend this place at all. What he did was just not write an unethical and we will be seeing what our options are in to get this handled by a lawyer. It's just sad when even the hospital Emery Johns Creek told us that what he did was wrong and we're shocked by his behavior. Stay away. read more

You can never get in touch with these people. They either have closed randomly, phones never answered, phone lines always down, can't leave messages, no way to email, never return calls or they always seem to have system errors. How they get anything done is beyond me. I originally applied for care credit and was to have some services rendered. I have insurance. I had two things done, then decided it wasn't for me and never got refunded on my care credit. They are charging me 2,900 for cleaning my bottom teeth and new patient appointment which was covered by my insurance mostly. I have been making payments on a high balance for months for services I NEVER received and I can't even get in touch with anyone to dispute or discuss this issue with. It is ridiculous! read more

Absolutely unethical business. Pure robbery. I broke a tooth and unfortunately Aspen Dental was the only place that had availability ( in understand now why). Within 5 seconds the dentist determined I needed an implant and a deep cleaning and presented me an estimate of $4500 out of pocket. I knew this was BS so decided not to accept this and waited 2 weeks so I could see a real professional dentist. The said an implant was absolutely absurd and no deep cleaning was required either. Owned by private equity, like other industries run by private equity, they are strictly for-profit, meaning everything they do is about making money off of you any way possible. They are under immense pressure to turn profits, they will sell you any procedures, plans, operations, etc. that they can. Walk-in for a cleaning, walk-out with a set of dentures and 5 root canals! OMG STAY AWAY!!!! SCAM ALERT!! I went here for a routine cleaning and to have a small cavity filled. After at least 20 "complimentary" ex rays (hope my hair doesn't fall out), I was told that I needed a deep cleaning, a root canal, and a bunch of other stuff that I said I didn't want done. I just spent thousands at another dentist this year, and none of this was necessary according to them. I said no, and told Aspen Dental that I just wanted a regular cleaning and a filling. They refused to do it, because it wasn't what they "diagnosed " for me, and said "it wasn't best for me". They offered a payment plan for my $1100 out of pocket, after-insurance fee. For a cleaning. If I could give them 0 stars I would. The dental staff is good. The office staff are completely incompetent. They admittedly overcharged me by several hundred dollars in February and told me I had a credit on my account that I would receive after the insurance paid. They then filed my insurance incorrectly not once but twice, and four months later I still have a credit I cannot get until my insurance pays. I know this sounds like there is more to the story, but I assure you there is not. When I call to complain, they tell me they are working to correct it on the backend, but it takes time. It has been four months. I am sure if I owed them money instead of being entitled to a refund, they would be more inclined to get this corrected. As it is, I feel like I am loaning them money. Went there for the advertised free X-rays and they tried to charge $237 for an X-ray on one side of the mouth where the problem existed. After questioning, they went down to $98. This is a follow up to my previous review. I would still not recommend this dentist office. I got in contact with the location who first claimed the DDS had a family emergency but then the office manager said that they knew a week ahead of time and had called me twice and left messages that they would be canceling my appointments. Obviously this did not happen - all I ever received were confirmation calls, texts, and emails - she just kept reiterating that they had called me to cancel. Scam!!! Beware !!! Ripoff.!!! I had full dentures along with the extractions. Did upper two years ago, they charged me over 400.00 too much. Charged me for too many extractions. I paid for top and bottom extractions and dentures. Then changed my mind and did less extractions on bottom with a partial denture. When I reviewed bill after I got home the numbers were wrong . I paid half card and half cash. They would not give any cash back I had to wait weeks for refund on card. Two years later go back for bottom. I had 5 teeth to extract plus denture. They charged me for 9 extractions. I'm going back tomorrow to get a refund!! $600+ . Who looks a bill details after you are in pain from 5 extractions??? This place is the worst!!! Unfortunately i have to rate it one star but I'd give it no stars in my opinion! My wife had to get an implant on one of her front teeth @ $7,000 for 1 tooth, ONE TOOTH. Over priced! Having insurance doesn't help with "cosmetic" implants. Not only that, the oral surgeon chipped a filling on the tooth beside the implant and wanted to argue with me saying he did not do that and telling me to shush as if i were in kindergarten. Oh i went off on him, they obviously refilled the chipped tooth. When I finally got to the back they had interns trying to give me ex rays and I swear they almost had no idea what they were doing. I made an appointment with Aspen Dental's Cumming, GA location not really knowing much about the dental practice at all. A leap of faith I suppose since I hadn't been seen by a dentist in 2 years. I showed up 15 minutes ahead of time, and began filling out paperwork. Shortly thereafter I was called back and given a series-- when I say series, I mean an epic series-- of X-rays. The tech was efficient and courteous to say the least. I was then returned to the front to finish my paperwork. 41.2 seconds later-- ok, I'm exaggerating-- maybe 2 minutes later, I was again called to go to the back. The office is very clean and inviting. The exam rooms are small, but sufficient. I was sat in a chair in front of small tv that was playing something from channel 2. A very nice lady went over what the following steps would be- meet with hygienist, meet with dentist, then off to discuss money with someone from the front office. Awesome! Wow. This place is so efficient! The hygienist came in and explained that she would be evaluating my gums, and would be calling off numbers to her counterpart. After that was done she went over the deep cleaning/scaling process with me in detail, let me know of other potential issues, and stated the doctor would be in shortly. I sat watching tv until the doc came in. He was kind, attentive, and overall seemed very good at what he did. About halfway through, we were joined by one of the office staff who seemed to be in some sort of training. I love businesses that cross train employees. It just makes sense to me. The doctor finished up-- I needed that deep cleaning, a root canal and crown, bridge to replace a tooth that had been pulled in previous years, and a few other cavity fixes and tweaks. The office worker who had been observing and cross training took me up to the front to discuss the plan for my teeth and the costs involved. The initial estimate for all the work came in at just under $10,000. A lot of money indeed. I was at that point encouraged to apply for some sort of care credit that they offer in office. I declined and stated that I wanted to pay cash for my dental work as I did not have insurance, and I would like to start with the most pressing issues and work our way from there. I was advised on the deep cleaning/scaling so they could get a better look at things and get my teeth started back on a regiment. $719 is what that would cost. Great! Can I make an appointment for next Thursday morning? Sure I can. Then I was asked the strangest question-- what card would you like to put that on? Huh? I'm thinking...come to find out to have any work done you must put 60% down at the time you make the appointment. No one said anything like that. I didn't show up with 60% of $719 in my pocket. I was more than happy to pay a $25 appt hold fee like other doctors offices, but to expect that 60% really threw me. So, now you know their "thing" aka the small print. The prices you see online are for people with perfect teeth, and to have an appointment you need 60% of the cost up front. read more

I wish I could give this place zero star. This is the worst dental office I have ever been. After the x-rays my mouth was bleeding, and the tech who performed them was one of the rudest people I have met. The set up of the office makes you feel like you are just a number and are not even human, very impersonal experience. Instead of one chair where the doctor sees you and then you have the cleaning there is one room that you see the doctor and then move to the cleaning area. It's set up close to an assembly line. If this is the experience most people have at the dentist I can understand why they do not want to go. I will not set foot in this place again. read more

beware, beware, beware,beware, dangerous i sure wish someone had warned me before i went in to have my implant done at aspen dental. the person that calls himself a surgeon all but did men permanently. that's right they gave me so much medicine when they put me to sleep that i crashed in the chair and my friend said it took him like 30 minutes to get my eyes open then they want me to the back door and put me in the car and they closed their building and went home early because it was a friday. i hadn't got away from the place good thank god one of the people driving me home recognized that i was in respiratory arrest, at which time he call 911 nms came out and pick me up. i shall never forget the words that the emergency room doctor told me, she told me you should shake those paramedics hands and thank them for what they done, she said they saved your life and that doctor up there over-medicated me the point that i went into respiratory arrest. i think the cause was of lack of oxygen during the procedure, but then we learned that they use propofol, ketamine, burset, and some other kind of narcotic there's a total of 4 in their so-called drug cocktail but they use to put you to sleep. just beware.. and the bad part about it is there no cheaper than anyone else the time they add on this charge and another charge and another charge 1 tooth. $5, 000.00 and don't be stupid like me they told me i needed to deep tooth cleaning deep teeth cleaning well they charge me $1, 050 on this $1, 100 to go in and brush my teeth with baking soda haha what a rip off. he'll what's good attitudes that they kill you. read more

Not a great experience. Beware, do your home work, get second options. Their demeanor was very professional, smooth, impressive, knowledgeable. Quick, speedy responses and solutions. They had no idea I was a former dental assistant, I booked the appointments simply because we needed a quick annual cleaning and an exam to check for cavities. By the time the dental appointment was over, they had me written up to do a full mouth root planing, stating periodontal disease with "active infection". This procedure was quoted to cost me $2500. I know what periodontal disease looks like, I have absolutely no evidence of disease or infection. They refused to do the regular annual cleaning because of my "severe state". I left without proceeding, went to a second more reputable dentist who promised there is no infection, no disease and no periodontal issues that need attention, only slight gums receding on one or two tooth's. My husband however wasn't so lucky. I made a cleaning appointment for him too. They told him the same thing- no regular cleaning for you- you need immediate root planing- you have severe periodontal disease. He agreed to the root planing, which in his case was probably needed. However, in addition to the $2500 root planing, they quoted him to replace two crowns, which are also probably needed. HOWEVER- This is where it got really bad and made my husband run for the door. Upon arriving for the crown replacement, my husband asked if the teeth were healthy enough for new crowns OR should he have root canals OR should he pull them and bridge them? The Dentist replied "Ok, let's do that, let's do two root canals, then do the crowns and if they don't take, we will pull them and do the bridges." His cost to Fix two teeth went ftom $5500 (plus the 2500 root planing) to whatever idea the dentist came up with next and the cost associated with that. My husband leaves sensing something is fishy. NOW it gets worse- we are on the hook for the 2500 root planing. I email and asked for a break down of the 2500, because I can't tell from any of the quotes he gave us, what parts cost what amount. After maybe 6 emails back and forth, they still are not able to break it down. Included in the planing was a special toothbrush, a mouth rinse, anesthesia, and the planing, They can't break it down, I still have no idea how much each part cost. After repeated emails, they have now decided we owe only $370. And they billed our dental insurance for $900. I think they realized they got caught. I did not need root planing and my husband did not need four procedures to fix his two teeth. So, short story is- if you ask and pay attention to what they are saying and doing, you will easily see that they are willing to do absolutely any procedure they think they can get you to believe you need, and they will bill you any amount you are dumb enough to pay. read more

Our insurance changed and we have a new plan. We chose Aspen Dental as it was closest that accepted our insurance. We had to chose our dentist before going in, it is an HMO plan. When we went in we were told they do not accept our insurance. I asked why they would be a choice on our HMO and was told that Aspen Dental does take that HMO and then she listed the offices that do not take it (all in our area). The staff seemed nice enough. But seemed to be a scam to get us in since we were then told that they would give a complimentary exam and then from there we save 60 percent on any work that maybe needed. What a complete waste of time, like we have time to waste. We cancelled our appointments and drove down to Sage Dental as I remembered they were on our list. They not only took our insurance but were more than happy to help. We now have appointments with a dentist that actually takes our insurance as our plan said they would. I had to go through some red tape to change our dentist sooner than the 1st of next month but our insurance did do it. Afterall, we were given Aspen as a choice and that was not the case. We shouldn't have to wait. Because of the waste of our time and no one seemed too concerned that their office is a choice to lock in on the insurance we are on, I would not chose to go here. No surprise that we were able to chose and lock them in as our dentist. You may want to double check with Aspen before choosing them if you have to lock in your dentist. You may waste your time and have to wait another month to even get a new dentist to make an appointment to see. read more

I would still love that 0 star option, but I heard back from the assistant office manager AFTER I cancelled my second appointment and explained to the receptionist why. She said she was sorry no one explained the break down of the bill, the bill I NEVER received until it was too late. I asked about that $135 toothbrush that I did NOT ask for and for a refund for the 2nd cleaning to my account and she said she can't because the toothbrush part of the package deal and that the second cleaning "free". Weird how they can not itemize things they are billing you for? Nothing is free with these scam artists. I don't understand how I am getting charged for a cleaning I have not, and will not have done there! I will be looking up reviews for dentists, which I clearly should have done before setting foot in this awful place. Further, when my mother showed up for her denture after months of waiting, they were not ready. No phone call indicating otherwise. After speaking with office personnel, I was told that she would receive a phone call so she wouldn't have to drive there again unless they were there. Today she had a 9 a.m. appointment and did not go. Why? NO PHONE CALL yet they said they were expecting her at 9. Guess what. The denture was there. So can I start with amazing! So unfortunately, I do not have insurance at the moment so I took advantage of their free consultation and x-rays. I am so glad I chose this location. I currently work in the customer service industry and can tell you that it's rare to have exceptional service these days. I was a little nervous about my visit but I immediately was put at ease and comfortable when Ms. Maddison took me to the x-ray area. She was very encouraging and patient with me. The amazing service didn't stop there. When Mr. Kessie came in to access my mouth. He made me feel special. He seem genuinely concerned about my mouth/smile,ect. You would think ok so the great service is over. Think again. So Dr. Chowdury came in and he was amazing as well. He took me through many options and scenarios on how to proceed to get a healthy mouth and keep it like that. Needless to say I'm well on my way to get that million dollar smile I once had. He referred me to Ms. Katie the office manager we discussed several options as far as payment and appointments.She was very helpful and thorough setting me up with some financing. To sum it up i will happily take the drive from Lawrenceville to Cumming as often as needed for the excellent service i received yesterday. I will definitely be getting all my dental work done there. I made an appointment and met with the dentist. We discussed a treatment plan based on the Xrays. During our discussion we several options were given. I choose one, but after talking to my insurance provider, I changed my mind, so on my next appointment I expressed my desire to change my treatment plan...The Doctor got irate and tried to tell me that I was confused. My mouth, my decision and no confusion here! He refused to do any of the work and suggested I go else where. Last year they did 5 fillings on my daughter, but charged our credit card for 7 plus the next cleaning which hadn't even been scheduled. 1 year later, 3 of the 5 fillings they did have to be redone because the work was so poor, there are cavities developing under the fillings. read more

To be fair I have given them two stars because they were polite and professional, prices are outrageous but I guess that it to be expected. Long story short I had to have an extraction, which perhaps for some people is not a big deal. For me I went home took the max amount of Tylenol and Advil and iced my mouth knowing that I have experienced a lot of pain with procedure in the past. As the numbing medicine wore off it began hurting quite bad. I called to ask if I could 2-3 stronger pain pills so I could sleep and figured I would be much better in the morning. The Doctor flat out refused and told me that I should expect to be in pain. I know we have a crisis of narcotics being sold illegally on the street but I don't think my drug empire plans would get too far with 2-3 pain meds that I need for my own pain. In my opinion people who lack empathy have no business performing painful procedures on others. Bottom line, I don't feel comfortable returning here but if you are a masochist this is great place for you. read more
